Preface The X internationalconference on Mechanical engineering, automation and controlsystems (MEACS 2016) was held in Tomsk, Russia, on October 27–29, 2016. MEACS 2016 represents a continuation of the conferences on mechanical engineering, held in Russia since 2003, as well as seminars and conferences on the technological applications of modern scientific development, traditionally organized in Tomsk. The four-day conference brought together the specialists from different countries and organizations and provided an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge, make oral contributions and poster presentations, and initiate discussions on the topics that are of interest to the conference participants. The selected papers of the conference cover a wide range of technical areas and modern aspects of the integrated computer controlsystems in mechanical engineering, numerical simulation of applied problems, materials science in mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering processes, and metals treatment. The conference was hosted by Tomsk Polytechnic University.
