Accurate and robust segmentation of surgical instrument parts is urgently required by AI enhanced intelligent surgery and automatic surgery skill evaluation. However, it is still a challenging problem due to the multiple small areas of frontal clasper and wrist parts, complicated object occlusion and light variation issues. Increasing high quality labeled data is effective to improve the performance but labor-costing. A novel instrument data augmentation method is proposed to generate high quality training data through planar instrument replacement and orientation adjustment. Moreover, image repainting methods are utilized to recover the occluded parts by instruments and generate clean tissue images. Then joint angle reconfigured instruments are placed on recovered clean tissue images to generate simulated surgery images, and we control the occlusion rates and overlapping areas by which high quality instrument manipulation augmented training data are generated automatically. Detailed experiment results show our proposed data augmentation method make existing methods achieve better segmentation accuracy and robustness of wrist and clasper part, especially the fault detection errors decreased significantly in instrument overlapping and complicated lighting conditions. © 2023 ACM.

Energy efficiency (EE) are recognized globally as a critical solution towards reduction of energy consumption, while the management of global carbon dioxide emission complement climate change. EE initiatives drive is a key factor towards climate change mitigation with variable renewable technologies. The paper aimed to design and simulate photovoltaic (PV), fuel cell stack (FCS) systems, and battery-super capacitor energy storage to enhance sustainable clean energy load demand and provide significant decarbonization potentials. An integration of high volume of data in real-time was obtained and energy mix fraction towards low carbon emission mitigation pathway strategy for grid linked renewables electricity generation was proposed as a solution for the future transport manufacturing energy supplement in South Africa. The interrelationship between energy efficiency and energy intensity variables are envisaged to result in approximately 87.6% of global electricity grid production;electricity energy demand under analysis can reduce the CO2 emissions by 0.098 metric tons and CO2 savings by 99.587 per metric tons. The scope serves as a fundamental guideline for future studies in the future transport manufacturing with provision of clean energy and sufficient capacity to supply the demand for customers within the manufacturing. © 2023, The Author(s).

This research focus on applying Multi-Agent systems (MAS) with Internet of Things (IoT) in order to improve the distributed control for the smart manufacturing. The emphasis of the study is laid on the capability of MAS to enhance production performance and diminish time losses, as well as to develop efficient strategies regarding faults and their reporting. Besides, based on real-time data of manufacturing, an information of schedules, faults and communications of production, the study measures the result of the MAS against the conventional centralized system’s efficiency. The outcomes reveal the positive changes in production rate, time loss, and communication performance indicating the suitability of MAS to deal with the challenging and evolving nature of the manufacturing systems. This paper constitutes information to smart manufacturing research and forms a basis for research on the subject in the future.

Many BDS is doomed to failure because of the missing knowledge on measuring the performance of BDS. The failure to identify the performance measurement and correct will make the problems worsen. This will complicate the efforts of fixing such problems and more importantly, will affect the quality of knowledge, insights, and results expected by the users in the future. In achieving durable performance, the organization needsto understand the factors that contribute to the performance of the eco-sustainability and green analytics metrics for BDS. Although the existence of its importance and awareness was largely neglected. Therefore, the eco-sustainability and green analytic measurement of the BDS is examined in this research. Measuring the BDS performance has the benefit of identifying problems and launching corrective actions before these problems happen and become worsen. The research will investigate the eco-sustainability and green analytic measures which will be proposed and used to capture performance for each process of BDS. Then, based on such measures and metrics, as well as existing performance concepts, frameworks, and models, a measurement model for BDS will be created. The model will be validated through expert evaluations and confirmatory studies with users and practitioners of BDS users. The research has a greater significance in leveraging existing performance concepts in BDS settings and the research proposes users' participation in the sustainability and continuous performance evaluation of theirBDS. © 2023 IEEE.

Electroencephalography (EEG) signals, widely used in neuroscience and clinical research, provide non-invasive insights into brain activity. However, their high variability, noise, and complex spatiotemporal dynamics present significant challenges for effective modeling. To tackle these issues, we introduce an energy-guided topology for EEG signal analysis within the Mamba framework, designed to enhance feature propagation by leveraging spectral energy distribution. Our method first transforms EEG signals into the frequency domain and constructs an energy-based topology using channel-wise spectral power. Features are then propagated bidirectionally along energy gradients, enabling the Mamba model to capture temporal and spatial dependencies more effectively. By aligning feature learning with energy flow in the frequency domain, our approach improves the efficiency and accuracy of EEG modeling. Experimental results on the public dataset demonstrate that our method outperforms CNN-based, Transformer-based, and vanilla Mamba models, underscoring its potential to advance EEG signal processing. © 2025 IEEE.

In this paper, a long-distance monitoring service technology is developed for maintenance of the Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) and scrubber, an air pollution reduction device installed at a long distance. It is necessary to consider the operating conditions and maintenance working conditions of the system placed at a long distance, detect whether the device is abnormal and inform the manager. At this time, the RTO is operated according to the trip condition and is connected to the data management server based on the Edge-IoT interworking. Even in situations where it is not connected, the pre-alert function can be supported with an independent self-analysis function. In order to monitor the RTO equipment in real time, it intelligently supports low-delay analysis, judgment, prediction and visibility. It is also possible to provide an interactive remote service that can support not only field managers but also non-experts, initial users. Copyright © 2024 Global IT Research Institute (GiRI)

This study investigated the construction of a corpus for annotating named entities and entity relationships in Chinese electronic medical records (EMRs) of pediatric bronchopneumonia, addressing the current lack of annotated data in this area. Guided by experts in the medical field, we developed an annotation system and detailed guidelines specifically tailored to named entities and entity relationships related to pediatric bronchopneumonia. Under the guidance of these system and guidelines, three rounds of manual annotation and correction were performed, resulting in the annotation of over 740,000 characters of pediatric bronchopneumonia EMR texts, including named entities and entity relationships. As a result, a corpus for pediatric bronchopneumonia EMRs, containing a total of 48,756 named entities and 9,558 entity relationships, was constructed. The inter-annotator agreement for the annotated data reached 98%. This work provides reliable data support for the study of named entity recognition and information extraction in Chinese EMRs, and is of significant importance for medical knowledge mining. © 2023 IEEE.

The Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) is a transmission frame network in optical communication. In this the light signals are utilized to transmit data of various frequencies at same time. DWDM plays a role in sending and receiving data through the existing fiber multi-channel communication system. This provides a practical method for increasing the system's limit. In this method fiber communication is used to transmit and receive more data over larger distance. The frequency of the signals ranges between 300GHz to 3000THz. The usage of Dispersion compensates fiber (DCF) can totally compensate for dispersion of 32 channel DWDM. DWDM is a network that allows us to increase data rates without having to replace the network system. Our MATLAB software will allow us all to modify signal consistency, power signal, noise signal, average BER and SNR and Q-factor in DWDM modulation in the 32-channel simulation process. The network's capacity is growing, with the sole change occurring at the receiving end. In order to desire the company clients to offer buyers with many types of assistance that allows us to boost data, we have DWDM this signal is simulated and optimized by reducing to 50km through amplifier. © 2022 IEEE.

The continuous development of modern mobile communication, radar and electronic countermeasure system has driven communication equipment towards miniaturization and multi-functionalization, so the communication system has higher requirements on the operating bandwidth characteristics, radiation characteristics, and volume size of antenna and array antenna. A 5G dual-polarized high gain small directional radiating Sub-6GHz antenna is proposed. The designed antenna consists of a coplanar waveguide feed, a dual element butterfly radiating patch, and a parasitic rectangular strip around the patch. The parasitic strip is used to increase the bandwidth of the antenna and also used to improve the directional characteristics of the antenna. It is verified by HFSS simulation that the antenna has a directional antenna with wide bandwidth and good directional radiation pattern, which is suitable for micro-deformation monitoring radar applications. © 2023 IEEE.

One of the advanced technologies designed for visually impaired people is the mechanical text-to-braille converter. In the last few decades, researchers have been involved in developing modern refreshable braille modules or displays. The Braille system is constructed from six dots in a grid of two columns containing three dots each. Raised dots present the letters of the alphabet. The main challenge is developing a mechanism for six dot movement which should be compact to fit the one-finger size. Modern braille displays are made by MEMS (Micro- electromechanical systems) devices which are not affordable for a wide range of users. This paper presents a prototype of the mechanical braille module that can be used as a text-to-braille converter. The main design parameters are cost, compactness, and easiness in controlling. The device includes an OCR system that uses a camera to recognize letters via image processing. The data from image processing is sent to the controller to manipulate the movement of the six dots by using servo motors. The text-to-voice function is also included to extend the functionality of the device. Most of the parts of the device can be 3D printed, which makes manufacturing easier and allows for customization. The obtained prototype showed the feasibility of the device and highlighted areas for improvement in its design and functionality. © 2023 IEEE.
