The sketching of planar kinematic chains is helpful for representing synthesis results in the graphic form. By the inherent relationship among links in the kinematic chain, the maximal loop and corresponding arc loops are generated. Based on cross-product operation, relative positions of links in the combined loop made up of other arc loops and maximum loop are ensured by moving some arc loops out of the maximum loop. Links in the outer circle can be furthered ensured by replacing some links in the outermost combined loop with links in the removed arc loops. Combined with concentric circles, definite positions of links from the outermost circle to the innermost circle are ensured in turn. Kinematic chains with 9 links, 14 links, and topological graph with 18 vertices are employed as demonstrative examples. Results show that the proposed automatic sketching method is available. This paper can contribute to the innovative computer-aided mechanism design. © 2024 ACM.

Sortation conveyor systems are used across various industries to help streamline the direction of objects from one conveyor line to another. Sortation conveyor systems are best suited for high throughput operations that generally receive mixed unit loads and discharge them to outfeed conveyors or designated locations. A shortcut provides extra paths to quickly sort parcels to destinations without long deliveries on the main conveyor. The main conveyor of the loop is unidirectional, while the shortcuts' conveyor is bidirectional. In this paper, an algorithm compounding ordinal optimization (OO) and binary seagull optimization (BSO) is presented to solve the layout optimization of shortcuts in sortation conveyor systems. BSO is a nature inspired algorithm that imitates the habits of food-hunting seagulls. The developed algorithm is used to find the layout optimization of shortcuts such that the capacity of the sortation conveyor systems is maximized. Simulation results reveal the remarkable advantages of the proposed algorithm in reaching diverse optimal designs and improving convergence speed. © 2023 IEEE.

Leveraging YOLOv8's segmentation capabilities, a drone is able to detect humans in its field of view to avoid collisions using only 2D information from a monocular RGB camera. To this end, in this work, the integration of a system composed of monocular ORB-SLAM2 and YOLOv8 is presented to enable autonomous drone navigation in indoor environments with human presence. This is achieved with a hierarchical control scheme that manages two tasks simultaneously: human avoidance and position regulation. Drone navigation uses a 3D map build with the ORB-SLAM2 technique. The human detection is done using the YOLOv8 deep learning approach and it's COCO database training. The system effectiveness is verified through experimental validation, where the drone encounters a human while navigating with a fixed height towards a target position defined in the map. control stability is ensured with the Lyapunov approach. The results obtained represent a promising safe drone navigation system in indoor environments with a stationary human.

In this paper, a comprehensive investigation of the performance evaluation and validation of a single-phase asynchronous motor pump system coupled with a photovoltaic (PV) power source is presented. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the practicality and effectiveness of this configuration for pumping applications. The RTLAB platform, which enables real-time simulation and emulation of dynamic systems, includes important components, such as the use of a single-phase asynchronous motor as the pump's power source, the incorporation of a PV system to supply renewable energy, and the use of RTLAB for real-time validation. Through rigorous simulation and experimentation, the motor response performance, such as speed, torque, and current response, was analyzed under varying solar irradiance and load conditions. In addition, the PV power and DC bus voltage were supervised after motor driving. This research fills the knowledge gap between the theoretical analysis and real-world applications of single-phase asynchronous motor pump systems combined with PV sources. This approach, which validates the results using RTLAB, provides a validation method to evaluate the performance and guide design choices for effective and environmentally friendly pumping solutions. Identification of vehicles is an important area of research. It has several applications namely toll gate fee management systems, automatic parking applications, theft prevention, traffic monitoring and ticket(fine) imposing etc. Presently, there are many vehicles manufacturers marketing various types of vehicles, and this has an increasing growth rate. It has become a difficult task to analyze various attributes of vehicles and to identify each one of them. Vehicle identification is the main objective of this project. Using license plate, different vehicles can be identified but it is troublesome when the license plate recognition fails in scenarios where the license plate is forged, missing, or covered. The attributes such as the model and make of the vehicle cannot be easily changed and this helps in recognition of vehicles easily. In this project, vehicle recognition mainly focuses on identifying the name of the vehicle manufacturing company. Further recognition is done by the extraction of the license plate number by employing Haar Cascade classifier. © 2023 IEEE.

Moving around in their surroundings is challenging for elderly people and people with visual impairments. The majority of functional sticks in use today are not intelligent and lack an innate ability to recognize obstacles. In an effort to address this issue, mobility and orientation specialists who assist the blind by teaching them to move freely and safely using their remaining senses are brought in. They can navigate around obstacles with the aid of guidance dogs as well. These techniques have drawbacks, such as the dogs' inability to comprehend complicated instructions, the high cost of maintaining these trained dogs, and the need to hire an expert. In light of the aforementioned difficulties, the "Smart walking stick"has become a potential answer. The "Mobile based walking stick"is a useful mobility aid with the capacity to call a relative who can help in the event of an accident, detect obstacles above ground level and pits using ultrasonic sensors, recognize when a collision has occurred, and call the user's mobile phone if it has been misplaced to share the location's GPS for use with GSM connectivity and to share with the user's mention contacts. With some visually disabled people as test subjects, a test case was run, and 95% of the time it was successful. © 2024 IEEE.

This work deals with an adaptive disturbance rejection controller which combines the equivalent control based integral sliding mode control (ISMC) strategy and a Mamdani fuzzy inference system (FIS) for trajectory tracking of a quadrotor vehicle subject to Dryden-type wind gusts. The FIS carries out an on-line estimation of the time constant of a low-pass filter (LPF) to extract the equivalent control from the discontinuous control signal. This strategy dynamically estimates the disturbances and uncertainties acting on the plant. The estimated disturbances are compensated via a feedback control law making the system insensitive to these undesired effects. Finally, numerical simulations to evaluate the proposed controller performing a simulated quadrotor flying inspection task are presented.

The integration of Internet of Things (IoT) technology into smart home systems has revolutionized patient monitoring by providing real-time health insights and automated environmental adjustments. This study focuses on designing and evaluating a smart home system with intelligent patient monitoring features, aimed at enhancing patient safety, comfort, and healthcare delivery. The system employs a network of IoT-enabled devices, including wearable health sensors, environmental monitors, and smart cameras, to track vital signs such as ECG, SPO2, and body temperature, along with environmental parameters like air quality, humidity, and temperature. The system achieved a high accuracy rate, with vital sign sensors demonstrating over 98% reliability across various metrics. A communication framework using Wi-Fi and MQTT protocols ensures seamless data transfer and real-time responsiveness. Edge computing enables low-latency data processing, while cloud analytics provide predictive insights for early health issue detection. Key findings demonstrate the system's efficiency in emergency response, with an average detection-to-alert time of 1.4 seconds, and its ability to adapt the environment based on health conditions with over 95% precision. Automated features such as temperature control, fall detection, and personalized lighting enhance patient care and well-being. This work underscores the transformative potential of smart home technologies in healthcare, paving the way for future advancements in personalized health monitoring systems. © 2024 IEEE.

The use of complex fuzzy systems to predict human thinking is an area of active research. These systems are based on fuzzy logic, which is an approach to computing based on approximation and imprecision. Fuzzy logic has been used in a variety of areas, such as control systems, image processing, decision support systems, and even robotics. The idea behind fuzzy logic is to use a combination of fuzzy rules, fuzzy sets, and fuzzy inference to approximate the decisions that humans make in complex situations. This means that the system can take into account the uncertainty of the situation and make a decision based on available data. The system can also be trained to recognize patterns in the data and make predictions about future decisions. In order to predict human thinking, a complex fuzzy system needs to be able to take into account a variety of factors, such as situational context, emotions, and values. For example, if a person is deciding whether to buy a car, the system would need to consider factors such as price, reliability, and environmental impact. The acoustic cavitation during the application of ultrasound has been witnessed with their effect in different media. For clinical applications, it has been showed as an undesired effect. The use of Finite Element Method has been related to computational solutions for solving problems of real life for clinical problems or therapeutic uses. This paper presents a simulation made with the Finite Element Method for the acoustic and thermal analysis in muscle and a blood vessel with a transducer of 20 mm of radius, for the comparison of behavior between both tissues and their possible relation with the acoustic cavitation phenomenon. The result obtained shows the map acoustic pressure distribution with a higher pressure in the blood vessel than the muscular tissue, and a temperature increase lower than 7°C from the initial temperature (37.5°C) in the blood vessel. This work was made as an approximation of our main goal of study of acoustic cavitation. © 2022 IEEE.
