In solar power plants, the accumulation of bird droppings may decrease power generation efficiency and necessitate manual cleaning, which can be difficult in large facilities. This paper proposes a solution to this problem through an automatic unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-based method for detecting, localizing, and cleaning bird droppings on a large solar power plant. An automated flight route is generated for a UAV to fly over the solar farm and capture images of the solar panels, which are then stitched together to create a high-resolution orthomosaic image of the farm. A new YOLOv7-based model is proposed, utilizing an attention module to suppress complex backgrounds and highlight bird dropping features, and an extra head is used to detect small droppings. To determine the GPS coordinates of bird droppings, an algorithm is developed that uses the azimuth angle and ground level distance (GLD) between detected bird droppings and a ground control point (GCP). Finally, a system for cleaning bird droppings is established using the travelling salesman problem (TSP) to guide the drone in visiting each detected dropping once. The experimental results have shown that our approach is successful in detecting and cleaning bird droppings on solar farms. Our system has achieved a high mAP of 93.91% in detecting the accumulated bird droppings on solar panels, and has been able to accurately locate the coordinates of the detected bird droppings with a mean error of 0.14 meters. © 2023 IEEE.

Tunnel lighting control systems that do not accurately sense changes in the tunnel's external lighting environment not only increase tunnel operating costs, but also may exacerbate the "black hole"and "white hole"effects that cause traffic safety accidents. In this paper, we use STM32F103RCT6 chip to design an illuminance detection device consisting of a light level acquisition module, STM32 development board and upper computer software to accurately detect the illuminance outside the tunnel, and it can be successfully applied to the tunnel lighting control system to send data to the control system. Based on the accurate acquisition of illuminance data outside the tunnel, the software designs an accurate processing algorithm to reject abnormal data and a multi-sensor data fitting algorithm, and finally verifies through experimental testing that the hardware system designed in this paper with the data processing algorithm can accurately reject the abnormal values of illuminance data outside the tunnel and provide accurate external light data for the tunnel lighting control system. © 2023 IEEE.

Multiport converters (MPC) design is promising from the point of view of centralized control and compact packaging. The basic bidirectional switching cells present several possibilities for constructing a multiport converter. This paper discusses a technique which is termed as switched-boost action, it produces two controlled ports using time-multiplexing of switches. This technique permits regulation and control of all the outputs while utilising comparatively fewer switches. An alternative to traditional DC-DC topology, multiple-output converters with a single input source are now being researched in order to increase power density in small powered multiload appliances. With the help of a switched boost MPC, a solar panel with battery storage system and household loads are connected. The battery is connected to the 12 V bus. The converter's functionality is tested with solar PV, which feeds a 12 V battery and a 36 V load bus. The converter automatically switches to a mode in which the 12 V battery powers the loads on the 36 V bus when solar power is absent. © 2023 IEEE.

Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy (TDLAS) technology combines the advantages of wavelength modulation technology and direct absorption spectroscopy technology, and the system achieves highly sensitive and full-range detection of methane gas concentrations. In the system, only the pure optical methane probe is positioned under the mine, which establishes connectivity with the host computer on the surface through the optical fiber. This setup enables the simultaneous detection of 16 channels of methane gas through time-sharing multiplexing technology. Experimental results demonstrate a measurement error of less than ±6.0×10-4 at low concentrations (041%) and within ±6% of the true value at high concentrations under normal temperature and pressure conditions. The full-range linear fit attains 0.9998. According to the one-fold standard deviation, the minimum detection lower limit of the system stands at 68.36 ppm and the measured gas concentrations across different channels of the methane probes remain consistent inhe same environment. This technology provides a new solution for continuous, accurate, and multi-point monitoring of mine gas. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Today's growing urban population means increased revenue for individuals, translating into growing vehicles on the road. Nowadays, people use their private vehicles instead of public transportation, which results in a considerable number of personal vehicles that lead totraffic congestion everywhere. The ever-increasing number of vehicles and complex congestion leads to frequent traffic jams in major cities. In today's scenario, traditional traffic management methods have become redundant as the traffic volume has grown exponentially. The primary goal of this proposed work is to develop an algorithm that uses machine learning to control traffic effectively and ensure efficient traffic flow in the event of unforeseen events like accidents. The existing algorithm focuses on predicting shortterm traffic flow but ignores that traffic congestion may also occur due to accidents and emergencies. Our proposed model will consider all the above factors and use dynamic signal switching among lanes to predict the best and most efficient solution to reducing waiting time for vehicles and congestion on the road. To create an effective traffic flow management model with the least amount of road mayhem, our suggested model needs traffic data as input, which was then trained using various Machine Learning (ML) models. © 2023 IEEE.

Due to the distributed nature of the electrical grid, intelligent, timely control of critical components such as volt-age regulators, capacitor banks and switches in a highly dynamic environment is extremely challenging. Modern day localized controllers in a distribution system such as remote ter-minal units (RTUs) and programmable logic units (PLCs) are often housed in a substation with multiple connections to several critical controls and are thus good candidates for hosting advanced localized control via deep reinforcement learning (DRL) or evolutionary learning. Additionally, it is feasible to greatly reduce the computational throughput and provide fine-grained control measurement and control using a spiking neural network (SNN) neural processing unit (NPU) architecture. In this paper we explore the use of a hybrid grid control algorithm composed of an optimized genetic algorithm (GA) and SNN controller which acquires optimal distribution system voltage control policies while a system is experiencing a cyber adver-sary's injected control noise. We discuss the computational advantages of the GA-SNN hybrid algorithm in the fine-grained autonomous control of a grid's bus voltages using a commercially available neuromorphic system on chip system (NSoC) with a mean rated power consumption of 1 mW and observed mean prediction time of 4 msecs per inference. © 2024 IEEE.

The global impact of the Covid-19 outbreak has threatened the social and economic fabric of the communities, and altered the nature of lives. Today, as the major health risks of COVID-19 seem to be receding, it is crucial to pause, ponder and plan to progress after the crisis to be better prepared for the future. In view of the rising of physical retail transactions, it is noticed that the physical shopping crowd has returned since people loathed the feeling of being cooped up in the house during movement control orders. As such, a contactless intelligent shopping cart could be an ideal invention. This paper aims to design and develop an intelligent shopping cart with an automatic following function, which is capable of trailing shoppers while avoiding obstacles along the way with its built-in obstacle detection function. The proposed design embeds renewable energy technology into the cart by using solar-charged batteries to power up the sensors and controllers on the cart. The results show that the successful prototype fulfils the objectives of extending convenience to people from the perspective of social, environmental and health for the sustainable development of tomorrow. © 2023 IEEE.

This is an innovative project from an energy-saving perspective. This project ensures that users become in control of their energy consumption and able to take an actively reducing their carbon footprints. It provides users with an interface to input details about household appliances and usage patterns, through which a correct calculation of the carbon footprint could be done. Compared against standard norms, it would help the users identify certain areas where improvement is possible and adopt more sustainable use of energy. Apart from personalized energy assessments, it has now become the central source that connects users to local schemes and initiatives on sustainable energy, including information on resources and programs into waste energy and carbon emission reduction. This integration, therefore, promotes more engagement and involvement within the community as users are nudged to join in the efforts that are being made for the goal of energy conservation. The platform educates its users about energy consumption and aids them in making green choices in data;however, with a holistic approach in carbon footprint management and education pertaining to sustainable long-term behavior, the process takes place through integrated accurate energy tracking, fine recommendations, and community-driven action. © 2025 IEEE.

In recent years, reinforcement learning (RL) algorithms have exhibited significant potential in controlling underactuated mechanical systems, offering a distinct approach from conventional control theory. However, RL agents trained in nominal environments may experience performance degradation when confronted with external disturbances. This work investigates the impact of combining the learned policy of a RL agent with a feedback linearization (FL) controller to compensate the nonlinearities and parametric uncertainties in order to stabilize the Furuta pendulum. This hybrid control scheme enhances the robustness of the acquired policy. Through numerical simulations, we compare the proposed scheme with an approach based on FL with adaptive neural compensation (ANC), revealing superior performance in the presence of external disturbances when RL-based compensation is used.

Non-orthogonal multiple access is one of the best methods for addressing the needs of 5G wireless services (NOMA). The proliferation of mobile devices in recent years has increased the importance of cooperative spectrum sharing and utilization in wireless communication due to increases in the bit error rate (BER) brought on by collisions and interference. In this study, MIMO and Massive MIMO (M-MIMO) in the downlink (DL) NOMA power domain (PD) in conjunction with the Cooperative Cognitive Radio Network are proposed as two new ways for improving and evaluating BER in the 5G network (CCRN). Customers of NOMA compete for available channels on the CCRN in this first strategy. The second approach creates a dedicated channel for NOMA users. Three scenarios with varying distances, power location coefficients, and transmission power are used to evaluate the proposed methods in the MATLAB software program. It is assumed that four users will share a 90 MHz BW using QPSK modulation in all three scenarios. When evaluating the performance of the suggested system under the presumption of frequency-selective Rayleigh fading, concurrent interference cancellation (SIC) and unstable channel conditions are also considered. © 2023 IEEE.
