The health monitoring of cows is crucial in livestock farming, particularly for calves, which are more susceptible to infectious diseases than adult cattle. This vulnerability is significantly influenced by the maturation of the calf’s immune system, rearing environment, and stress management. Traditional methods of health monitoring require substantial manpower, which can be impractical and inefficient. This paper proposes an automatic body temperature detection system for calves using thermal imaging. Leveraging the capabilities of thermal images, which are widely used in security, medical, and industrial applications, this system aims to identify and monitor the body temperature of calves. By detecting the head and eyes of the calf and extracting temperature data through the Detectron2 object detection method, the system can provide timely notifications to farmers or veterinarians. The overall average detection rate of head and eye regions was 94.5%. This approach enhances the efficiency of livestock health management, reducing the reliance on manual labor and enabling early detection of health issues. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

We propose LEUSIM (Lightweight Extendable User SIMulator), an automatic testing and assessing framework for commercial Chinese task-oriented dialogue systems. LEUSIM contains four modules, namely, natural language parser, business flow controller, user utterance imitator and system performance recorder, which can be directly obtained from the existing telephone intelligent customer service (TICS) system without or with a little adaptation. Having dependency parsing theory as its theoretical basis, LEUSIM can fully imitate the users' behavior and make it an applicable testing framework in real world scenario. © 2025 IEEE.

This work pertains to the generation of navigation functions for obstacle avoidance and target tracking. One initially defines a so-called spherical world which can be further mapped into many other different topologies using a series of diffeomorphic transformations. This specific configuration further allows one to exploit the main advantages of the sum function approach with respect to the obstacle collision avoidance capabilities of an agent, sum function which is used in order to induce an effective navigation function judging not only from computational perspective, but also from the local minima point of view. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Resilient operation of cloud-native applications is a critical requirement to service continuity, and to fostering trust in the cloud paradigm. So far, service meshes have been offering resiliency to a subset of failures. But, they fall short in achieving idempotency for HTTP POST requests. In fact, their current resiliency measures may escalate the impact of a POST request failure. Besides, the current tight control over failures - within central clouds - is being threatened by the growing distribution of applications across heterogeneous clouds. Namely, in moving towards a fog-native paradigm of applications. This renders achieving both idempotency and request satisfaction for POST microservices a non-trivial challenge. To address this challenge, we propose a novel, two-pattern, resiliency solution: Idempotency and Completer. The first is an idempotency management system that enables safe retries, following transient network/infrastructure failure. While the second is a FaaS-based completer system that enables automated resolution of microservice functional failures. This is realised through systematic integration and application of developer-defined error solvers. The proposed solution has been implemented as a fog-native service, and integrated over example service mesh Consul. The solution is evaluated experimentally, and results show considerable improvement in user satisfaction, including 100% request completion rate. The results further illustrate the scalability of the solution and benefit in closing the current gap in service mesh systems. Supply Chain Management (SCM) worldwide makes major advancements through the Internet of Things (IoT) by enabling real-time monitoring and prediction analytics and automatic decision capabilities in worldwide deliver chains. Through IoT technology integration with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and blockchain and cloud computing the supply chain solves major operational problems including monitoring difficulties and waste reduction and regulatory compliance requirements and operation leadership deficits. The implementation of IoT for supply chain management encounters major adoption barriers from high installation costs combined with security risks and operability complications as well as limited scalability capacity that affects especially small to medium enterprises (SMEs) and developing markets. The evaluation paper examines the shifting impact of IoT in supply chain management which enhances performance metrics and brings greater clarity and strengthens supply chain resilience. A scientist studied existing papers and case studies to reveal several essential advantages which include better inventory management, predictive analysis systems and more effective supply-chain collaborations. The analysis emphasizes effective solutions for security privacy and moral and environmental issues to guarantee sustainable expanded IoT adoption. This paper delivers practical knowledge alongside best practices to help organizations adopt IoT systems which create adaptable efficient deliver chains with sustainability at their core thus achieving long-term market benefits in today's complex global marketplace. © 2025 IEEE.

Especially in static situations, image stitching has been routinely used to seamlessly merge many photographs into a panorama. Using it in dynamic and real-time environments, however, presents a number of difficulties, such as managing shifting objects, changing surroundings, and processing limitations. An image stitching look at that works well in dynamic real-time situations is presented in this paper. The method makes use of GNN-based feature matching, dynamic object removal, and real-time synthesis techniques. Comparative studies suggest that, in comparison to traditional methods like SIFT and ORB, the suggested approach meets real-time processing requirements while achieving greater registration precision, lower homography RMSE, and consistent panoramic outputs. The findings imply that the algorithm might be used in fields where precision and efficiency are required in dynamic circumstances, like parking management systems, sports broadcasting, and autonomous driving. © 2025 IEEE.

In recent years, Reinforcement Learning (RL) has emerged as a promising approach for addressing control problems in complex, nonlinear environments. The ability of RL algorithms to autonomously learn optimal control policies without requiring an explicit system model makes them particularly suited for real-time applications in fields like robotics and industrial automation. This paper investigates the application of RL algorithms for controlling a magnetic levitation (maglev) system, which presents significant challenges due to its nonlinear dynamics. The Twin Delayed Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (TD3) algorithm and the integration of Prioritized Experience Replay (PER) are employed to enhance learning efficiency. The impact of varying action noise (random perturbations added to actions) for exploration and system performance is explored;results demonstrate that TD3 with PER achieves superior stability, faster convergence, and reduced rise and settling times without overshoot. These findings emphasize the importance of tailored exploration strategies in optimizing control policies for complex environments, highlighting the potential of advanced RL techniques for real-time control applications. © 2025 IEEE.

This paper tackles the challenging issue of collision avoidance among multiple dynamical agents, a problem known for its non-convex nature and computational complexity. Our proposed solution involves decomposing the space into time-varying Voronoi cells with buffer zones, exploiting the versatility of B-splines to reconfigure trajectories when collisions are predicted. This approach is integrated into a Model Predictive control (MPC) framework, implemented in a distributed manner where agents communicate predicted control point sequences defining the B-spline curves. Through simulation testing across various scenarios, our approach demonstrates significant promise, paving the way for experimental validation and real-world applications. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

The advancement of YOLO and similar computer vision models represents a technological era that could revolutionize numerous aspects of day-to-day life, including traffic management. This study explores the feasibility of utilizing YOLOv8 for pedestrian detection and counting to control traffic light timing sequences at isolated pedestrian crossings. By employing the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B with a camera module, real-time pedestrian video data can be captured and processed through YOLOv8. For the hardware, three LEDs and a Dot Matrix Module replicate conventional traffic light signals and timing, effectively simulating a traffic light system. The capabilities of the custom YOLOv8 model are evaluated through pedestrian detection accuracy, calculated by percentage error across twenty samples. Results reveal an average percent error of 7.33%, indicating 92.67% accuracy in pedestrian detection and counting. These findings underscore the model’s competence for pedestrian-based adaptive traffic light control, highlighting its potential to enhance practicality and safety at pedestrian crossings by dynamically adjusting signal timings based on real-time pedestrian activity. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).
