Takeaway delivery has become an important part of urban life. However, terminal deliveries are often blocked by security measures that often prevent them from arriving on time. Designing a takeaway delivery robot can solve this problem to a large extent. In this paper, path planning algorithm level of designing a takeaway robot is researched. In this paper, the research is carried out by closely focusing on the current stage of the path planning algorithm related difficulties. Three typical algorithms are selected for simulation testing within the scope of graph search algorithms. These three algorithms are Dijkstra algorithm, A∗ algorithm and rapidly-exploring random tree (RRT) algorithm. The final comparison is made with the simulation test results. And to find the optimal path planning algorithm for takeaway delivery robots within the range of graph search algorithms. This paper provides a reference for the path planning algorithm level of takeaway delivery robot design. At the same time, it helps to improve the delivery service of takeaway terminal. © The Institution of engineering & Technology 2024.

This paper presents the use of Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks as models for prediction in the Model Predictive control (MPC) algorithm. LSTMs are recurrent neural networks often used to model dynamical processes. MPC is an advanced control technique using a process model to calculate online predictions. MPC sets the control policy for the process by solving an optimisation problem to minimise the prediction error and not violate the constraints. This paper compares two LSTM model architectures for MPC in a process with Multiple Inputs and Multiple Outputs (MIMO): a single LSTM model with multiple inputs and multiple outputs (LSTM MIMO) and several parallel LSTM models, each with Multiple Inputs and Single Output (LSTM MISO). The quality of modelling using these two architectures is analysed. Next, the selected MIMO and MISO LSTM models are implemented in the MPC algorithm. Finally, the control quality and execution time are investigated. It is concluded that both MIMO and MISO approaches offer distinct advantages;however, for the benchmark neutralisation reactor, MIMO models provide a more efficient solution for MPC implementation. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

This paper considers a trajectory tracking problem in motion control of a mobile platform. The platform is designed to have differential drive, Arduino microcontroller, Bluetooth connectivity and is battery powered, thus representing a complete mechatronic system. The task at this stage was to provide the platform motion along simple desired trajectories, such as straight lines and curves. During its motion, the platform draws its trajectory on the surface, upon which motion accuracy can be evaluated. Odometry approach is used in solving this task where each wheel motor is driven within a cascaded control structure with conventional digital controllers. Experimental results of several tests are presented and analyzed.

Lithium-ion batteries typically experience performance degradation during use, which can lead to failures or accidents when aging is severe. Assessing the state of health (SOH) of a battery is essential for refining battery stewardship and upkeep protocols, ensuring its secure and steadfast long-term functionality. Data-driven approaches for estimating the SOH of lithium-ion batteries are advancing swiftly, leading to the development of a novel model, WOA-MLP, for SOH estimation in lithium-ion batteries. Firstly, by analyzing the aging mechanism of lithium-ion batteries and the changing law of the charging voltage curve during the aging process, three health features (HFs), including constant-current (CC) charging time, constant-voltage (CV) charging time and the charging energy of the CC charging process are extracted. Then extracted HFs are inputted into the Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) for the estimation of SOH. The hyper-parameters of the MLP are optimized by using the Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA), which comprises the hybrid data-driven model WOA-MLP. Finally, the efficacy of the method introduced is corroborated using a public battery dataset. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Medical thermography is considered an auxiliary technique in preventive medicine, treatment monitoring, and surgery. However, the true value of thermography lies in quantitative studies so that the information presented to the human eye can be maximized. To this end, it is essential to preserve the radiometric data that may provide information to quantitative studies, e.g., temperature difference analysis, segmentation, contrast adjustments, artifact removal, etc. However, certain thermographic equipment may not be radiometric so only a mapped thermal image known as a false color image can be obtained. Therefore, the radiometric aspect must be considered to perform quantitative studies. This paper presents the comparison between processing radiometric data matrices and false color images. The methods employed were segmentation of the region of interest (RoI) and contrast adjustment once segmented. The segmentation method is based on thresholding, in which an optimal threshold was found to be approximately 0.8 for radiometric arrays and 0.6 for grayscale images that were not transformed from an RGB image. In conclusion, using radiometric data arrays has advantages over using RGB images as input information. Moreover, medical thermography should not only consider a qualitative aspect when it comes to diagnostics, but the validation of thermography lies in quantitative studies based on radiometric input. © 2022 IEEE.

Electrosurgery is a surgical procedure that applies a high-frequency electrical current to the patient for specific purposes, such as cutting tissue. Electronic devices usually perform this task in an open loop, where the surgeon establishes the desired voltage, current, or power to perform the cut. However, tissue bioimpedance varies due to many factors, such as anisotropy, temperature, humidity, and frequency, which makes the required load unknown during the process. This paper proposes a closed-loop power regulation scheme based on a PI controller for tissue-cutting tasks. The experiments in animal tissue demonstrate that the proposed scheme guarantees the power supply despite changes in the tissue's bioimpedance. Therefore, the result significantly improves the cutting efficiency compared to open-loop operation.

This article aims to present experimental results of nMOSFETs from a 180 nm commercial CMOS technology, with different channel lengths, operating at temperatures ranging from 80 K to 300 K. The source-drain resistance $(\mathbf{R}_{\mathbf{SD}})$ , threshold voltage $(\mathbf{V}_{\mathbf{TH}})$ , subthreshold slope (SS), low-field mobility $(\boldsymbol{\mu}_{\mathbf{0}})$ , and the linear $(\boldsymbol{\theta}_{\mathbf{1}})$ and quadratic $(\boldsymbol{\theta}_{\mathbf{2}})$ mobility degradation factors were extracted. The extraction of $\mathbf{R}_{\mathbf{SD}}$ yielded an average value of $\mathbf{61.90} \pm \mathbf{3.83}\ \mathbf{\Omega}$ all devices and temperatures. Comparing all the devices, as the temperature decreased, $\mathbf{V}_{\mathbf{TH}}$ showed an increase in its value between 22.3 % and 33.9 %; SS showed a decrease between 59.7 % and 62.1 % of its value; $\boldsymbol{\mu}_{\mathbf{0}}$ increased 162.4 % for the shorter device and 243.2 % for the longer device; $\boldsymbol{\theta}_{\mathbf{1}}$ varied less for longer devices; and $\boldsymbol{\theta}_{\mathbf{2}}$ showed more variations in its values, being less intense in shorter devices. Analyzing the channel shortening, the rate of change $\mathbf{dV}_{\mathbf{TH}}/\mathbf{dT}$ showed, in magnitude, a decrease from 0.696 mV/K to 0.561 mV/K, the rate of change dSS/dT showed an increase from $\mathbf{0.197}\ \mathbf{mV} /(\mathbf{dec} \cdot \mathbf{~K})$ to $\mathbf{0.223}\ \mathbf{mV}/(\mathbf{dec}\cdot \mathbf{K})$ , and the ZTC was from 0.67 V to 0.77 V.

Water tree is the deterioration phenomenon of insulating materials due to the ingress of water during operation. In order to reveal the change characteristics of the water tree morphology during the aging process of the silicone rubber water tree, an experimental platform for silicone rubber water branch aging was built, the morphology of the water tree in silicone rubber was observed, and a possible explanation was proposed. Silicone rubber samples were subjected to an accelerated water tree aging test in sodium chloride solution with a concentration of 1.8 mol/L for 2 weeks. The morphology of the water tree was observed, and the results were analyzed. The results showed that the morphology of the water tree in silicone rubber was inconsistent with that in XLPE, which was manifested in the following aspects. The average length of the water tree in silicone rubber was 50 μm, and the water tree grew along the wall of the pinhole. After dyeing, the morphology of the branches could be observed, but branches at the pinhole wall gradually disappeared within 15 minutes. After reheating, the water branches reappeared. In silicone rubber, the birthrate of the water tree in the silicone rubber water branch aging test was low, only 1/8 in this experiment. Its growth rate was 0.18 μm/h. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The progress of science, technology, and innovation is greatly aided by the advancement, improvement, and use of methodology. Our work developed a Characteristic Recognition Algorithm based on text mining to extract methodology metadata from full-text documents and identify characteristics that are methodologically driven by time trend, dissemination speed, and co-drive. A sample of 5564 publications from the economic and management (E&M) discipline were chosen, from which 9,995 methodological metadata were extracted and classified into 4 categories: model, software & tool (S&T), data, and method & theory (M&T). The co-occurrence trait was revealed using the social network approach. Results indicate that over the past 20 years, the methodology's usage rate has increased, reaching 78.49% in 2019 alone. While S&T, model, and data have slowed down, M&T has the highest usage rate, which is reflected in a continually rising diffusion feature. The outcomes of knowledge creation in E&M exhibit the features of multi-methodology that is frequently driven, including M&T (hypotheses, questionnaire surveys), data (China Statistical Yearbook, wind, and CSMAR), model (double difference and logit), and S&T (SPSS, Amos, LISREL). The process of defining characteristics of approach metadata-driven knowledge production will be applied to different areas as a preliminary investigation, as well as used as training material for the automatic extraction of large-scale corpora. © 2024 IEEE.

As a typical high-order, nonlinear system, high-speed trains have a high requirement for control precision. In order to address the speed tracking control problem of trains during high-speed operation, a finite-time sliding mode- disturbance rejection controller is designed. Firstly, this paper establishes the state-space equations of a single mass-spring-damper train based on existing research. For the second-order control system, a finite-time sliding mode controller is designed. To address the issues of significant chattering and time delay in the sliding mode controller, a finite-time control law is designed to optimize the controller structure. Secondly, by treating both internal and external disturbances during train operation as extended state estimates, the robustness of the system is enhanced. The Smith predictor structure is combined to further enhance the system's transient characteristics. Additionally, in specific simulation examples, the tracking performance of the proposed finite-time sliding mode disturbance rejection algorithm is compared with traditional PD control and linear sliding mode control, and its effectiveness is analyzed. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm has stronger disturbance rejection capability, higher tracking accuracy, and faster response speed compared to other traditional algorithms. This method holds academic value and practical application potential in other speed tracking and motion control scenarios. © 2023 IEEE.
