The development of modulation schemes that avoid any detrimental effect on the quality of illumination become a major challenge in the design of Visible Light Communication (VLC) systems. This paper is focused on the transmission of data using the available bandwidth of white light emitting diode (LED). The design of encoding and decoding waveforms for spectral Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA)-based VLC is considered. Unlike conventional temporal encoding direct sequence (DS) CDMA, code information is impressed on amplitudes of sub-bands. The light source is modulated by a sequence of short pulses using temporal spreading allowing control of leakage in the direct current (DC) sub-band thereby mitigating the harmful flicker effect. In order to ensure that illumination does not present unwanted changes of brightness, the chromaticity of the white light source is maintained by inserting pilots embedded in the spectra of signature waveforms. A noncoherent ultra-wideband (UWB) energy detector based on transversal filter (TF) processing is investigated. It is seen that the despread operation converts energy from matched waveforms, whereas unmatched codes, which constitutes the foremost source of interference in the VLC channel, can be fully rejected. Advantages and challenges of the spectral proposal are discussed.

Electric power generation based on locally available energy resources like wind and solar has increased at a significant rate to meet the electrical demand. To improve the reliability of this generation, they are being integrated into the electrical distribution network (EDN). This has affected the voltage/frequency profiles of EDN and also increased the stress on the distribution transformers due to variations in the active power flow. Thus, it has necessitated the usage of reactive power compensating devices for improving the voltage regulation, and storage system to smoothen the active power demand from the EDN. An Energy storage connected Statcom(EsSt) can be used to regulate the voltage at the Common Coupling Point(CCP) support the active power demand EDN. The EsSt can be configured with use of voltage source converter and it integrated with battery storage system. The dual active bridge(DAB) based dc-dc converter has been used to integrate the low voltage storage modules at the dc-link, To obtain the desired multi-functional performance from the EsSt, the controller parameters are to be selected appropriately using bodeplot analysis and a genetic algorithm(GA). The comparative analysis shows that the controller tuned using GA has better performance than bodeplot analysis. © 2022 IEEE.

Due to the increase in population accompanied by the expansive growth of urban residential areas, the demand for efficient and reliable water distribution systems has increased rapidly. And as urbanisation increases day by day this demand for water is equal to the need for sustainable water management and distribution systems. Thus, it becomes an utmost necessity for the implementation of proper controlling and monitoring mechanisms to prevent wastage of water and also attempts of water theft. As a solution to these challenges, many advanced technologies have been identified all over the world to ensure effective distribution of water to reach every household especially in urban areas. Therefore, my paper estimates and understands the current state of automated water distribution systems with a prime focus on monitoring performance and control through PLC (programmable logic controller) applications. In the initial areas of this paper, it focuses on the basic concept of automatic water distribution that has been implemented in the current scenario in urban areas. This study includes thorough research on the details of the system, how it is operated, its principles, and intended functions. The next stage of research will be focussed on a comparative analysis of various technologies that have been studied and implemented in the field of automated water distribution. This paper shows key innovations, challenges and future goals in the realm of automated water distribution. It also shows the possibility for the integration of PLC systems, discussing how efficiently these systems contribute to the optimization of the water distribution process. Thus, proving PLC systems plays a crucial role in improving the overall performance and sustainability of water distribution systems by monitoring real-time data. © 2024 IEEE.

Human gender classification based on biometric features is a major concern for computer vision due to its vast variety of applications. The human ear is popular among researchers as a soft biometric trait, because it is less affected by age or changing circumstances and is non-intrusive. In this study, we have developed a deep convolutional neural network (CNN) model for automatic gender classification using the samples of ear images. The performance is evaluated using four cutting-edge pre-trained CNN models. In terms of trainable parameters, the proposed technique requires significantly less computational complexity. The proposed model has achieved 93% accuracy on the EarVN1.0 ear dataset. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Frequency modulation and power control are two important additional control functions of DC to improve the frequency stability of the system. A quick active power support strategy according to local frequency trigger is adopted for the faults in the system which the actual power disturbance cannot be monitored in real time effectively. Based on the maximum adjustable DC capacity and the power disturbance quantity that the system can endure, the maximum adjustable range of power control is set according to the upper limit under the conservative principle to avoid triggering the risk of high or under frequency caused by the emergency DC power control, and the remaining regulation is set as DC frequency modulation. The simulation based on realistic power grid indicates that this method not only ensures the effective display of the quick adjustment ability of DC, but also realizes the automatic quick call back when the DC power control malfunctions under the short-time power disturbance. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

When it comes to energy-efficient manufacturing, this report tackles some of the most important concerns raised by companies and academic institutions. Both production management and the integration of information and communication technology systems with respect to energy efficiency performance criteria are encompassed in the research question (RQ). The requirements of the corporate sector were considered alongside solutions that had previously been detailed in the literature. Findings show that methods exist for keeping tabs on, managing, and improving production processes. Organizational, facility, and procedure-level energy management in manufacturing is an area where these methods are seldom effective. A gap persists in industrial organizations between possible solutions and their actual execution. To close the gap between theory and practise, research into effective and efficient energy management in manufacturing is necessary. Managers in the manufacturing sector may use this data to make more informed, faster business decisions based on real energy usage. Key performance indicators (KPIs) for energy efficiency should be defined and specified in a way that allows for quantitative measurement at the plant level. Seeing how energy efficiency stacks up against other metrics is essential for decision-makers looking at production performance areas from multiple angles. © 2024 IEEE.

For the hypersonic morphing flight vehicle (HMFV) dynamic strong uncertainty, time-varying, integration of control and decision problem, the engineering application requirements and difficulties are analyzed, and three feasibility schemes of control/decision are presented. Firstly, the significance, classification and development of morphing aircrafts are summarized;secondly, combining with the engineering needs, some detailed discussion on research challenges and key points are provided;thirdly, focusing on the HMFV control and decision problem, three general schemes for the HFMV control and decision issues are presented, including the intelligent anti-disturbance rejection control schemes, the high-precision control with RBF neural network scheme, and the intelligent control/decision integration scheme;finally, the paper is summarized and the further research directions are discussed. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

In distributed photovoltaic (PV) systems, the grid operator may impose the limit of power injected by the PV system at the point of common coupling. This power limit might be lower than the power generated by the PV system during the peak generation hour. In this work, we propose a flexible power point tracking (FPPT) method based on model predictive control for grid-connected photovoltaic inverters. A finite control set-model predictive controller (FCS-MPC) for the control of the inverter DC bus voltage and the grid current is employed to operate at the desired reference voltage set by the FPPT algorithm and inject the desired PV-generated power into the utility grid. The grid-side controller injects the power with a unity power factor using the voltage-oriented control principle in a rotational d-q reference frame. The rotation of the d-q reference frame is synchronized by the phase-locked loop algorithm. The validity of the proposed control system is confirmed through experimental tests conducted with the aid of solar array and grid simulators, a microlabbox controller, and a two-level inverter paired with an R-L filter. © 2023 IEEE.

Our aim of the project is to create an automatic energy monitoring and billing system through a cayenne application. This article presents the development of an exoskeleton designed to assist ankle flexion and extension in patients with reduced mobility, such as those with foot drop. The device is oriented towards passive rehabilitation exercises, for which a dynamic model of the exoskeleton is obtained using position and angular velocity sensors, considering the natural biomechanics of the limb and the degrees of freedom associated with its physiology. The implementation of a Proportional Derivative (PD) control with an additional term allows the ankle movement to be controlled precisely. Likewise, an inertial sensor is integrated that classifies the phases of gait by measuring the inclination of the foot with respect to the ground, generating precise commands to control the ankle movement. The simulation results suggest that the exoskeleton has a high potential to improve assistance processes, correctly following the defined trajectories and adapting to the different phases of movement, which facilitates a more efficient recovery in patients.
