Vehicle accidents have a significant impact on society, and they have a number of detrimental repercussions on individuals, families, and communities. Vehicles are an essential part of everyone’s daily lives in the modern world;therefore, it is very important to drive them in a cautious manner to prevent accidents. A side mirror is very important equipment in a vehicle as it helps drivers with a view of the area behind and to the sides of the vehicle. The proposed work focuses on the enhancement of artificial intelligence (AI)-based automatic side mirror folding systems in addition with vehicle and signboard detection as driver alert measures. The system proposed inspects authorized persons with the help of face detection and fingerprint verification applications provided via individual phones. The signboard detection helps the driver to notice signboards to make necessary adjustments in very crowded traffic areas, and vehicle detection helps the driver to drive in a cautious manner, specifically when taking turns in highly congested areas with the help of Internet of Things (IOT) applications. The system checks for the presence of signboards, monitors the surroundings, and supervises the security of the vehicle using face detection and android app-based fingerprint verification. The proposed AI-based method achieved the 95.5% testing accuracy for unregistered persons with the help of face detection and fingerprint verification. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

This work analyzes the computing performance of distributed control systems in IEC 61499 on two hardware devices, Dell XPS workstation and Raspi 4B. Based on the test IEC 61499 application, three different system configurations are tested to simulate the distribution options of singleprocess and single-thread, multi-threading, and multi-process on both hardware platforms. Experimental results show that multiprocess configurations yield more consistent execution time due to dedicated resource allocation, while multi-threading, though resource-efficient, can lead to latency variability. These results aim at help in choosing optimal configurations and selecting hardware for performance in distributed automation systems. © 2025 IEEE.

In recent years, activities across countries have increasingly been carried out digitally, with information being shared over networks to boost speed and efficiency. However, this digital transformation poses security threats. Cybercrime has consistently evolved, necessitating improved network security measures to combat digital scams. To maintain security, users are assigned unique identification passwords, which they are instructed to keep secret. Despite this, attackers often manage to steal passwords. To counter these threats, we propose using honeywords, which are decoy passwords created from the existing user password. If an attacker inputs a honeyword, an alert is activated for the administrator. Moreover, we implement IP and location monitoring for users and introduce a approach known as the video click-based CAPTCHA system. This scheme authenticates users by distinguishing between humans and bots, addressing issues in traditional graphic password CAPTCHA schemes. This architecture significantly enhances protection and security of data and applications over online networks. © 2025 IEEE.

The consensus control is a key issue in the research of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) swarm. Molecular dynamics is a method of stimulating complex group emergence behavior through simple interactions between individuals. This article draws inspiration from the principles of molecular dynamics to building a collective dynamics model for UAV swarm. Firstly, using Vicsek model to construct the self-organizing motion computational model. Then, using the Lennard-Jones two-body interaction potential in molecular dynamics as the interaction law of UAV swarm. By analyzing the Newtonian mechanical forces between each UAV in the swarm, consensus control of the UAV swarm can be achieved. Finally, simulation verification was conducted to analyze the effects of different power potential functions, different scales of swarm, and different white noise coefficient on the consensus control of UAV swarm. It is concluded that the 8–4 potential has better results for consensus control of UAV swarm and has good control effects on small, medium, and large scales UAV swarm. However, consensus cannot be fully guaranteed under strong noise conditions. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Very recently, a memory-efficient version (called MeZO) of simultaneous perturbation stochastic approximation (SPSA), one well-established zeroth-order optimizer from the automatic control community, has shown competitive fine-tuning performance on large language models (LLMs) with billions of weights under the limited memory of a single GPU, which often hinders the direct usage of the standard backpropagation (BP) update. Furthermore, population-based evolutionary methods (such as evolution strategies from OpenAI and population-based training from DeepMind) have shown a promising direction to improving and scaling up various large-scale AI systems via efficiently utilizing increasingly available distributed computing resources, owing to their relatively simple yet efficient data and control flows. In this paper, we propose a population-based SPSA for fine-tuning LLMs with non-differentiable objective functions. Specifically, our proposed method combines the desirable exploration ability of distributed population-based evolutionary methods with the powerful exploitation ability of SPSA in the modern distributed computing environment wherein the efficient implementation of BP is still challenging because of its complex dependencies in forward-pass and backward-pass information flows. Simulation experiments on a set of challenging (non-differentiable) natural language process tasks empirically validate the potential of our method on fine-tuning even in a relatively small-scale distributed computing scenario. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

The creation of new approaches to the design and configuration of smart buildings relies heavily on AI tools and Machine Learning (ML) algorithms, particularly optimization techniques. The widespread use of electronic devices has sparked a strong desire to incorporate the Internet of Things (IoT) into houses, leading to the development of smart homes. As networked gadgets proliferate rapidly, this phenomenon is characterized by rapid proliferation. In smart buildings, smart cities, smart grids, and smart homes, interconnected electronic devices are becoming more popular. The objective of this paper is to enhance the functionality of home automation systems through the performance of speech recognition using the Bat-Salp Swarm Optimization (BSSO). This paper investigates the notion of (BSSO), a data analysis methodology that facilitates the automated construction of analytical models. The implementation of BSSO provides an enhancement to the feature selection process in speech recognition, providing an approximation solution that improves the accuracy of system decisions. The use of the BSSO technique improves the precision of the voice recognition system and also incorporates an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) for the classification part. The findings substantiated the efficacy of the employed methodology. © 2024 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

This is an innovative project from an energy-saving perspective. This project ensures that users become in control of their energy consumption and able to take an actively reducing their carbon footprints. It provides users with an interface to input details about household appliances and usage patterns, through which a correct calculation of the carbon footprint could be done. Compared against standard norms, it would help the users identify certain areas where improvement is possible and adopt more sustainable use of energy. Apart from personalized energy assessments, it has now become the central source that connects users to local schemes and initiatives on sustainable energy, including information on resources and programs into waste energy and carbon emission reduction. This integration, therefore, promotes more engagement and involvement within the community as users are nudged to join in the efforts that are being made for the goal of energy conservation. The platform educates its users about energy consumption and aids them in making green choices in data;however, with a holistic approach in carbon footprint management and education pertaining to sustainable long-term behavior, the process takes place through integrated accurate energy tracking, fine recommendations, and community-driven action. © 2025 IEEE.

Modern web services must meet critical non-functional requirements such as availability, responsiveness, scalability, and reliability, which are formalized through Service Level Agreements (SLAs). These agreements specify Service Level Objectives (SLOs), which define performance targets like uptime, latency, and throughput, essential for ensuring consistent service quality. Failure to meet SLOs can result in penalties and reputational damage. Service providers also face the challenge of avoiding over-provisioning resources, as this leads to unnecessary costs and inefficient resource use. To address this, autoscaling mechanisms dynamically adjust the number of service replicas to match user demand. However, traditional autoscaling solutions typically rely on low-level metrics (e.g., CPU or memory usage), making it difficult for providers to optimize both SLOs and infrastructure costs. This paper proposes an enhanced autoscaling methodology for containerized workloads in Kubernetes clusters, integrating SLOs with a cost-driven autoscaling policy. This approach overcomes the limitations of conventional autoscaling by making more efficient decisions that balance service-level requirements with operational costs, offering a comprehensive solution for managing containerized applications and their infrastructure in Kubernetes environments. The results, obtained by evaluating a prototype of our system in a testbed environment, show significant advantages over the vanilla Kubernetes Horizontal Pod Autoscaler. To improve the operational efficiency and reliability of high-speed trains (HSTs), the automatic Train control System has received considerable attention. Train-to-Train (T2T) communication is one of the critical technologies for autonomous train operation. However, the development of T2T communication technology still faces many challenges, particularly regarding communication distance limitations and reliability issues. To address these challenges, this paper introduces an innovative T2T collaborative communication model for HSTs, focusing on highly reliable information interaction and sharing in distributed collaboration environments. The model employs dynamic and static nodes to enable direct T2T information exchange. Using formal verification and state space analysis to ensure the system's reliability and performance. A Build-in-Test (BIT) mechanism is implemented for fault detection and isolation, enhancing the reliability of the system. By analyzing the performance indicators of the system in different scenarios, the reliability of the system was verified. © 2025 IEEE.

Selective assembly is an effective approach for achieving high-precision component assembly by intelligently selecting machined parts without increasing machining costs. To address the optimization challenges in the hole-shaft selective assembly process, this paper introduces a novel optimization method based on JS divergence and Monte Carlo simulation. Specifically, the method evaluates assembly accuracy by calculating the JS divergence value between hole shafts, while Monte Carlo simulation is employed to optimize the batch-wise selection of hole-shaft assemblies. To validate the method's effectiveness, the selective assembly problem of the small end of the connecting rod and the bushing in a marine diesel engine is used as a case study. The results demonstrate that, compared to traditional methods, the proposed optimization method more efficiently identifies the optimal assembly combinations, leading to improved assembly accuracy. © 2025 IEEE.
