The incorporation of Internet of Things (IoT) cloud computing solutions with smart grids signifies a significant advancement in energy management. Traditional methods, though beneficial, often lack scalability and real-time capabilities, limiting their effectiveness in managing the complexity of modern energy systems. In this paper, a novel approach cloud-based IoT technologies to address these shortcomings and enhance smart grid functionalities. Existing energy management methods heavily rely on localized monitoring and control systems, constraining scalability and real-time responsiveness. Additionally, these methods struggle to handle the immense data generated by IoT devices dispersed throughout the grid. The proposed approach tackles these challenges by utilizing cloud computing to store, process, and analyze IoT sensor data in real-time. The novelty of this method lies in seamlessly integrating cloud-based platforms with IoT devices across the smart grid. Through utilising cloud resources, the limitations of traditional approaches are overcome, enabling scalable, real-time oversight and management of grid assets. The methodology involves deploying IoT sensors across the grid to compile information about energy usage, generation, and distribution, which is then transmitted to cloud servers for analysis and decision-making. Through simulations and real-world experiments, the effectiveness of this approach in optimizing grid performance, improving reliability, and facilitating demand-response programs is demonstrated. The results exhibit significant enhancements in grid efficiency and resilience, showcasing the potential of cloud-based IoT solutions to transform energy management in smart grids. Overall, this proposed method presents a promising pathway towards establishing more efficient, sustainable, and resilient energy infrastructure for the future. © 2024 IEEE.

In view of the high risk and difficulty of manual opening and closing operation of the old semi-automatic high-voltage ring network cabinet, combined with the installation environment of the high-voltage ring network cabinet and the actual situation of the opening and closing knob of the ring network cabinet, a portable four degree of freedom mechanical arm for remote control of mobile phone APP is designed. First of all, the mechanical arm design index is formulated for the old semi-automatic high-voltage ring network cabinet operation panel, and the mechanical and control parts of the mechanical arm are designed according to the design index. Secondly, the kinematics equations of the designed 4-DOF manipulator are established by D-H method, and the end position coordinates and joint angles of the manipulator are solved. Then, the three-dimensional modeling of the four degree of freedom manipulator is carried out in the robot toolbox of MATLAB, and the workspace of the manipulator is simulated using Monte Carlo method to obtain the workspace map of the manipulator. Finally, the joint space method is used to plan the trajectory of the manipulator, and the trajectory diagram of the end effector and the curves of angular velocity, angular acceleration and angular displacement varying with time are obtained. The simulation results show that the designed four degree of freedom manipulator meets the remote opening and closing requirements of the old semi-automatic high-voltage ring network cabinet. © 2023 IEEE.

The emergence of DNA strand displacement (DSD) technology has facilitated the development of chaotic synchronization. The active control of the three-variable chaotic oscillation system is designed with DSD technology in this paper. Firstly, DNA strands are designed according to base complementary pairing. The biochemical modules of double, catalysis, subtraction, displacement, and degradation are constructed based on the designed DNA strands. Secondly, the biochemical modules are used to construct the drive system reaction networks and the response system reaction networks with unknown disturbances. Thirdly, an error-compensation active controller is designed based on the DSD technique, which is added to the chaotic oscillation system to achieve synchronous control of the chaotic systems. The biochemical modules and the chaotic systems are carried out and tested by making use of the MATLAB and Visual DSD software. The simulation results show that it is feasible for us to use DSD technology to realize the active control of chaotic oscillation system. This paper may be used to the more complex controlled objective of multivariable chaotic system based on DSD. © 2023 IEEE.

In contemporary production and distribution systems, intelligent energy meters have become a dire necessity to make use of the available renewable energies with availability. This creates future scope in the sectors of developments and improvements for smart cities. A lot of new intelligent energy meters are being installed in homes of people for many reasons mainly that it can furnish numerous enlightening recordings of exhaustion alongside minute clarification of billing. Automated Readings, Data Detersion, Theft Detection and early warnings to make efficient use of energy being consumed. To make full use of the benefits of the intelligence system, major technical issues need to be addressed. Numerous big data analytical machine engines are needed to address areas such as outage control, asset control and fault detection chiefly incase systems that do not identify gas consumption, consumer segmentations and so on. Data Analytic point of view transform large volumes of data into information for customer's, utility, and various authorities. With the availability of numerous analytical algorithms, we will be able to access larger volumes of information but many systems are not able to complete this task sufficiently and efficiently. The advancements and of this intelligent energy meter are also discussed below. Researchers, utility authorities as well as stake holders may make use of the available information. © 2023 IEEE.

Aiming at the deficiency of output displacement hysteresis in the precision control of the Giant-magnetostrictive actuator, the sparrow search algorithm of the positive cosine-Cauchy variation is combined with the PID control. Based on the piezomagnetic equation and the kinetic model of the actuator, the dynamic linear model of the input current and output displacement of the Giant-magnetostrictive actuator was established. The PID optimisation model of the Giant-magnetostrictive actuator is built by combining Matlab and Simulink, and the automatic adjustment of the PID parameters is achieved. The simulation results show that the sparrow search algorithm with positive cosine-Cauchy variation can improve the hysteresis of the output displacement to a larger extent, and improve the control accuracy and robustness of the controller. © 2023 IEEE.

Traffic congestion has emerged as a significant issue for road users, particularly in densely populated urban areas. Many individuals endure extended travel times while moving from one location to another, a direct result of the excessive traffic volume caused by ineffective traffic light control. Consequently, we propose the implementation of an automated traffic light control (TLC) system using Artificial Intelligence (AI) principles to manage two interconnected intersections within this case study. This framework is designed based on Multi-Agent Reinforcement Learning (MARL) with the Q-Learning (QL) algorithm, enabling the TLC system to assign appropriate green signal timing to each junction at both intersections. The primary objective is to alleviate traffic congestion at these intersections by minimizing vehicle wait times at red signals. The traffic model we have developed is implemented and simulated using the MATLAB simulator. We evaluate the system's performance using three distinct configurations with varying learning rates and record the results. The outcomes of our proposed model, presented using the designed methodology, effectively reduce weighted wait times and vehicle queue lengths through the QL algorithm. © 2023 IEEE.

To seek the best traffic management and control method to alleviate traffic congestion under sudden traffic accidents on highways, the paper proposed a method for toll station entrance control aimed at accident bottlenecks. Firstly, an modified METANET model was used to predict traffic density and flow of highway network. Taking the storage space of ramp and toll plaza, the traffic capacity of road section as constraints, and aiming to minimize the travel time on the main line and the waiting time at toll station, an optimal control rate model for toll station entrance was established. The particle swarm optimization algorithm (PSOA) was used to solve the optimal control rate at the toll station entrance, which was substituted into the established toll station channel control model to obtain the control scheme for each toll station channel. Finally, the VISSIM simulation software was applied for secondary development, and case simulations were conducted to verify the proposed method can reduce vehicle delays and congestion duration time. After accident cleaning, the vehicles could quickly dissipate, which reached a ideal effect. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

In this paper, we present a LoRa-based monitoring system implementing LoRa with simple MAC (medium access control) architecture as a lightweight alternative to more complex LoRaWAN systems for agricultural applications. Our developed system consists of several low-cost and low-power remote sensor nodes with LoRa transceivers in a star topology with a custom-built. NET data-logging and control application acting as the central node. Despite using LoRa without LoRaWAN, we were able to demonstrate the reliable collection of remote sensor data and control of remote nodes through field trials of the novel system conducted on a working cattle farm. © 2023 IEEE.

Simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) is crucial for intelligent mobile robots to move autonomously in unknown environments. However, many current visual SLAM systems heavily rely on static scene assumptions, which severely limit their applicability in dynamic environments. Additionally, many SLAM systems based on semantic segmentation are unable to operate in real time, rendering them impractical for robotic applications. In this paper, we propose a real-time semantic RGB-D visualization SLAM system within the ORB-SLAM3 framework. Firstly, we add two modules, a real-time semantic information acquisition module and a fast dynamic feature point removal module that integrates semantic information and depth information. Subsequently, the dynamic feature point removal module is incorporated into the tracking thread of ORB-SLAM3. We conduct experimental evaluations on the TUM dataset and real environments. The results demonstrate that our algorithm is one of the most accurate robust and real-time systems in dynamic scenes. © 2023 IEEE.

Intelligent transportation systems (ITS) have gained significant traction since the 1980s and 1990s, driven by technological advancements and increasing urbanization, which have caused intense transportation challenges. Drone systems, with their superior imaging capabilities, offer critical solutions for swift traffic surveillance, surpassing traditional monitoring systems. In this context, object recognition is crucial, and the YOLO algorithm stands out for its speed and efficiency. This study conducts a detailed performance evaluation of the YOLOv9 and YOLOv10 networks for motor vehicle classification through aerial images captured by drone platforms. Datasets were created from these UAV-based traffic images, and the performances of both algorithms were measured and compared. The results were analyzed to highlight YOLOv9 and YOLOv10's strengths and drawbacks. Additionally, the study discusses qualitative aspects, including advantages, disadvantages, and potential improvements for both algorithms in aerial traffic monitoring.
