The solid waste management is the process of proper decomposition of waste materials within a period of time. This includes the collection of garbage's and then proceeded through certain measures for decomposition. There are various methods adopted in the garbage separation process. This includes the artificial intelligence techniques for the estimation and determination of the solid waste through automatic detection and separation of the garbage waste using control and sensing units. They are integrated with the internet of things to enable the two way communication system. This helps to visualize the functioning of the system adopting the digital platform. The proposed system is implemented through the smart dust bin held in every household that automatically senses the non-biodegradable and biodegradable waste materials. The classification of the waste materials are identified through the image processing techniques. © 2023 IEEE.

Visual impairment is a congenital or developed condition, sometimes it tends to affect from childhood to old age, it can be permanent or treated with a previous diagnosis, sometimes it is corrected with special lenses, and in other cases, expensive surgeries are required. Studies have shown a decrease in physical activity, an increase in sedentary lifestyles, and the probability of developing diseases such as obesity and overweight as a result. The World Health Organization recommends physical activity to maintain good health for people with this condition. This work presents the development of a system for correcting the orientation of visually impaired people while practicing walking as a physical activity, using image processing and implementing computer vision. The system provides feedback to the user with vibrations and sounds to correct its trajectory, using existing technologies and algorithms such as the Hough Transform. To prove its performance, the system was tested on people in simulated blindness conditions on athletic tracks. The subjects walked 100 meters in a straight line using the device. The results show that the device can keep the user walking in a straight line and correct directional changes to avoid leaving the lanes of an athletic track.

Software-Defined Networking (SDN) is gaining attention for its flexibility in programmability. It enhances network configuration and provides global visibility for administrators via a single interface. However, the centralized nature of SDN exposes many issues in scalability and resiliency. In this paper, with the advent of cloud computing, we present a containerized architecture capable of fast scaling up and down based on traffic load for SDN control plane. With our novel traffic-adaptive algorithm, the results show that the proposed system is able to fit performance with high incoming new-flow requests and scale down underused controllers for resource efficiency. © 2023 IEEE.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a progressive neurological disorder that affects the physical and mental health of millions of people. Thus, the early detection of PD is significantly essential for timely intervention. In this paper, we propose a simple yet influential deep learning framework, named a Hybrid CNN-Transformer, for the automatic recognition of PD patients using MRI scans. In particular, the model architecture integrates the merits of CNN with the Transformer for feature extraction in different feature dimensions. The Transformer in the model also captures the long-range dependences, which enables the model to handle both local and global statements effectively. Our proposed method is evaluated on the Parkinson's Progression Markers Initiative (PPMI) dataset. Based on experimental results, our model performs better with a test accuracy of 80.51 %, precision of 80.49%, recall of 79.89%, F1-score of 0.80, and AUC-ROC of 0.84 compared with traditional CNN models such as VGG16 and DenseNet121. © 2024 IEEE.

In response to the challenges posed by missed electricity bill payments and unauthorized power consumption, this study introduces enhancements to existing smart energy meter systems. The proposed improvements include the integration of advanced security features and automation capabilities, such as refined theft control mechanisms and optimized communication protocols between energy providers and consumers. Leveraging IoT technology, the system enables real-time energy monitoring, automatic billing, and timely payment reminders via SMS. Additionally, innovative theft prevention measures, including automated power disconnection for overdue accounts and theft detection systems, bolster security and reduce losses. The integration of the Convolutive Recurrent Fusion Network (CRFN) algorithm significantly enhances the system's theft detection and prevention capabilities. The CRFN detects anomalies in power consumption that may indicate theft, such as sudden spikes or drops in usage, through advanced pattern recognition. Upon detecting potential theft, the system can trigger automated responses like alerts or power disconnection, reducing the need for manual intervention. The incorporation of a magnetic reed switch further enhances efficiency by automatically controlling power access for consumers who have not paid their bills by the due date. By addressing these challenges and integrating advancements, the proposed framework aims to create a more efficient, secure, and sustainable energy management solution, ensuring accurate billing, preventing unauthorized usage, and promoting environmental responsibility. © 2024 IEEE.

In order to solve the problem that suspension insulator in substation cannot effectively implement zero value detection, a terminal tool for suspension insulator resistance detection robot based on wireless remote control is designed and researched, which realizes the autonomous walking of the tool on insulator string in substation and the measurement of insulator resistance. The mechanical design, electrical system design, and experimental studies of the terminal tool for insulator resistance detection robots are presented emphatically. The goal of the article is the design of a Mayfly Optimization-PID controller (MO-PIDC) to inject an ideal dose of insulin via AP for control of BG level in the Type-I Diabetes Mellitus (TIDM) patients. This classical controller with optimization technique is seen to improve performance and to make the system robust. Robustness is to be improved by considering control parameter as a function of error. This is utilized in the proposed novel control technique. The nonlinearities present in TIDM patient framework cause BG control issues. The use of AP based Mayfly optimization algorithm efficiently to maintain BG level in the range of normo-glycemia. This proposed patient model with MO-PIDC is analyzed for improved accuracy and stability, enhanced robustness, noise suppression, and better ability to handle uncertainties. © 2022 IEEE.

High-accuracy mechatronic systems require a con-trol algorithm to realize trajectories or positions. On the other hand, the acquisition of data and embedded system design configurable is a very important part to guarantees processing in hardware, high performance, reception, and send of data that generally is defined by the applications to which it is intended. Therefore, the increasing demands in the improvement of the accuracy systems based on modern programable devices are being applied in the scientific and engineering areas. This paper presents a novel mechatronic approach to experimental validation of a feed drive system with ball screw. The description of an original FPGA-based configurable design is introduced which consists of an own design approaches of hardware architecture. Finally, based on a built prototype of a feed drive system with ball screw, the PID controller implemented and the mathematical model, in both cases, were applied in order to establish the comparison between the responses, seeking to observe if the experimental results show a great difference with respect to the simulation data. A cost-effective solution using a single chip low-cost FPGA for feed-drive system is presented to the closed-loop control present approximately the same response as that of the system model used in the simulation. Experimental results demonstrate an excellent positioning control and processing performance of the data configured on the FPGA Firmware, which validates the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposal.

Transcribing electric guitar solo in real-world performance is challenging because of the interference of background accompaniments, the strong coupling between music pitch and playing technique, and the limited resource of data annotation. To address these issues, we first propose a new guitar solo dataset for this task. Then, we propose a transcription model which learns an output space jointly constructed with notes, playing techniques, and two sets of meta-class labels named note states and technique groups, such that the model can harness the layered relationship among different note-level event and playing technique classes. The proposed model outperforms the state-of-the-art guitar solo transcription and note transcription models. © 2023 IEEE.

This work presents the study of the light emission and conduction mechanisms of PIN diodes using an amorphous silicon-carbide (a-Si1-xCx:H) thin film as active layer. The PIN structures were fabricated by the PECVD technique onto P-type silicon wafers at a substrate temperature of 200 °C. Two different active layers deposited with the CH4/SiH4 flow rates of 30 sccm/ 6sccm and 30 sccm/1 sccm were used. Both structures display red-orange electroluminescence only in forward bias. The structure deposited with a lower silicon content shows a shorter wavelength emission with a higher intensity at a lower voltage bias. From the current-voltage measurements the dominant charge transport mechanisms were proposed. On the one hand, the Fowler-Nordheim tunneling was related to the highest silicon content structure due to a lower barrier height, and on the other hand, the trap-assisted tunneling was associated with the lowest silicon content related to a higher density of defects in localized tail states.
