Silage equipment can crush crops into small materials, which can be used as feed for livestock farms to achieve efficient and reasonable utilization of resources. In this paper, based on the completion of the overall scheme design of a modular backpack silage equipment, the integration of crop crushing, bundling and coating is realized. At the same time, a control system suitable for the silage equipment based on programmable logic controller (PLC) and touch screen is developed to improve the working efficiency of the equipment. In the production experiment, the technical parameters of the prototype and the indicators of the product meet the design objectives. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

In medical practice, the precision of image segmentation is crucial for diagnosis and treatment evaluations. Specifically, in dentistry, accurate teeth segmentation from bite-wing images is important for automatic and objective evaluations of root canal treatments. This study introduces Swin-U2 Net, a model merging the nested dual UNet with residual U-block and Swin Transformers. It combines the local feature extraction capability of the former and the global attention and context understanding of the latter. It has been evaluated for tooth root segmentation using 500 bite-wing dental x-ray images obtained from a root canal treatment clinic. It achieved the best segmentation outcome in terms of Intersection over Union (IOU) and the third best result in terms of Dice Similarity Coefficient (DSC) with the second least amount of network parameters among six UNet-like models, thus it is effective and efficient. © 2024 IEEE.

In real systems, one of the most vital criteria that assess the efficiency of a nonlinear controller is the transient response. Therefore, a new tuning technique is suggested for the composite nonlinear feedback (CNF) control in this study. In other words, the proposed tuning algorithm optimizes the CNF controller in the case of settling time and overshoot. A linear part and a nonlinear part constitute the CNF control law. On the one hand, the linear portion provides the closed-loop feedback with a quick response and significant overshoot while remaining within the actuator limits during the regulation. The linear feedback law is achieved based on a linear matrix inequality (LMI) minimization problem. On the other hand, the nonlinear feedback law raises the damping ratio in order to remove the overshoot. A novel tuning strategy is developed to enhance transient performance. This online method adjusts parameters automatically rather than trial error and non-automatic approaches. To assess the efficacy of the novel tuning approach, a continuously stirred tank reactor (CSTR) is simulated via MATLAB. The outcomes show that transient performance is enhanced by more than 44% employing the suggested tuning approach. © 2022 IEEE.

This paper deals with the interfacing of open-source PLC (Programmable Logic controller) with augmented reality. The goal is to create an interactive environment for monitoring and control of automation processes. Creating new types of human-machine interfaces (HMIs) is one of the challenges of the Industry 4.0 concept and also relates to the Industry 5.0, which is the coming revolution to be human-centric. The practical part of the project focuses on the implementation of interfacing between PLC and augmented reality using OPC UA (Open Platform Communications Unified Architecture) and MQTT (MQ Telemetry Transport) interfaces. The work results in creation of working prototype that uses 3D engine Unity and ARCore library to create an interactive augmented reality environment. © 2023 IEEE.

Today, solar street lights are widely used. The appearance of solar street lights not only provides light at night, but also saves energy. For the heavy-duty handling and assembly of cable ducts, a six-degree-of-freedom hydraulic heavy-duty manipulator is designed. Firstly, the basic working conditions of the hydraulic heavy-duty manipulator were analyzed, the design requirements of the power system of the hydraulic heavy-duty manipulator were determined, the three-dimensional model of the hydraulic heavy-duty manipulator was established by using SolidWorks, and the design scheme of the gripper was briefly expounded. The torque of each joint is calculated by the load of the clamping part of the jaw, and the relevant parts are determined, and the model of the power element that drives each joint is determined. Additionally, the parameters of hydraulic pump are calculated and analyzed in this paper. The dynamic performance index of the manipulator was determined through the analysis of each cylinder, and a theoretical basis was provided for the subsequent control system design. All analyses indicate that the proposed hydraulic heavy-duty robotic arm is effective and feasible. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

This work discusses the nonlinear modeling of healthy and cancer cell population growth under the influence of radiotherapy, and proposes predictive control techniques to determine the optimal dose for tumor control, while sparing surrounding healthy tissue. Radiation effects are modelled by a linear-quadratic formalism, coupled with a novel population-specific delayed dose response. Numerical simulations of the open- and closed-loop system are conducted, and robustness against model uncertainty is studied. Results illustrate the controller’s performance when dealing with imperfect information and unexpected system behavior, and how it can be tuned to produce the desired treatment outcome. However, optimal operation is conditioned by a limited prediction horizon, as well as strict adherence to treatment schedules and dose restrictions. © IFIP international Federation for Information Processing 2024.

Early detection and treatment of diabetic retinopathy can delay blindness and improve quality of life for diabetic patients. It is difficult to detect early symptoms of diabetic retinopathy, which is presented by few microaneurysms in fundus images. This study proposes an algorithm to detect microaneurysms in fundus images automatically. The proposal includes microaneurysms segmentation by U-Net model and their false positives removal by ResNet model. The effectiveness of the proposal is evaluated with the public database IDRiD and E-ophtha by the Area Under Precision Recall curve (AUPR). 90% of microaneurysms can be detected at early stages of diabetic retinopathy. This proposal outperforms previous methods based in AUPR evaluation. © 2022 IEEE.

Large organizations including big IT firms and military organizations are interconnected through a large cyber network and these organizations are prone to highly sophisticated forms of cyber-attacks like Advanced Persistent Threats. Advanced Persistent Threats are highly sophisticated and formidable form of attacks that are characterized by their stealthy, prolonged, and meticulously planned operations. This paper explores the nature of Advanced Persistent Threats and talks about the stages of its lifecycle and the mitigation strategies. It examines the different stages of APTs beginning from reconnaissance to setting up a command-and-control centre and exfiltrating the data without getting detected. Further, based on the existing studies, various existing APT attack detection techniques are identified. In response to the challenges, a framework is proposed for detection of APT attacks. Furthermore, this paper also discussed the countermeasure methodologies such as pattern-based detection, the cyber kill chain framework, and artificial intelligence-based approaches to underscore the importance of proactive and multilayered defence mechanisms. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

This paper presents a CMOS automatic gain control (AGC) readout circuit for Micro Electro-Mechanical System (MEMS) resonant pressure sensor. The oscillation conditions for MEMS loop and the accompanying parasitic loops are analyzed in this paper. The parasitic capacitance between the driving and sensing electrodes of the sensor will lead to the electrical oscillation and prevent electrical-mechanical oscillation. The conditions of loop gain that need to be met to solve the above negative effects are discussed. A low noise Trans-Impedance Amplifier (TIA) is proposed to improve system noise performance. Fully differential structure is adopted in the circuit to reduce common-mode interference. The circuit achieves an equivalent input current noise of 0.41 pA/√Hz@100kHz, consumed 4.3mA current under a 5-V supply voltage. © 2023 IEEE.
