In order to ensure the Power System’s effectiveness every part requires a certain amount of control activities. In any interconnected power system, variation in load occurs, frequency variation and exchange of power of tie line show a significant difference, and to achieve the goal of zero variation in the frequency of power system as well as power flow of the tie -line, to attain the selected generating units there is use of some supporting controller/controlling action. The term "automatic generation control" refers to this control activity. The primary motive of LFC or automated generation control in a multi-area electrical system is to make frequency of every area as well as power flow of tie line constant. In this research paper, where two area power system with controllers like Integrator, PI and PID is used. After applying this three -control technique, it displays a comparison between the frequency deviation as well as change in the power flow of tie line of the AGC of two-area system by taking random controller value. AGC of two area electrical power system using controllers like Integrator, PI and PID in MATLAB/SIMULINK software is discussed. When automatic generation control used properly, is essential for maintaining the frequency within acceptable bounds and adapting to changes in the power load. The most precise and reliable controller is a PID controller that controls process variables using a control loop feedback mechanism. This paper compares the stability of the system by using controller like Integrator, PI, PID by hit and trial method on different load.

The smart power grid is a critical infrastructure that has been targeted recently by several cyber-attacks. Hence, it is important that advancements are made in intrusion detection systems (IDSs). Recently, promising results have been reported using deep machine learning techniques to develop effective IDSs. However, the existing studies suffer from the following limitations: (a) The adoption of either only physical features (power system measurements) or only cyber features (network logs) in the development of IDSs; (b) The adoption of deep learning techniques that operate on 2D data, while power system measurements are graph-structure data. In this paper, we address these limitations and propose an effective IDS against false data injection and ransomware attacks. Our proposed IDS improves the attack detection performance by (a) fusing cyber-physical features collected from a practical testbed and (b) adopting a topology-aware model based on a graph neural network (GNN) to exploit the spatial and temporal correlation within the data. Our experimental results demonstrate the superior performance of our IDS compared with benchmarks that are based on topology-unaware models and use solely cyber or physical data.

Switching power supply with higher efficiency and reliability is more and more applied in the design of digital instrument control system of nuclear power station. The design scheme of using a single power supply will cause a high power density for a single power module to process, and the power module will also face a large electrical stress during operation. The technical scheme of expanding single power supply brings more difficulties to the selection of power components, the improvement of switching frequency and power density of power module. At the same time, if a single power supply fails, the entire system may crash. Therefore, the research on the capacity expansion and redundancy technology using multiple small-capacity switching power supplies is becoming more and more extensive. This paper mainly focuses on the typical application of switching power supply distribution circuit in digital instrument control system engineering, and analyzes and describes the design of power supply expansion and reliability of power supply redundancy. At the same time, combined with the test analysis, the influence of the current distribution and current uneven problem of power module generated by this design on the reliability of distribution circuit is analyzed, and the subsequent improvement suggestions are put forward. The views presented in this paper are of guiding significance to the design of the switching power distribution system and the operation and maintenance of the switching power supply system of the subsequent control system of nuclear power plant, and can improve the stable operation of the control system of nuclear power plant in the long run.

In the process of annual vehicle inspection, strict inspection of vehicle light failure is of great significance to ensuring road traffic safety. Aiming at the problems of uneven lighting conditions in vehicle inspection tasks, different sizes of lights, and difficulty in detection, a vehicle light detection algorithm based on the improved CenterNet algorithm is proposed. The algorithm uses the ResNet18 network as the backbone network, uses DilatedEncoder expansion encoder and feature fusion enhancement module to strengthen the algorithm’s learning and processing capabilities for different scales of car light feature information;adds GIoU loss and distance deviation loss to constrain the position of the prediction center point and adjustment the size of the prediction box. The experimental results show that compared with the original algorithm, the improved algorithm increases 4.2% in the self-built Vehicle inspection vehicle light detection dataset, and 1.8% in the target detection COCO dataset. The improved algorithm has good accuracy and real-time performance for vehicle light detection, and basically meets the actual needs of motor vehicle detection stations. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

This paper introduces the exponential stabilization issue of coupled delayed ODE-PDE systems with packet losses. By using a Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional (LKF), a control scheme respected packet losses is developed by space-dependent linear matrix inequalities (SDLMIs) to guarantee the mean square exponential stability (MSES) for the closed-loop coupled delayed ODE-PDE system. Finally, the control approach is proved effective by taking a hypersonic rocket car (HRC) as an example.

The automatic detection and analysis of ommatidia, the fundamental visual units of insect compound eyes, is vital for advancing biological research and understanding insect vision. Compound eyes, with their multi-lens structure, provide a broad field of view and high visual resolution. Researchers typically obtain ommatidia structures through CT imaging of insect compound eyes. However, processing these high-resolution 3D images requires significant computational resources due to the complexity and scale of the data. Existing methods struggle with inefficiency and poor robustness, particularly when dealing with large and complex datasets. To overcome these challenges, we introduce a groundbreaking framework, P-ODA, for fast and robust ommatidia detection by integrating parallel computing into the CT image analysis insect compound eyes. By harnessing the power of both Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) with Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA) and multicore Central Processing Units (CPUs), we present a novel approach to enhance the Ommatidia Detection Algorithm (ODA). Our method efficiently processes large-scale datasets and demonstrates unprecedented scalability. We offer two independent implementations: one utilizing CUDA for GPU acceleration, and another leveraging Python's multicore CPU capabilities. Experimental results show that P-ODA dramatically improves execution time and scalability over traditional ODA methods. Moreover, the system is designed for ease of use with a Linux graphical interface. This innovative framework sets the stage for the next generation of biological dataset processing and hybrid parallel computing systems.

There has been a growing concern regarding the security of industrial network protocols in Supervisory control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. These protocols are vulnerable to a plethora of security threats, including man-in-the-middle attacks, denial-of-service attacks, malformed packets, and other forms of abuse that exploit the vulnerabilities in protocol specifications. One of the widely used protocols is the Distributed Network Protocol 3 (DNP3), making it a crucial target for security enhancement efforts. In this paper, we explore programmable networks for security enhancement of SCADA systems, in particular, P4 switches that can be programmed to perform specified operations at the data plane level. We identify security needs and gaps in existing cyberattacks on DNP3-based SCADA systems and then explore various techniques on the P4 switches, such as packet header and payload inspection, filtering, hashing, and encryption, to combat security threats specific to the DNP3 protocol. We demonstrate that using programmable switches to improve DNP3 security can effectively detect, mitigate, and prevent various forms of attacks with three case studies that are specific to DNP3-based SCADA systems, including Length Overflow Attack (malformed packet), Event Buffer Flooding Attack (denial-of-service), and Config Corrupt Attack (man-in-the-middle attack).

In Ethiopia, imported and locally manufactured electric stoves are used for cooking and baking food. An imported electric stove consumes less electric power, whereas locally manufactured electric stoves are the most energyconsuming appliances in the household. In both cases, electric power is dissipated in the form of heat through the resistor even though the power indicator is in the closed position in an imported electric stove because current flowing through the resistor is maintained. Due to this problem, an automatic heat control mechanism is designed in order to reduce unwanted excess heat loss. In addition to this, it solves different problems in society, such as reducing time, material consumption, resource waste, and human power. The required data for the project was gathered from the published papers, EEU, and from local communities through an oral interview about the cost and electric consumption of imported and locally manufactured electric stoves. The market's supply of temperature controllers, resistors, and contactors, as well as their attributes, were evaluated. One customer's annual savings in electric energy use was 1,805.983 KWh on average. An automatic heat management system allows society to conserve energy. The University of Gondar, Institute of Technology, created and manufactured the electric stove with an automated heat management system. This electric stove will be moved to the student café on the UoG Fasil campus.

The structure of the rocket-borne model is inherently complex, with processed images exhibiting high resolution and generating substantial amounts of data and calculations. Achieving robust real-time computing on an embedded platform poses significant challenges due to strictly limited resources, power consumption constraints, and size limitations. Our review of rocket-borne applications reveals considerable variability in the design resources of different devices, indicating a need for expanded design approaches. Upon evaluating existing methods, we identified two primary drawbacks. First, certain operators within the high-resolution target detection model are difficult to parallelize, resulting in significant inference delays that hinder the ability to meet task requirements. Although existing methods have been extended, there remains significant potential for performance enhancement in core scheduling for poor acceleration. This paper proposes an optimized architecture for the target detection algorithm accelerator designed for high-resolution images, along with a novel highly parallel data pre-processing and post-processing module implemented on FPGA to address these issues. Compared to the ARM implementation, this architecture demonstrates an improved performance of 24.64x. Furthermore, to ensure flexible application across various rocket launch scenarios, we introduce an optimization structure for convolution, pooling, and fusion operators and a multi-core expansion optimization method. This approach yields a 1.29x improvement in computing unit utilization compared to state-of-the-art multi-core scaling efforts. Finally, we assessed the accelerator architecture across multiple FPGA platforms, achieving a peak processing element utilization rate of 99.71% for a single core and layer. This paper proposes the rotor speed control of oscillating water column (OWC) wave energy conversion system to achieve the maximum power point tracking (MPPT). The proportional-integral-derivative (PID) control scheme is used to vary the rotor speed. Next, the tuning of PID controller is performed using the following optimization techniques: nonlinear programming and metaheuristic approaches such as simulated annealing (SA), genetic algorithm (GA), and particle swarm optimization (PSO). An integral time absolute error (ITAE) form of fitness function has been selected for obtaining the PID parameters. Then, a comparative study is performed to analyze the efficacy of PID controlled OWC with different optimization approaches. Numerical simulations have been performed for obtaining the OWC time response of rotor speed with different optimization methods. Finally, the advantage of the use of metaheuristic optimization techniques for tuning PID controller has been discussed using simulation results.
