In today's fast-paced environment, industrial monitoring is essential because everyone expects to obtain a scalable outcome. Presently days, monitoring and controlling industrial parameters like temperature, humidity, gas, and so forth takes more manual labor. This is the industrial sectors' most pressing concern right now. A dangerous condition results from improper parameter monitoring and control. Due to human error, the majority of industries are currently experiencing this. The industrial monitoring and Internet of Things (IoT) module is used to reduce manual errors. In general, there are various ways available today to do this. Using GSM, this article demonstrates how a person may monitor and control industrial equipment. Regularly transmitting precise and trustworthy measurements is essential for monitoring large-scale businesses and nuclear power plants. Sensors are used to measure temperature, pressure, gas, and other variables, such as the need for accuracy. These sensor readings must be updated in real-time. A microcontroller is connected to sensors in this system. ZIGBEE wireless technology is used for data transmission, and WAN is used if necessary to connect to the Internet. To determine the threshold value, all measured values are compared against when a discrepancy occurs, and staff will be notified so they may take remedial as a novel strategy. Microcontrollers are used in nuclear power plants and large-scale enterprises to prevent severe disasters.

This method introduces a system and methodology for detecting the maturity of cancer cells based on infrared spectroscopy technology. The detection system is composed of a chamber, an infrared light source, an infrared spectroscopy sensor, a fixed bracket, and a displacement platform designed for the placement of cancer cell culture plates. The central part of the displacement platform features a through-hole facilitating spectral transmission and precise alignment of cancer cell samples. The infrared spectroscopy sensor, positioned beneath the displacement platform and in alignment with the infrared light source, is linked to an embedded control module. This module transforms collected light signals into electrical signals, which are then fed into the embedded system. Following the preprocessing of acquired spectral data, the data undergoes training and prediction through a 1D-CNN deep learning model. The ultimate output includes the classification and maturity level of cancer cells. This system effectively tackles the real-time quantification challenge present in current cancer cell examinations. Its functionalities encompass automatic positioning, maintenance of the cultivation environment, detection and identification of the mature stage of cancer cell cultivation, monitoring the differentiation of cancer cells, and quantification of growth progress.

Due to the increasing air pollution and its harm to the environment caused by industrial activities, daily life and people’s health are threatened seriously. The air cleaner is used to purify air at home. With increasing awareness of environmental problems, people pay attention to the prevention and treatment of air pollution in large-scale indoor areas such as shopping malls, department stores, hospitals, and factories, However, there are few large-sized air cleaners, and they are only used to purify air not monitoring and controlling the parameters of environmental pollution. We proposed an intelligent sensing control technology for air cleaners that can be used in a large area. By detecting the air quality using an NH 3 sensor, H 2 S sensor, and total volatile organic compounds (TVOC) sensor, the proposed air cleaner was used to increase the air delivery rate by controlling the speed motor with an inverter. In large indoor areas, a dual-port multi-wing blower motor was used to increase the air exchange capacity of the air cleaner. A touch screen was employed to allow for the intuitive controls of the air cleaner. Three control modes such as automatic, manual, and timer modes were provided according to the user's needs. Experiment results showed that the proposed air cleaner effectively filtered dust and removed chemical gases, odors, bacteria, and other pollutants, which led to preventing indoor air pollution.

In Ivanovo State Power engineering University (ISPEU, Ivanovo, Russia) digital instrument current and voltage transformers (DCVTs) has developed. Numerous studies and tests of DCVTs have been carried out; these devices already have operating experience in existing electrical facilities. However, some areas of application of DCVTs require additional research. The article presents a methodology for experimental study of 6(10) kV DCVTs under conditions of arc intermittent single-phase ground faults, a diagram of a test installation, as well as the results of testing the methodology. The article presents the quantitative characteristics of the modes obtained in laboratory conditions. The modes of arc intermittent single-phase ground faults and ferroresonance were simulated using electromagnetic measuring voltage transformers in the installation. However, during the experiments, some shortcomings in the methodology of the experiment were revealed. The article also indicates measures to improve the methodology for conducting further experimental studies of DCVTs.

One major hurdle for the deployment of autonomous vehicles in rural environments is achieving accurate localization in areas with tree-canopied roads or outdated point cloud maps. The presence of limited visibility and high variability renders standalone sensor localization unreliable in such situations. To tackle these issues, this paper presents a sensor fusion-based localization framework that integrates data from GNSS, LiDAR, INS, and vehicle odometry. The proposed approach uses a loosely-coupled Extended Kalman Filter for sensor fusion and a weighted gate approach for accurate state estimations. Compared to a state-of-the-art technique, the proposed method achieves a reduction of around 71% in maximum lateral deviations. This method successfully enables a safe and reliable localization in challenging scenarios that are frequently found in the rural and inter-urban sectors.

To address power shortages in third-world countries, other energy sources such as uninterrupted power supplies that charge batteries while line voltage is available are employed. Inverters on the market contain output voltage waveforms that do not provide pure sine waves, and these modified sine waves are non-linear and high-frequency components that impair connected appliances such as fan dimmers. With the rising smart home and IoT industries in mind, this article presents a revised fan dimmer that does not generate humming noises, is resilient, and can be connected to the internet via WiFi using the ESP8266 board. This allows the user to control the speed of the fan from a smartphone via voice command or user-interface © 2021 IEEE.

Many intelligent methods have been proposed and applied in the field of autonomous manufacturing inspection. These advanced algorithms with high requirements on computing power and network may lead to time delay, high cost and energy consumption in practical applications with massive data to be processed. We carry out an efficient defect detection system in an end-edge-cloud architecture with the concept of edge computing to process the big data quickly and effectively. A branchy deep learning model with early exit capability of inference is proposed to detect the category and location of the defect in printed circuit boards. We offload part of the computing tasks to the edge nodes by segmenting and deploying the DL model. Therefore, our system has high detection efficiency and makes real-time defect detection possible. © 2021 IEEE.

The field of “Internet of Things” (IoT) technology is exploding because of the quick advancements in automation technologies, embedded systems, and networking. It has become an integral part of Home Automation which is the combination of sensor networks, cloud computing, monitoring, and control. This paper discusses networking and provides two distinct methods for managing network-connected appliances as well as two different strategies for controlling the connected appliances and devices resulting in the enhancement of the system's robustness and overall stability. LoRa and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi technology have been used for the networking architecture of the appliances. Direct load control and phase angle-based voltage control methods are designed and developed for controlling the connected appliances. The distinct wireless technologies increase the stability of data transmission while ensuring minimum power consumption. AC voltage control methodology followed in this research also improves the robustness of the control systems. A mobile application platform is also developed and presented in this paper which is used to monitor and control the appliances, also known as sensor nodes.

For electric vehicles (EVs) equipped with hybrid energy storage systems (HESS), a challenge is reasonably distributing and optimizing load power. To optimize the performances of the vehicle power and battery capacity, This paper introduces an innovative data-driven Energy Management Strategy (EMS) designed for HESS, which combines a hierarchical strategy of fuzzy neural network (FNN) and data-enabled predictive control (DeePC). At the driving level, FNN predicts load power demand by collecting historical speed and acceleration information along with current data. At the energy management level, the EMS adopts a novel data-enabled model, which collects the load power predicted by an upper layer. The DeePC achieves power distribution by controlling the supercapacitor current while maintaining the state of charge (SoC) within the expected range. The simulation results verify the effectiveness of the developed EMS. Compared with long-short term memory (LSTM), artificial neural network (ANN), and support vector regression (SVR), FNN demonstrates the best-fitting performance, while the prediction results are closer to the actual load power. Compared with model predictive control (MPC), the proposed DeePC approximately reduces battery capacity loss by 0.15% and demonstrates well control performance.

PID controllers are vital in the control for many systems such as suspension systems, automatic Voltage Regulators (AVR), Self-Stabilizing Systems as well as DC motor speed control. Proper tuning of the PID controller will ensure desired performance is achieved with any application. In this study, the proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller will be tuned with several methods, including heuristic methods such as Trial and Error (TE), Ziegler Nichols (ZN) as well as Evolutionary Algorithms such as the Genetic Algorithm (GA) and the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) for DC Motor speed control. This paper will first determine the most optimized form of the Evolutionary Algorithms such as GA and PSO by determining the optimized parameters for both algorithms. Comparison between all tuning techniques will then be conducted. The performance between each method will be quantified by analyzing the transient response parameters such as Overshoot, Settling Time, Rising Time, and Steady State Error. From the simulations, the Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) are superior compared to the Trial and Error (TE) and the Ziegler Nichols method (ZN). However, the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) performed better in optimizing the PID constants at a faster rate compared to Genetic Algorithm (GA). © 2021 IEEE.
