In this paper, we enhance a distributed version of the well known k-means algorithm with privacy-preservation features. While ensuring that sensitive or confidential information remains undisclosed to unauthorized entities (in our case these entities are curious nodes within the network), we maintain the desirable features of the distributed algorithm: the transmitted values are quantized, which optimizes bandwidth utilization and alleviates communication bottlenecks, and nodes possess the ability to collectively determine when to terminate the algorithm, which enables the conservation of valuable resources. We introduce a novel privacy-preserving protocol that not only preserves the privacy of a node's state, but it also ensures confidentiality about its cluster affiliation (i.e., it does not reveal to curious nodes whether a node participates in the update calculation for a specific centroid value). Moreover, we precisely characterize topological conditions that guarantee privacy preservation for individual nodes. Our distributed algorithm allows the formation of exclusive clusters within a finite time frame on any static and strongly connected directed graph. © 2023 IEEE.

In the practical application of electromagnetic transient real-time simulation computing platform, due to the large amount of calculation and long calculation time of electromagnetic transient simulation calculation, in order to improve the calculation speed and accuracy, it is usually necessary to use multiple CPU cores for parallel calculation at the same time, and ensure that each task synchronization and coordination among the computing cores. So, it is of great significance to select an appropriate task synchronization method for the realization of the electromagnetic transient real-time simulation computing platform. The paper puts forward a kind of based on TSC (Time Stamp Counter) Time Stamp Counter polling Time slot task synchronization method, this method supports high precision Time synchronization and coordination between different tasks, and can adapt to the transmission and efficient processing of large amounts of data. The test results prove that this method can avoid the overhead and delay of a large number of interrupts and thread switching, improve the efficiency, stability and predictability of task execution, and meet the performance requirements of the task synchronization method based on the centralized tightly coupled electromagnetic transient real-time simulation prototype. © 2024 SPIE.

This article presents the tuning of a Modified Model Reference Adaptive controller (MMRAC) through the Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm (PSO). The MMRAC is applied to the velocity control of a DC motor and its main idea is to add damping to eliminate the oscillations in its transitory response. In order to tune the parameters of the MMRAC, the PSO algorithm takes into account the restrictions encountered in the Lyapunov stability analysis to establish the set of feasible solutions. A key feature of the proposed tuning method is that the fitness function employed in the PSO algorithm uses an upper bound of the Lyapunov function time derivative to penalize solutions that lead to instability. Only upper and lower bounds on the parameters of a model of the DC motor are known. In this way, the dynamic simulations executed during the optimization performed by the PSO employ the average of these bounds. Finally, real-time experiments are performed using a DC motor driving different inertia disks to verify that the parameters of the MMRAC tuned through the PSO are useful despite the changes in the DC motor parameters. © 2022 IEEE.

With rapid technological advancement, cyber-physical systems (CPS) become an emerging era of engineered systems based on computing, networking, and control technologies that revolutionize human lives. New and smart CPS drives innovation and competition in industrial automation, transportation, healthcare applications, etc. Therefore, it is essential to explore the area. The paper presents the emergence of CPS. It includes CPS's evolution, its necessity, and its importance. Then, we explore the diverse applications of CPS in a smart society. Next, we explore various challenges and recent state-of-the-art to overcome these challenges. CPS connects strongly to the currently prevalent terms Internet of Things, the Industrial Internet, Industry 4.0, and Internet of Everything. All of these illustrate a technology that fundamentally connects the physical and digital worlds. CPS is more foundational and durable than all of these. Thus, the work presented here provides a view of substantial social consequences, making its trend progressive. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper applies the information-aware weight method to the field of engineering where the validity of the data characteristics of the prediction object fluctuates or changes rapidly within a limited range. It clarifies the relationship between point similarity and regional similarity, so that the online prediction algorithm has a more acute data characteristic perception ability in the process of responding to data characteristic changes, and can control the life and performance of the product in real time. The error compensation algorithm is based on the relevant theory of the prediction ability solidification after the prediction model training and the use of prior error to approximate the posterior error in the prediction process of the online extreme learning machine derivative algorithm. By establishing a mapping relationship between the input data and the prediction error of the IPW-OSELM algorithm, an error compensation algorithm is formed. Starting from the cost function theory, the IPW-OSELM algorithm effectively integrates multiple parameters such as forgetting factor, regularization parameter and information-aware weight, which improves the overall performance of the WE-OSELM algorithm online prediction and can effectively manage large systems. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper proposes a robust H∞ design method for the disturbance suppression of an inverted pendulum. Based on the LQR method, the H∞ state feedback design, which has good robustness and disturbance rejection, is provided. The H∞ state feedback problem is ultimately converted into the resolution of the Riccati equation. The key to solving the Riccati equation is how to determine the weighted matrix in the H∞ controller. This paper takes the effective bandwidth of the system, the requirements of high properties at low-frequency ranges, and the coordination between variables and other aspects into consideration, which successfully solves the many parameters' selection problem. And the physical significance is clear. The outcomes indicate that the advanced H∞ state feedback control scheme, rooted in LQR robustness, significantly enhances the system's capability to mitigate external interference. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Internet technology is used in Business Intelligence (BI) and continues to provide centralized control assistance with knowledge from many structured and unstructured information sources. Business intelligence's interrelated limits are complicated, pricey, and restrictive. Resources from cloud computing with cost-effective performance and scalability can be used to upgrade existing BI systems and applications to address these issues. Due to rigorous confidentiality, reliability, interoperability requirements, and many dependencies with the other applications, BI systems are often barred from migrating to cloud applications. The paper addresses the obstacles to implementing BI within a cloud infrastructure. It provides the Security and Privacy-related Concerns in Business Intelligence (SPC-BI) framework, which assists decision-makers in considering the impact and privacy, security, costs, and effectiveness of BI structure migrating to network infrastructure. © 2024 IEEE.

The ADP-based controller is optimized using the PSO method so that it can respond appropriately to the changing dynamics of the system. The PSO-pre trained ADP-based control system is evaluated against the 'Proportional-Integral (PI)' and 'Fuzzy Logic control (FLC)' strategies in terms of performance. The simulation results show that the PSO-pretrained ADP-based control scheme has the best tracking error, settling time, and steady-state error compared to the other control schemes. In terms of real-world applications, the suggested control approach may help save costs, increase efficiency, and facilitate the incorporation of renewable energy sources into existing power grids. Additional work might investigate the possibility of integrating PSO with other optimization methods to create more sophisticated and efficient control strategies for ESSs. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper proposes a novel strategy to address the difficulties encountered in Botswana's open-pit mine dewatering procedures. The conventional approach, which relies on labor-intensive manual labor and mechanical switching, is expensive, time-consuming, and present significant safety hazards. To overcome these limitations, this project proposes a multi-sensor network system that automates and optimizes the dewatering process and improve operational efficiency. The system integrates real-time sensor data to monitor fuel consumption and water levels in mining pits, enabling precise pump operation control. The system has two sets of sensors for data collection on fuel levels in the reserve and dewatering pump tank. Water level sensors are also used to monitor the water levels in the tank and turn the pump on or off based on predetermined thresholds. After receiving the sensor data, a microcontroller controls the entire process and shows the fuel levels and consumption on an LCD screen. The system's circuitry was designed and simulated using Proteus software, and the LCD successfully displayed measurements obtained from the sensors. When the sump level surpassed the predetermined threshold, a relay was energized to initiate the motor, thereby pumping out the water. Similarly, the tank level sensor (LV800) detected water levels exceeding 80% capacity, sending a signal to the microcontroller, which, in turn, energized the relay to activate the stage motor. The LCD also displayed readings from the temperature and current sensors. Simulation results indicate that the proposed sensor-based approach effectively monitors the condition of the pumps. At the same time, the microcontroller, in conjunction with the sensors, can adequately control the pump's operation during the dewatering process in the mining pit. This research demonstrates the feasibility and effectiveness of employing sensors and a microcontroller in managing and controlling dewatering pumps. By automating the

This paper presents a method to analyze the local observability of nonlinear systems with known inputs. For this purpose, an algorithm is presented that performs rank checking of the observability matrix using Lie derivatives. To overcome the limitations associated with inserting initial conditions and symbolically computing the derivatives, Interval arithmetic and Taylor series expansion with automatic differentiation are used. This allows observability to be analyzed over an entire domain. The algorithm provides the intervals for which observability cannot be proven by the rank criterion. This can be helpful when designing real-world applications. Two numerical systems are given as examples, with the first one having a constant input signal and the second one having an analytical input. © 2023 IEEE.
