This paper introduces the design of a constrained model predictive control (MPC) scheme for the speed and current control of an induction motor (IM) drive. In the control scheme, an inner MPC controller is used to regulate the d-q currents; while an outer loop is used to regulate the speed of the IM. The cascade MPC scheme is formulated as a constrained optimization problem to fulfill the operational limits for the current and voltage of the IM. Simulation results on Matlab/Simulink are presented to validate the proposed control scheme.

The growing popularity of electric vehicles (EVs) is anticipated to play a pivotal role in mitigating urban air pollution, a critical concern for public health and environmental sustainability. This research paper presents a comprehensive simulation study analyzing the potential impacts of EV adoption on urban air quality, employing advanced computational models to simulate scenarios of varying EV penetration rates within urban transport systems. The study integrates a multidimensional approach, considering factors such as vehicle emission reductions, changes in electricity generation mix, and traffic flow dynamics. Results indicate a significant potential for improvement in urban air quality, with notable reductions in pollutants such as nitrogen oxides (NOx), particulate matter (PM), and carbon monoxide (CO), contingent upon the extent of EV adoption and the decarbonization of the power sector. Furthermore, the paper elucidates the non-linear relationship between EV adoption levels and air quality benefits, highlighting the critical thresholds necessary to achieve meaningful improvements. The findings underscore the importance of supportive policy frameworks and infrastructure development to maximize the environmental benefits of EVs. This study contributes to the ongoing discourse on sustainable urban mobility, offering insights into the role of EVs in fostering cleaner urban environments. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper, a new scheduling model is presented to speed up the logistics processing in an automatic cube storage warehouse. Automated guided vehicles (AGV) are used to move all items in the warehouse according to the computer's instructions. The tasks to be performed by the AGV are optimally distributed using Genetic Algorithms (GA). The goal of our research is to optimize order scheduling in automatic warehouses to reduce human resources and lower the cost of logistics. The proposed GA's fitness function reflects removing the stacked bin, a cube storage warehouse characteristic, and getting the designated bin. Through extensive computer simulations, it is shown that the higher the generation of the GA we design, the lower the logistics processing time. As compared with other meta-heuristic optimization algorithms, our proposed GA algorithm demonstrates a maximum of 21% reduction in delivery time. © 2023 IEEE.

Real-time (RT) implementation of control systems for non-linear processes raises numerous theoretical and practical challenges. Multi-model structures (MM) represent one of the successful solutions for these processes. However, switching of control algorithms constitutes the specific problem of MM structures. Even if reducing the sampling period can increase the precision in the control of some processes, for the case of algorithms switching in the MM structures is not improving significantly. The tests carried out in this work confirm this behavior for some numeric PIDs algorithms. Moreover, these tests can be an example for reducing the computational effort by changing the sampling period up to a maximum limit, specific to the process. However, superior performances in switching control algorithms can be obtained by using a common database for all switched algorithms in the respective MM structure. The architecture proposed in the paper and the tests performed on a laboratory implementation prove these solutions. © 2023 IEEE.

Pneumatic systems are an essential fluid transmission method in the industrial field, which can achieve the transmission and control of power or signals. Leakage in pneumatic systems is challenging to detect and is a highly harmful fault. Most existing leak detection methods use flow or pressure sensors to detect specific leakage amounts, while leak localization is still in the traditional manual detection, which significantly restricts localization efficiency. This article establishes a deep learning framework-based thermal image localization method for pneumatic system leak detection. Infrared images captured in the pneumatic system were collected, and then a deep-learning localization method based on the YOLO framework was established. Then, the recognition accuracy of this method was calculated. The results indicate that the accuracy has reached 99.5% of mAP_0.5 and 86.27% of mAP_0.5:0.95, indicating that this work is a meaningful study that can apply intelligent computing to engineering. © 2024 ACM.

With all kinds of smart home products increasingly penetrating into people's daily life nowadays, smart bins make people's life more convenient and healthy. The smart bin system designed in this thesis realizes the functions of automatic opening, remote control by mobile phone, real-time notification of the status of the bin, early warning of fire risk, voice interactive experience and remote control. Based on the implementation of the functions, the overall design block diagram is determined, and the infrared sensing unit, voice recognition unit, Bluetooth unit, smoke sensing unit and LCD unit are designed. At the same time, this thesis carries out the corresponding hardware design and software design for each unit to ensure the normal operation of each module, and finally through the installation and debugging of the physical object, to ensure the normal use of the functions of the intelligent rubbish bin. © 2024 IEEE.

To solve the problem of low efficiency involved in manually inserting power sockets into soft wires, a new system called an automatic insertion wire device of mechanical arm as a part of intelligent agents has been designed. It has a manipulator end lead channel actuator, a two-degree-of-freedom manipulator, a scissor bending mechanism and a control system. A coordinate system has been established for kinematics analyses and inverse kinematics solution. The joint angles of the manipulator when reaching the terminal hole of the power socket are 47.7° and 91.3° for joint angles 1 and 2, respectively. The motions of the scissor bending mechanism are analyzed using a coordinate system, and the rotation angle of support rod 1 is found to be 32.3° after the completion of soft wire bending. A model of the actuator and scissor bending mechanism is created using SolidWorks, and motion simulations are carried out to verify the insertion of soft wire. A prototype is built and tested, which demonstrates that the angle variation range of the soft wire head part due to push block movement is between 58° and 63°, while the angle variation range of the shear fork bending mechanism to other parts of the soft wire is between 168° and 173°. All parameters meet the anticipated goal, effectively resolving the problem of low efficiency. © 2024 SPIE.

Internet of Things (IoT) is turning out to be more prominent in our everyday existence, with smart home appliances and industrial control systems serving as examples. But the proliferation of IoT devices and internet connectivity increased the potential of security breaches. Botnet attacks, injection attacks, Domain Name Systems (DNS) spoofing attacks, firmware assaults, zero-day attacks, brute- force attacks, and cryptographic attacks may be used against IoT devices. These assaults may result in the loss of data, illegal access, and even physical damage to infrastructure and people. There are various potential courses of action. Machine Learning subpart of Artificial Intelligence have the capacity for finding and prevent dangers in real time. With blockchain technology, an IoT network can have a secure and unbreakable a record of every exchange and data transfers. Hardware-based security techniques, such as secure boot and trusted execution environments, may protect IoT devices against attacks that seek to compromise the underlying hardware or firmware. Standardizing security procedures may ensure that all devices can work together safely and achieve a given degree of security. The use of privacy-enhancing technology, IoT data may be kept confidential and sensitive information disguised. © 2024 IEEE.

Despite advances in continuous-time reinforcement learning, employing continuous-time actor-critic (CTAC) algorithm is not always the best choice due to the lack of value estimation method. This paper introduces a novel Continuous-time Double Actors and Regularized Critics method. We apply the underlying ideas behind the success of continuous control reinforcement learning to continuous-time tasks, aiming to achieve better value estimation and exploration compared to CTAC. Experimental results demonstrate that our method can reach the maximum reward in fewer training rounds, significantly outperforming CTAC. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

This work presents an IoT-Blockchain integration solution to enhance the typical Drone systems to acquire optimal organizational performance. Several questions that are associated with modern drone operations are solved by the suggested system, and these questions are the following: data security, efficiency of work, and system scalability. Concerning the experimental results, the boost in the realism of the data transfer rates can also be seen - the mean rate is increased from 500 to 1200 KB/s, thus enabling real-time control. Another effect of Smart Contracts was reducing the time it took to carry out operational activities to which the contracts were applied. For instance, the time taken to route a flight to save time was brought down from 10 minutes to 2 minutes, the time to allocate resources for the flight was brought down from 15 minutes to 3 minutes, and the time to schedule maintenance of the flight was brought down from 20 minutes to 5 minutes. It also presented the framework's performance metrics, such as a 0% data breach incidence rate different from the annual average of 12 in centralized traditional systems. This goes well with Blockchain's ability to house information in a record that can never be altered, providing data security and credibility. However, the system also proved scalability as the number of drones changed from 10 to 100, and the throughput changed from 100 to 920 TPS. Also, the system latency remained below 70 ms during this process, which is critical for responsive trading applications. © 2024 IEEE.
