Face-To-face communication is a form of interaction that are done by every people, but it is hard to be implemented for blind person, especially for them to recognize their interlocutors' facial expression. Hence, a device is needed for recognizing facial expression, so blind people could recognize their interlocutors' facial expression clearly and those expressions converted into non-verbal information in type of *** research will use embedded device designed for machine learning called AWS DeepLens, which purposed for looking the performance of the device when using Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud computing services for AI-Trained model and compare it to on-premises deep learning. The device's outputs will inform facial expression information to the user via sound. Deep learning algorithm success will be measured in confusion matrix and its average rate is 76,16%. This proposed device utilizes cloud computing system from AWS, with objectives of system robustness and real-Time usage. © 2020 IEEE.

This paper aimed to investigate the role of mobile applications in the development of community enterprises during the pandemic. The application was a marketing tool that sent personalized promotions to apps embedded in mobile devices based on a community enterprise in Noen Kham, Chainat. Situated analytics (SA), a combination of location-based and analytical interaction, can improve customer understanding. This study developed a mobile application (app) called WeaveApp, which uses SA to present product information on mobile devices to assist consumers in making decisions during a shopping scenario. The WeaveApp was created to only scan the QR code of a contact s seller with their smartphone s camera. The helpful contact information will then be displayed on the smartphone screen, thanks to the concept of situated analytics. When designing and developing the mobile app prototype, an iterative process of design analysis, prototype development, and user interface evaluation was used. During the iterative process, the number of iterations was limited to three, and the data gathered during each iteration was used to improve the mobile app in subsequent iterations. After several iteration cycles, the final version of the WeaveApp was created. Every component, including the QR scanning system and the cloud database, was tested to ensure they functioned as intended. In a shopping environment, the effectiveness of the mobile app in assisting consumers in making a weave selection was evaluated. WeaveApp significantly increases customers success rate when selecting a weave product based on the findings. A tutorial on using the WeaveApp is one of the new features added to the app. When the mobile app is first launched, it can input special weave conditions, such as a new pattern, to provide a more personalized way of informing the customer about the weave products. © 2021 Association for computing Machinery. Encouraging people to walk rather than using other means of transportation is an important factor towards personal health and environmental sustainability. However, given the large number of pedestrian accidents recorded every year, the need for safe urban environments is increasing. Taking advantage of the potential of citizen-science for crowdsourcing data and creating awareness, we developed a smartphone application for enhancing the safety of pedestrians while walking in cities. Using the application, citizens will monitor the urban sidewalks and update a crowdsourcing platform with the detected barriers and damages that hinder safe walking, along with their location on a city map. To help users assign the correct type of obstacle, and authorities to assess the urgency, a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) model for barrier and damage recognition is embedded in the application. The results of a user evaluation, based on a group of volunteers who used the application in real conditions, demonstrate the potential of using the application in conjunction with a smart city framework. © 2021, ICST Institute for Computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.

Protection of copyright for all types of digital data is becoming a very important issue. Watermarking is emerging to be the mechanism of choice for this purpose for image and video data. We believe this is an important issue for volume data as well. In this paper, we propose a method of digital watermarking three-dimensional volume data based on the wavelet transform. The watermark data is embedded into the volume by thresholding and modifying selected coefficients. The algorithm is designed in such a manner that the effect of embedding is invisible in the volume rendering of the watermarked volume. The watermark can be detected using a keyword coded with the threshold values after the wavelet decomposition of the watermarked volume data. Experimental results show the proposed method is imperceptible in the sense that it retains original volume data's rendering quality and at the same time is robust against common attacks such as cropping and adding Gaussian noise. © multimedia Modeling: Modeling multimedia Information and Systems, MMM 2000. Enhanced Distributed Channel Access (EDCA) is a distributed control protocol to guarantee the network quality of service (QoS). It extends the access mode based on the traditional IEEE 802.11, and becomes an effective means to provide highly reliable transmission of real-Time applications. The four access categories of it show the ability to guarantee various priority queues when the network load varies frequently, and multimedia data transmission has the characteristics of high real-Time and concurrency. Therefore, it is necessary to analyse and verify the high reliability of the protocol according to requirements. In this paper, we formalize the EDCA protocol and design three transmission modes respectively. Then we verify the probability accessibility and feasibility of EDCA, and find that the higher priority queue with lower parameter value will affect the sending of low priority. More importantly, we compare the performance of Distributed Coordination Function (DCF) in collision probability and transmission probability. Finally, we demonstrate the reliability and practicability of EDCA via detailed properties studies in different network conditions, and propose innovative ideas for existing problems, which provide guidance reference for implementation and improvement. © 2020 IEEE.

In order to improve the management ability of multimedia tennis video teaching data in colleges and universities under cloud computing, the optimization design of college multimedia tennis video teaching data integration system is carried out. Big data processing technology is used to optimize the scheduling and management of multimedia tennis video teaching data in colleges and universities under cloud computing, and a data management model of college multimedia tennis video teaching is constructed. Extracting metadata of college multimedia tennis video teaching data under cloud computing, using semantic feature extraction method to extract multimedia tennis video teaching data information feature extraction, The fuzzy correlation degree characteristics of multimedia tennis video teaching data metadata in cloud computing environment is calculated, and combines fuzzy clustering method to deal with multimedia tennis video teaching data information clustering in colleges and universities under cloud computing. Improve the multimedia tennis video teaching data extended query and parallel scheduling ability. Develop and design the multimedia tennis video teaching data integration system in the embedded mobile terminal. The simulation results show that this method is used to design the multimedia tennis video teaching data integration system under cloud computing, which improves the information management ability of the multimedia tennis video teaching data, and the balance of resource scheduling is good, the teaching quality is improved.

Contrary to cloud computing, edge computing shifts some of the computational loads to the edge device to accommodate real-time and complex processing. Multicore processors are commonly employed to accommodate the high computational requirements. Meanwhile, skills required to build such a complex program is still uncommon due to the limited exposure to multicore environment in embedded system. There is a need for platform that facilitates learning and development of multicore processor in embedded system, while keeping the learning curve relatively easy. Arduino IDE is a widely used and user-friendly platform, but officially only supports single core processors. This work proposes a design of multicore IDE for embedded system based on modification on the Arduino IDE. Implementation of the design is not discussed to keep the proposed design general and reusable.

Approximate computing paradigm has emerged as one of the key research fields in area and energy efficient CMOS circuit design for error-tolerant applications like data mining, scientific computing, multimedia applications, etc. multimedia applications (such as H.264) which use SRAM as storage consume a significant amount of power. In this paper, we propose heterogeneous 8T SRAM memory architectures without and with truncation (2-bit) as storage for low power multimedia applications in smartphones. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first work where both heterogeneous SRAM design and bit-truncation techniques have been simultaneously used to obtain low power memory design for multimedia applications. We show that the proposed techniques provide high image quality even at low power and low area budget of 0.3 mu W/pixel and 5.2 mu m2/pixel at 0.5 V and 20 MHz in UMC 28nm. The proposed memory architecture is compared with existing heterogeneous 6T, hybrid 8T/6T, all-identical 6T, and all-identical 8T SRAM memory. The results show that proposed memory architectures perform cumulatively better than existing techniques in terms of dynamic power, leakage power & area. The use of proposed memory for storage of an image has much higher Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) and Structural Similarity Index Metric (SSIM) than existing SRAM techniques. The results are verified by Spice simulation performed in UMC 28 nm CMOS technology.

Home entrance is a vital entry point that should be secured at all times. A bi-level home access system was designed and developed using face authentication and hand gesture recognition. The system's mainframe runs on a Raspberry Pi 3 minicomputer. The board serves as the computing platform to process various deep learning algorithms for face authentication and hand gesture recognition. It also serves as a communication hub which allows registered users to communicate with the system remotely via mobile application. Home occupants may also register emergency contacts such as their neighbours' for quick response at their property. An Android mobile application was developed for remote user interface. Google Firebase platform was used to store user profile and historical data. The face authentication consists of two steps, namely face detection and face recognition. The Multi-task Cascaded Convolutional Neural Network (MTCNN) was employed for face detection, while the Inception ResNet was used for face recognition. Upon successful face authentication, the system proceeds to read the user's hand gesture. First, the system detects the hand using Single Shot MultiBox Detector (SSD) that runs on a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). Next, a sequence of hand pose is recognised using the conventional CNN method. Based on experiments, the average detection/recognition accuracy under normal operating conditions using real face and real-video captured by the system is approximately 95.7%. An occupant needs approximately 7s to complete the process to enter the house.

There seems to be a danger to carelessly replace routine tasks in homes through automation with IoT-technology. But since routines such as watering houseplants also have positive influences on inhabitants' wellbeing, they should be transformed through carefully performed designs. To this end, an attempt to use technology for augmenting a set of houseplants' non-verbal communication capabilities is presented. First, we describe in detail how implicit interactions have been designed to support inhabitants in watering their plants through meaningful interactions. Then, we report on a field study with 24 participants, comparing two alternative design implementations based on contrasting embodied interaction technologies (i.e., augmented reality and embedded computing technology). The study results highlight shortcomings of today's smartphone mediated augmented reality compared to physical interface alternatives, considering measurements of perceived attractiveness and expected effects on determinants of wellbeing, and discusses potentials of combining both modalities for future solutions.
