Cascaded H-bridge (CHB) inverter is a good fit for grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) applications because of its benefits like modularity, fault tolerance, and low current distortion etc.,. However, uneven power generation, called as power imbalance, is one of the frequent problems encountered by the CHB inverter fed PV system. Power imbalance causes the h-bridge modules (HBM) with high PV power to overmodulate and worsens the distortion of the grid current. Despite the increase in the modulation region to 4/π with the use of existing harmonic compensation techniques, a need for higher modulation index (MI) arises because of severe power imbalance in the system. Hence, a battery aided approach for the CHB inverter fed PV system is presented in this paper to improve the utilization of PV sources and nullify the severe power imbalance in the system and the proposed approach is validated with the help of simulation studies. © 2023 IEEE.

Renewable energy sources, in particular wind energy, are being more and more integrated into the network of charging places for electric vehicles. As a result, there have been significant worries over the power systems' ability to operate dependably and satisfactorily. Integrating energy storage devices for electric vehicles is one of the suggestions made to increase the performance and dependability of these systems. The newest developments, advantages, size considerations, efficiency, cost, and recycling of battery energy storage systems are all covered in depth in this paper. The benefits and disadvantages of the various battery energy storage technologies are thoroughly analyzed, explained, and contrasted. When it comes to grid applications, the economic advantages of battery sizing using probabilistic and optimization techniques offer a potential solution during the strategy by taking into account a variety of factors affecting the sizing of the battery, such as the deprivation rate, reliability, and battery location. The comparative analysis are carried out in the optimization technique to predict the best efficiency in battery energy storage system. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper analyzes the functions and applications of the data analysis platform at the end of the transformer area. The role of edge computing and edge computing technology in Transformer region analysis and application management is analyzed. The structure of the Transformer region is briefly introduced, the end data analysis platform of the Transformer region is established, the platform structure and platform deployment method are analyzed, and the main functions of the Transformer region data analysis are explained. Taking the analysis of data line loss at the end of the Transformer region as an example, it is introduced to illustrate the effectiveness of this platform in data management. © 2022 IEEE.

This paper proposes a novel isolated dual-input single-output (DISO) converter configuration between battery and ultracapacitor in hybrid energy storage systems (HESS) for electric vehicle (EV) applications. This converter integrates a modified isolated SEPIC converter with a boost cell, enabling it to handle batteries and ultracapacitors with different terminal voltages. It also allows for seamless transition between different power sources. The modified isolated SEPIC topology connects the capacitor to the negative terminal of the power source to harness more energy. The proposed converter meets the requirements of DC-DC converters for commercial electric vehicles, including a input-output isolation, high voltage gain, and bidirectional power flow. The paper emphasizes the importance of regeneration in EVs to achieve better energy utilization. Simulation results confirm effectiveness of proposed converter configuration in managing power flow and maximizing energy utilization in hybrid EVs. © 2023 IEEE.

Sensor nodes deployment is very critical in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) to cover a set of predetermined locations called 'targets' in the region of interest (ROI), and to enhance the coverage area, optimal position of sensor nodes in ROI is essential. The aim of sensor nodes deployment and coverage in WSNs is to compute sensor node's locations in the given network terrain such that they effectively detect the events as well as maximize the network lifetime. Battery depletion at sensor nodes creates coverage holes in ROI and it mitigates the network coverage. The objective of this paper is to define optimal locations of sensor nodes prior to their deployment and enhance the coverage area in the given geographical location using an improved particle swarm optimization (IPSO) algorithm. The experimental results showed superior coverage and faster convergence rate with the IPSO algorithm-than random deployments and grid-based deployments of sensor nodes. © 2024 IEEE.

Transformers are key hub equipment in the power system, and their operation reliability is directly related to the stability of the power grid. In order to ensure the safe and stable operation of the transformer, monitoring devices such as dissolved gas analysis (DGA), partial discharge (PD), and voiceprint vibration are installed to obtain multimodal data such as structured data, visible light pictures, atlas pictures, and voiceprint data. However, existing fault diagnosis methods cannot integrate these multi-modal features to evaluate the health state of the transformer. In order to solve these problems, a transformer multi-modal data knowledge fusion coding method based on attention model is proposed. For structured state quantities such as online monitoring state quantities and test state quantities, Bi-LSTM is used for encoding to obtain structured state quantity codes. For the partial discharge state quantity, multi-dimensional structured data is extracted from the n-q-φ spectrum and discharge waveform spectrum, and Bi-LSTM is used to obtain the partial discharge structured state quantity codes. For RGB images, an encoding structure including a convolution layer, a pooling layer and a coding layer is constructed to obtain partial discharge image codes. Then, structured state quantity codes, partial discharge structured state quantity codes and partial discharge image codes were fused based on the Attention model, and the fused multi-modal data knowledge codes were used in the fault diagnosis process of the transformer. Multimodal data knowledge encoding technology is applied to transformer fault diagnosis. The application results show that the fault diagnosis accuracy can be significantly improved after fusion and encoding of multimodal data. Compared with the traditional structured state quantity diagnosis model, the accuracy of fault diagnosis is improved. 8.75%, up to 92.50%. © 2024 SPIE.

The extension of distributed power generation using renewable energy sources (RES) has led to the development of new power electronic converters. These converters with distributed energy resources (DERs), such as solar photovolataic (PV), helps to create an efficient electric microgrid. Chopper (DC-DC) and inverter (DC-AC) circuits are needed to increase the voltage of DERs and incorporate them into the AC microgrid. A novel design of 17-level inverter is proposed to improve the overall efficiency of photovoltaic electricity generation for microgrid applications. The proposed Multilevel Multilevel Inverter (MLI) offers lower switching losses, simple switching methods, and modularity than its counterparts. Simulation results demonstrate the effective operation of the proposed inverter for different levels of operation (up to 17-level) under steady state and transient conditions. © 2023 IEEE.

In edge cloud clusters, application instances are often deployed on edge nodes close to users, thereby reducing response time. However, the computing capacity of edge nodes is limited, necessitating the use of auto-scaling technology to dynamically adjust the number of application instances on the nodes based on the load. In this paper, we propose a predictive auto-scaling algorithm to improve the cluster resource utilization efficiency. Specifically, the service workload of each edge node is predicted by a time series parallel prediction model. Then, based on these prediction results of service workload, the autoscaling decisions of edge nodes for resource adjustment in each cycle scale are obtained by the multi-agent proximal policy optimization algorithm. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can improve the degree of service level agreement of service applications and the cluster resource utilization efficiency. © 2024 IEEE.

The integration of blockchain technology into decen-tralized energy trading presents a promising solution to current challenges in energy markets. By leveraging Layer 2 blockchain solutions, such as sidechains and rollups, the scalability, cost-effectiveness and transaction throughput of energy trading plat-forms can be significantly enhanced. This paper focuses on the implementation of smart contracts for energy trading, comparing transaction costs and scalability between Layer 1 and Layer 2 networks. Layer 2 network employs smart contracts to match orders of buyers to that of sellers. The results demonstrate that Layer 2 solutions drastically reduce costs and improve efficiency, making them more feasible for real-world applications. Moreover, this study highlights the potential of using advanced smart contracts and algorithms to further enhance decision-making in energy trades. Future work will focus on optimizing these Layer 2 solutions to handle complex trading scenarios and integrating them into smart grids to create a more sustainable and efficient energy market. © 2024 IEEE.
