Human Activity Recognition was a key part of medical and mobile applications in today's world, with important applications in old-age homes and monitoring daily activities. In this paper, we proposed an automated Human Activity Recognition model using a 1-Dimensional Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). To select the optimal parameters for the CNN model, we used the grid Search Cross Validation method. On one hand, we used a manual feature extraction and CNN method. Starting from the physical significance of accelerometer and gyroscope signals, we extracted a new set of features. Experimental results show that the new features we extracted perform well in common human activity recognition tasks using SVM, MLP, and CNN. On the other hand, we used a method where CNN automatically extracts features and performs recognition. Experimental results indicate that CNN's automatic feature extraction is more effective than manual extraction. The model proposed in this paper achieved a recognition rate of up to 98.53%, which is 2% higher than the current accuracy. © 2024 IEEE.

With the rapid development of cloud computing and virtualization technology, more and more applications are being deployed and run in cloud environments, and compatibility issues between different browsers are becoming increasingly prominent. A browser compatibility performance detection method based on virtual cloud technology is proposed to address this issue. Using virtual cloud technology for environmental simulation, building a prediction model based on machine learning technology, predicting compatibility issues under different browser versions through this model, obtaining browser compatibility test data, and discovering patterns, trends, and patterns. Finally, build a browser compatibility performance test based on the Linux operating system to obtain the test results. The experimental results show that the detection results of this method have a high recall rate and a low false alarm rate. By increasing the number of test cases, it covers more situations and scenarios, improving the comprehensiveness of browser compatibility performance detection results. © COPYRIGHT SPIE. Mobile edge computing is considered a key technology for upcoming 6G networks, which allows real-Time processing of large amounts of data at the network edge. Specifically, considering the strict requirements of new services and Internet of Things (IoT) applications in different domains, such as healthcare, transportation, smart city, smart grid and more, increased mobile data traffic can be handled with the benefits of this technology. As an enabler for these interesting applications for 6G, mobile edge computing deploys edge servers at the network edge, enabling the offloading of computation tasks to reduce processing latency. However, achieving cost-effective placement of edge servers presents a challenge in effectively distributing the workload among them while simultaneously minimizing overall system cost. To address this issue, we propose a digital twin framework, where digital twin technology is used to model virtual replicas of edge servers in the real world and simulate their behavior. Then, the proposed edge server placement framework can place the edge servers and balance the workload of the edge servers. The objective of the proposed strategy is to minimize the system cost in terms of processing time and access delay. The edge server placement is formulated as an optimization problem in mobile edge computing systems and a genetic-based algorithm is introduced to address this issue. Simulation results demonstrate the efficiency of our proposed digital twin framework achieving less system cost compared to other benchmark methods. © 2023 IEEE.

The primary objective of this paper is to inspect the fuzzy controller for MPPT in PV system integrated with a wind system and linked to the grid using a DC–DC converter and PWM rectifier. To address power quality issues, the proposed FUZZY MPPT algorithm is expected to provide precise and efficient MPPT tracking, thereby reducing power fluctuations in real-time applications. The use of a flyback converter with a single switch is expected to improve the system's efficiency. Moreover, the paper suggests using a multilevel inverter topology with multicarrier reference PWM technique to convert DC to AC with fewer power switches with a higher count of voltage stages at the output. The intended system will be simulated in MATLAB and compared with existing PI and fuzzy controllers. The study will also validate the assessment of the flyback converter among the FUZZY set of rules and ANFIS controller through grid synchronization. The converter and inverter's performance will be tested using a DSPIC30F2010 microcontroller to ensure their proper operation. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

In the era of pervasive computing, a generation of lightweight ciphers was needed to provide near-optimal security;officially, NIST announced the standard lightweight cryptographic primitive. The newly announced standard, ASCON, is based on a 5-bit input and 5-bit output Substitution Box (S-box). This paper proposes a key-dependent S-box methodology for small-size S-box for Internet of Things (IoT) devices widely used in many applications such as Smart grids, healthcare, etc. We aided this study with the chaotic logistic map to generate a robust S-box. The key-dependent S-box can add an extra layer of security to the cryptosystem specifically for lightweight devices at the minimal cost of generation time of a new S-box. We have investigated the proposed methodology with cryptographic properties of S-box, such as Differential Probability (DP), Linear Probability (LP), Nonlinearity, Strict Avalanche Criteria (SAC), Boomerang Connectivity Table (BCT), Key-space analysis, and implementation on Arduino. We also compared the proposed methodology with other state-of-the-art (SOTA) 5 - bit input and output S-boxes. Experimental results witness the robustness of the proposed study. © 2024 IEEE.

Regarding a paralleled synchronous generator (SG) and virtual synchronous generator (VSG) system connected to a weak grid, the transient stability should be given more concern. This paper proposes applying resistive superconducting fault current limiters (R-SFCLs) to boost the paralleled SG-VSG system's transient stability while meeting the current limitation requirement (CLR). Firstly, the theoretical modeling is carried out, and the influencing mechanism of the grid strength on the transient stability is clarified. Then, the functions of the R-SFCLs to the paralleled system are analyzed, and the parameter design guidelines for the R-SFCLs are stated. Time-domain simulations are implemented in MATLAB, and a detailed comparison of using the R-SFCLs and the additional torque control for the paralleled system is made. From the simulations, the proposed approach offers a more significant stabilization effect. It outperforms the additional torque control to decrease the unbalanced power, eliminate the power angle oscillation, and handle the short-circuit fault with a longer duration for the paralleled system. The viability and appropriateness of the proposed approach are well confirmed.

applications in the automated microscopy require careful calibration of the microscope system. In one such scenario where automated microscope is made to work with auto slide scanner, accurate measurement of the calibration parameters becomes an essential procedure. Here, we propose an automated method for finding the calibration parameters of a microscope based auto slide scanner. Microscopic images of a grid micrometer slide are analyzed for finding calibration parameters. Apart from the automated microscope and auto slide scanner, the procedure requires a digital camera and a grid micrometer slide. This calibration finding embraces the following parameters of camera and slide scanner: (a) measuring the pixel size in micrometers, (b) measuring the camera orientation and (c) measuring the linearity and uniformity of the slide scanner. The proposed method is accurate, reproducible and scalable enough to be suitable for applications requiring in-situ calibration. © 2023 IEEE.

Driven by the wide adoption of distributed renewable energy sources (RES), peer-to-peer (P2P) regional energy trading models have emerged as a major service offering, where prosumers can participate directly in local transactions. However, this distributed approach may result in privacy risks since the malicious users might manipulate the user data to compromise the integrity of the entire trading market. In this study, we introduce a verifiable secure multi-party computation scheme for P2P regional energy trading. This scheme facilitates the market pricing and clearing process in a distributed computing context without a third-party authority. Furthermore, we develop a multi-party zero-knowledge proof algorithm by leveraging the multi-party computation paradigm. This algorithm ensures the integrity of trading computations by guaranteeing the correctness of both data and computational process. We conduct experiments to evaluate the performance of our scheme in terms of proof generation and validation time by varying the number of participants. The results highlight the feasibility of our scheme for real-world applications, while preserving the privacy and integrity of energy trading computations. © 2023 IEEE.

Recently, the significance of the Underwater Acoustic Sensor Network (UWASN) attracts the researchers due to the huge benefits of data collection obtained from the sensor nodes under the ocean. Resource exploration in underwater uses a sensor node for data sensing, collecting, processing and forwarding. These sensor nodes are energy constrained and often depleted, then becomes inactive. This occurrence may lead to network failure while computing optimal node selection, hence proposes non linear grid-Based Search Energy Optimization (GBSEO) algorithm to find the optimal forwarding node with Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV). The GBSEO algorithm considers the underwater Doppler Effect, sedimental drift and water current based on non linear searching and thereby improves the overall efficiency of the network by optimizing the energy of sensor nodes. AUV utilizes non linear optimization to improve the path selection based on GBSEO and thereby increases the network lifetime, energy efficiency and reduces the time delay. The results show that the proposed GBSEO algorithm outperforms the traditional algorithm Clustering Algorithm Optimization (CAO). © 2024 IEEE.
