BACKGROUND: There is a large body of literature on research about fault management in gridcomputing. Despite being a well-established research area, there are no systematic studies focusing on characterizing the sorts of research that have been conducted, identifying wellexplored topics as well as opportunities for further research. OBJECTIVE: This study aims at surveying the existing research on fault management in gridcomputing in order to identify useful approaches and opportunities for future research. METHOD: We conducted a systematic mapping study to collect, classify and analyze the research literature on fault management in gridcomputing indexed by the main search engines in the field. RESULTS: Our study selected and classified 257 scientific papers and was able to answer five research questions regarding the distribution of the scientific production over the time and space. CONCLUSIONS: The majority of the selected studies focus on fault tolerance, with very few efforts towards fault prevention, prediction and removal.

Controlled shell and controlled desktop mechanisms are used to restrict the user to execute only authorized commands and applications. distributedgrids can be formed from computing resources belonging to multiple individuals. grid middleware is installed and integrated into the existing infrastructure of the involved technologies. Major grid middleware's are Globus Toolkit, gLite, and UNICORE. In this grid we are using a new platform called GRISSOM, it means grids for In Silico Systems biOlogy & Medicine. GRISSOM aims to set a generic paradigm of efficient meta-mining that promotes translational research in Biomedicine, through the fusion of grid and Semantic Web computing technologies. Our paper deals with handling huge volume of biological data which is heterogeneous, autonomous and dynamic in nature. Meteorology gridcomputing aims to provide scientist with seamless, reliable, secure and inexpensive access to meteorological resources. However, the vision of achieving these goals has been encountered with many challenges such as the degree of easy-to-use and the capability of seamless automation. Fortunately, the emerging semantic web service and semantic grid technologies will bring some significant solutions for the above challenges. Currently, Semantic Meteorology grid Architecture (SMGA) is being developed by us to support automated meteorology grid service discovery, selection, and composition. In this paper, we present a model for semantic annotation and publication of meteorology grid services by combining the expressive power of the present ontology language and the advantages of semantic web techniques. The presented model is an initial work to support automating the discovery, selection, and workflow composition of semantically described heterogeneous meteorological services, which offers the possibility of facilitating geographically distributed meteorological scientists to resolve complex scientific problems cooperately.

Developing new remote sensing data processing software based on gridcomputing (RSDPS-G) has been a trend. The registry service Is an essential component in RSDPS-G for sharing and interoperating huge volume distributed remote sensing data, as well as publishing and querying services. The registry service is also a key component for workflow-based virtual remote sensing data products. We propose to build a registry service based on Monitoring & Discovery System (MDS4) which is a module of Globus Toolkit (GT4). It can be integrated seamlessly with the services in GT4 and make it easy for geospatial web services/remote sensing data and services registered into the grid.

Certain bioinformatics research, such as sequence alignment, alternative splicing, protein function/structure prediction, gene identify, bio-chip data analysis, and so on, requires massive computing power, which is hardly available in a single computing node. In order to facilitate bioinformatics research, we have designed and implemented a distributed and parallel computing environment with grid technology, in which, biologists can solve bioinformatics problems using distributedcomputing resources in parallel and reduce execution time. In this environment, the computing power and program information of computing nodes are described with XML. documents. A web service named Local Resource Management Service is deployed on each computing node so that the distributed resources can be accessed in a uniform manner. With an API suite, biologists can use distributedcomputing resources in parallel easily in their applications. Further more, users can monitor the status of distributed resources dynamically on the portal. A real use case of alternative splicing is also presented, through which we have analyzed the usability, efficiency, and stability of the environment.

In this paper, a distributed energy grid control method based on collaborative consensus algorithm is proposed. Faced with the problem of insufficient control ability of independent power grid, multiple system control objectives are optimized. Moreover, according to the research goal of the consistency algorithm, the Pareto solution of the micro-grid control system is obtained. In addition, the optimized topology includes many categories, corresponding to different optimization goals respectively. Meanwhile, according to the micro-grid power control and voltage recovery studied in this paper, the ring network topology has obvious advantages. Through the simulation results, compared with other topologies, the ring topology has obvious advantages in both convergence and delay robustness, which proves its effectiveness.
