The resources management in a gridcomputing is a complicated problem. Scheduling algorithms play important role in the parallel distributedcomputing systems for scheduling jobs, and dispatching them to appropriate resources. An efficient task scheduling algorithm is needed to reduce the total Time and Cost for job execution and improve the Load balancing between resources in the grid. In gridcomputing, load balancing is a technique to distribute workload fairly across computational resources, in order to obtain optimal resource utilization with minimum response time, and avoid overload. Load balancing is a crucial problem to gridcomputing. In this paper, we address scheduling problem of independent tasks in the market-based grid. In market grids, resource providers can request payment from users based on the amount of computational resource that used by them. Beside we consider Makespan and Load balancing. In this paper, NSGA II with Fuzzy Adaptive Mutation Operator is used to address independent task assignments problems in parallel distributedcomputing systems. Results obtained proved that our innovative algorithm converges to Pareto-optimal solutions faster and with more quality.

gridcomputing, inspired by electrical power grid, is an emerging trend for making easy access to computing resources. Its main objective is to solve computationally hard problems which otherwise cannot be solved by single CPU. This extremely high computing power is achieved by optimal utilization of geographically distributed heterogeneous resources which are lying idle. Load balanced task scheduling is very important problem in complex grid environment. So task scheduling which is one of the NP-Complete problems becomes a focus of research scholars in gridcomputing area. The traditional Min-Min and Max-Min algorithms are simple algorithms that produces a schedule that minimizes the makespan than the other traditional algorithms in the literature. In real scenario of Min-Min and Max-Min failed to produce a load balanced schedule. The proposed method has two-phases. In the first phase the traditional Max-Min algorithm is executed and in the second phase the tasks are rescheduled to use the unutilized resources effectively.

Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) support the development of software applications as loosely coupled discrete web services capable of running on multiple software and hardware platforms. gridcomputing has allowed for the virtualization of both hardware and software resources, whereby it is possible to dynamically share, select, and use geographically distributed resources based on users' needs. While gridcomputing offers a way of distributing the system resources dynamically, SOA provides open standards based Web services for its users to discover and use available resources across the system. Hence it is a natural fit to leverage the benefits of gridcomputing architectures using SOA. This paper examines the current developments in providing SOA based open standards for grid services and some of their limitations.

To tackle soaring power costs, significant carbon emission and unexpected power outage, Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) typically equip their Datacenters with a Power Supply System (DPSS) nurtured by multiple sources: (1) smart grid with time-varying electricity prices, (2) uninterrupted power supply (UPS), and (3) renewable energy with intermittent and uncertain supply. It remains a significant challenge how to operate among multiple power supply sources in a complementary manner, to deliver reliable energy to datacenter users with arbitrary demand over time, while minimizing a CSP's operation cost over the long run. This paper proposes an efficient, online control algorithm for DPSS, SmartDPSS, based on the two-timescale Lyapunov optimization techniques. Without requiring a priori knowledge of system statistics, SmartDPSS allows CSPs to make online decisions on how much power demand, including delay-sensitive demand and delay-tolerant demand, to serve at each time, the amount of power to purchase from the long-term-ahead and real-time grid markets, and charging and discharging of UPS over time, in order to fully leverage the available renewable energy and time-varying prices from the grid markets, for minimum operational cost. We thoroughly analyze the performance of our online control algorithm with rigorous theoretical analysis. We also demonstrate its optimality in terms of operational cost, demand service delay, datacenter availability, system robustness and scalability, using extensive simulations based on one-month worth of traces from live power systems.

This paper is the sequel of a previous one defining gridSAT, that is, a general purpose powerful architecture that can use satellites as a communication medium for reliable large files distribution to multiple receivers in geographically dispersed grids. In particular, we propose here a specialization of gridSAT, describing middleware and protocols involved, highlighting security and efficiency, and discussing a useful scenario related to database replication as well. Therefore Such an architecture represents a Solution to some relevant data grid issues.

This paper introduces the concept of gridcomputing and its characteristics. Basing on analyzing the characteristics of gridcomputing, we apply gridcomputing to GIS field to construct grid GIS, which is the application of gridcomputing on geographic information system with gridcomputing as the basic running environment. According to the architecture of grid and integrating the characteristics of GIS, we design the architecture of grid GIS, which has three layers. They are grid GIS resource layer, grid GIS middleware layer and grid GIS application layer. Among them, the grid GIS middleware layer is the most important. Then this paper expatiates on our research on grid GIS middleware, which is about the design and development of distributed cooperative computing GIS software. The key technologies of the distributed cooperative computing GIS software are discussed, which include technology of global spatial resource management, spatial data computing task allocation and management, system consistency mechanism and system security mechanism. The implementation process is also presented. At last, this paper presents the further researches of the distributed cooperative computing GIS software.

In this paper, we present a distributedcomputing scheme for examination feedback analysis based on grid. The proposed scheme is motivated by the observation that as the number of examinations increases, the feedback analysis would become extremely slow if a single server is used. gridcomputing can be used to solve the problem by evenly distributing the workload of the system to all the available nodes, thus greatly enhancing the performance of feedback analysis in a learning system. We use Hyper grid Learning System (HGLS)-a learning system with examination service-we developed as an example to describe the proposed scheme. We note that although discussed in the context of HGLS, the proposed scheme can be easily adapted and applied to all the e-learning systems based on gridcomputing. To evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme, we compare the performance of the proposed scheme with single node servers. Our experimental result shows that the proposed scheme can greatly enhance the performance of the feedback analysis in a learning system base on grid.

This paper presents an architecture for service hosting on virtual clusters spanning multiple administrative domains that balances the requirements of application developers and resource provider system administrators. The presented architecture and implementation use virtual machines to simplify the deployment of externally-accessible persistent Web and grid services while allowing resource provider system administrators to monitor hosted virtual machines and perform critical maintenance when necessary. This approach allows developers full control of their distributed resources, specifies a mechanism for resource provider monitoring and intervention, and reduces the barrier for hosting user-supplied virtual machines on shared resource provider cyberinfrastructure.

This paper presents the research joint efforts between Ain Shams University and George Washington University of creating a computing environment using the gridcomputing technologies (Globus Toolkit). This environment will be used to solve the problem of recognizing Arabic signature using advanced techniques based on neural networks and the wavelet decomposition. This environment is a cost efficient means for performing massive computations in Egypt, where supercomputers are not affordable, by using the already proven gridcomputing technology. In addition, it will enable the fast recognition of Arabic text in applications where speed matters.
