A high-quality ecosystem plan may signify a milestone in the development of smart living. The Internet of Things (IoT) is the key to establishing a high quality ecosystem. This study developed an ip multimedia subsystem (IMS) IoT architecture for ecosystem applications. The proposed mechanism groups attach request signaling by agent-based operations to reduce network congestion and to enhance service quality. The Electronic Product Code Information Services (EPCIS) platform is implemented and evaluated in a field trial. Performance analyses of the proposed architecture confirm that it can achieve a high-quality ecosystem in terms of power consumption and network performance with minimal loss of communication power.

The ip-based Internet of Things refers to the pervasive interactions of smart objects and people enabling new applications by means of ip protocols. An application scenario is a Smart City in which the city infrastructure, cars, and people exchange information to enable new services. ip protocols, such as ipv6, TCP and HTTP will be further complemented by ipv6 over Low power Wireless Personal Area Networks and Constrained Application Protocol currently in development in IETF. Security and privacy are a must for the ip-based IoTs in order to ensure its acceptance. However, mobility, limited bandwidth, and resource-constrained devices pose new challenges and require for a sound and efficient security architecture. In particular, dynamic association of mobile smart objects and the management of keys in large-scale networks remain an open challenge. In this context, we propose a flexible security architecture based on the Host Identity Protocol and multimedia Internet KEYing protocols allowing for secure network association and key management. Hip - based on asymmetric-key cryptography - ensures unambiguous thing identification, mobility support, as well as a lightweight and secure method for network association. In our solution, Hip is extended with MIKEY capabilities to provide enhanced key management using polynomials, which allow to generate pair wise keys with any node based on its identity. This combination of protocols and crypto-algorithms ensures both strong security and very good performance as shown by our implementation and presents clear advantages compared with other alternatives.

In this paper, we present a thermal-aware mapping algorithm based on genetic algorithm that automatically maps ip cores onto 3D Mesh Network-on-Chip (NoC) architecture, which mainly takes the temperature deviation into account. In order to verify the efficiency of the algorithm, we applied our algorithm on various multimedia benchmark applications, and evaluated the performance and temperature with Nirgam and HotSpot. The result shows that, the deviation of temperature between nodes is reduced by 35% on average in our algorithm compared with random mapping, and the peak temperature is reduced by 13% on average, such that the elimination of hotspots and equilibrium of temperature are achieved with better performance.

On one hand, IMS are a research area that has been gaining attention from the research community. It aims to provide cellular access to all Internet services. It is a control architecture on the top of the ip layer whose goal is dependent on the provision of the Quality of Service (QoS), integrated services and fair charging scheme throughout standard interfaces. On the other hand, VANETs are a new communication paradigm that enables the wireless communication between vehicles moving with high speeds, as well as the vehicles and the road side equipments found along the roads. This opened the door to develop several new applications like traffic engineering, traffic management, dissemination of emergency information to avoid critical situations, comfort and entertainment and other user applications. Moreover, VANETs are sub-class of Mobile Ad-hoc Networks; the performance of the communication depends on how better the routing takes place in the network. This work proposes a presence-based architecture for the integration of VANETs with the IMS in the presence of WSNs too. The presence of the middleware is used to make an instantaneous awareness of the VANETs' changes as well as the IMS format and to select the best delivery strategy between the two architectures.

The ip multimedia subsystem (IMS) is a basis for a significant new architecture which offers network operators the opportunity to expand their services, by integrating voice and multimedia communications and delivering them into new environments with new purposes. Basically, the IMS is an overlay network on top of ip layer that uses Session Initiation Protocol (Sip) as the primary signaling mechanism. Sip works at the application layer in ip networks. It is thus faced to not only the ip-networks security issues, but also to new issues which are related to the Sip protocol directly. Consequently, using IMS bears several new security challenges. This paper presents the most relevant Sip-related security vulnerabilities and threats, and the implementation and simulation test bed to experiment two versions of the Sip Asterisk software to emphasize these threats. The different security mechanisms that can be deployed to overcome the Sip security issues while putting emphasis the most important ones are discussed. Afterwards, the authors propose adaptable solutions to the Sip threats already identified for a specific service (access information from anywhere) in IMS context. Finally, conclusions are drawn and some perspectives are introduced to improve the security of multimedia applications.

ip multimedia subsystem (IMS) is a novel architecture, which is the basis for the new network architecture for future mobile applications incorporating voice, video and many other multimedia services. It is also the ultimate goal for the development of ALL-ip network, which is supported and developed by China Mobile many other famous operators all over the world. IMS is an overlay network on top of ip that utilizes Sip (Session Initiation Protocol) as the primary signaling mechanism. Because of its ip based architecture, IMS faces many new security challenges both in core network layer and application layer. Therefore, this paper provides an overview of the IMS architecture and presents some researches and discussions on the relevant security challenges. © 2012 IEEE.

The ip multimedia subsystem (IMS) is one of the key components of third generation (3G) networks, while Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are an emerging type of networks formed by a set of distributed sensor nodes that collaborate to monitor physical and environmental conditions. By integrating the sensing capabilities of WSNs in the IMS, a rich set of contextual information can be exploited to provide new and personalized multimedia services to IMS users. We have previously proposed a presence-based WSNs/IMS integration architecture, and discussed its design and implementation aspects. In this paper, we focus on the aspects needed for the practical deployment of this architecture. An enhanced IMS business model is proposed for the resulting sensors-enabled IMS environment, and several important support functions are elaborated, including: a two-level identification scheme, a charging model, security and information access control mechanisms, as well as WSN gateways' dynamic discovery alternatives.

Mobile users are increasingly demanding multimedia content created specifically or at least tailored to cater for their needs and preferences. In this scope, context-sensitive converged network requires technologies beyond-standards to allow designing personalized multi-user service applications over heterogeneous communication systems. The Context Casting (C-CAST) project designed a context-sensitive converged network architecture to support personalized multi-user sessions with Quality of Service (QoS) guaranteed towards group of multi-homed users simultaneously, and in their wireless network technologies. However, the per-flow driven signalling approach of Legacy C-CAST introduces performance penalties since the signalling load exponentially increases with the number of flow admissions. Thus, this paper proposes the Advanced C-CAST, which re-architects the Legacy C-CAST with over-provisioning centric network resource control to improve performance and reliability. The evaluation of Advanced C-CAST demonstrate its benefits against Legacy C-CAST by optimizing overall networking costs (signalling load and latency) while keeping users with best quality perception (packet loss and propagation delay) experience.

In the "Youtube Era", mobile consumption of video, such as Video on Demand (VoD) and User Generated Content (UGC), has been steadily increasing. However, mobile networks are showing to be unprepared for such phenomenal traffic volume, whereas the devices' multiple interfaces are being exploited to address this problem. As such, the interest in offloading techniques has significantly increased, not only at access level, but also at ip layer - boosting solutions based on Distributed Mobility Management (DMM) technologies. Connectivity management taking into account different applications requirements and multiple interfaces calls for a cross-layer solution, where IEEE 802.21 Media Independent Handover (MIH) may take a crucial role. In this paper, we describe an architecture for the support of UGC over the upcoming mobile networks using DMM and IEEE 802.21 concepts. We develop two entities, the Connection Manager and Flow Manager, for managing the connections throughout all the mobility session for either video producers or consumers. We implemented a real testbed in which we collect throughput and packet loss statistics on usage scenarios. The provided results show how the Connection Manager can be used to automatically take advantage of multiple interfaces and how the Flow Manager can be used to trigger multicast context transfer, with added performance results.

ip multimedia subsystem (IMS) is defined by 3GPP/3GPP2 and has become as a major part of the next-generation networks (NGN) service delivery platform. IMS provides convergence of two most successful communication paradigms - data networks (the Internet) and cellular networks on ip based infrastructure. Such platform allows an easy development of new value added and multimedia services. Open architecture of IMS brings big challenges in privacy and security. The 3GPP standards already specify such security solutions like authentication, key agreement and Transport Layer Security (TLS), but IMS is still vulnerable to several attacks in their services, like Voip or multimedia conferences. There is still a risk to flooding attacks, DoS and DDoS attacks, because IMS used protocols (Session Initiation Protocol, Diameter Protocol, Media Streaming and Internet protocol) are fully opened and can be easy accessed from intruders. This paper focuses on a possibility to minimize the potential risks of IMS, by integrating intrusion detection and prevention system (IDS/ipS). The experimental tests are performed on OpenIMS Core on different type of flooding, spoofing and DoS attacks.
