With the development of Internet technology, the demand of interconnection between fixed and mobile networks and different heterogeneous networks is further enhanced. ipmultimediasubsystem (IMS) is an important way to solve the convergence of mobile and fixed networks, and introduce the triple convergence of voice, data and video services. This paper summarizes and analyzes the development and research status of IMS networking, and then analyzes the basic theory and network architecture of IMS in detail. Finally, based on the practical application background requirements, from the intra-domain networking and cross-domain networking, the disaster recovery and backup optimization scheme is proposed. Combined with the specific IMS network construction scene, the IMS single communication station and multiple communication station network construction are designed and introduced in detail, which gives a typical practical application background presentation and sufficient theoretical guidance for IMS networking.

The purpose of this work was to assess a real-time testbed scenario using the Software Defined Radio (SDR) technology and the USRP (Universal Software Radio Peripheral) device to provide Voice-over-LTE (VoLTE) call service and grant user internet connectivity in an initial 5G NSA (Non Stand Alone) deployment network. The implemented mobile network considers a 5G mobile network that is composed of both NSA 5G and IMS (ipmultimediasubsystem) architectures cores. The deployment network considers a soft initial transition from 4G to 5G NSA. In addition, the contribution of this article is to achieve that each element from different architectures is able to communicate to each other and establish the bearer and stream for each ip service. Furthermore, the evaluation of jitter, throughput and RTT delay metrics are presented for a VoLTE call between two devices connected to the deployment SDR 5G NSA network.

The ipmultimediasubsystem (IMS) refers to the standard for a telecommunication system that controls multimedia services accessing different networks. Not only the IMS but other telecommunications networks are also required to operate continuously. In addition, any system error can lead to massive losses in revenue and productivity. Therefore, testing and quality control task has an important role in telecommunications networks, and it requires an efficient method to detect any inherent errors and failures. To facilitate the testing process, a solution using the test automation tool Appium is proposed. The Appium framework is mainly used to validate mobile browsers and mobile applications with UI. If the IMS can be implemented with the Appium framework, the burdensome testing tasks can be eased. Therefore, we developed an automated model in which the Appium framework can help in testing functions of the IMS. Our model contains some new features added to the basic function of the framework and these features are designed and developed specially for testing the IMS services. This proposed solution not only reduces the time and labor in testing but also can be applied to other systems that are related to mobile phone services.

With the increase in content-based communication in applications such as the web, multimedia streaming, social media, Internet of things etc., the content-based communication paradigm, ICN in general and NDN architecture in particular, is becoming popular. Although NDN has proved to be a potential replacement for ip host-based Internet, inherent security threats such as Content Poisoning Attacks (CPAs) pose a severe threat to communication. At present, mobile network operators (MNO) need to improve Quality of Service (QoS) and Quality of Experience (QoE) of voice and video services to compete with over-the-top (OTT) Voice over ip (Voip) applications. For an MNO to be able to provide HD voice and video calls, is essential to use a dedicated ipmultimediasubsystem (IMS) network. The contribution of this paper is the analysis of measured data collected from real-time testbeds related to the fifth generation (5G) mobile network and then, computing the inter-Mean-Opinion-Score (iMOS) and QoS metrics for both 5G Voice over LTE (VoLTE) and Voice over New Radio (VoNR) services over IMS. Thus, there are evaluated QoS metrics throughout the communication stages among the User Equipment (UE) for the 5G Stand-Alone (SA) and 5G Non-Stand-Alone (NSA) networks. The obtained results show how QoS metrics like jitter and delay impact the iMOS results. The obtained results satisfy the requirement for VoNR and 5G VoLTE which show iMOS values greater than 4 out of 5 where 5 represents the best quality. The results were obtained in a controlled environment laboratory, using specialized radio test stations with non-interference outdoor propagation signals and lower path loss since can be used as a reference for upcoming research.

Driven by the limitation of legacy network communications, recent years have seen a paradigm shift in network architecture, from the conventional TCP/ip towards Software Defined Networking (SDN). The main feature of SDN is to give more flexibility to the network by pushing control from forwarding devices into scalable centralized orchestration. This paradigm enables using forwarding storage and processing capacity for caching content at the network level. The objective of this study is to address the Quality of Experience (QoE) problems in video applications. To this end, we propose a network-assisted QoE-aware bitrate adaptation algorithm that works in cooperation with MPEG-DASH’s proposed SAND technology and virtualized in-network caching function (denotes vDANE). In the proposed framework, client quality adaptation can be assisted by vDANE according to network bandwidth and availability of the appropriate segment/bitrate stored in vDANEs hosted by OpenFlow switches. Simulation results indicate that the proposed method can improve QoE parameters compared with other solutions.
