The ip multimedia subsystem (IMS) has brought us feasibilities by separating control functions from bearer and services. Multi-access technology enables us connecting the IMS core by kinds of network such as wireless, wire-line network and Internet. By IMS Service Delivery Platform (SDP) richness of services have been developed and deployed into realization through its common protocols and interfaces. Push-to-talk over Cellular (PoC) as the outstanding half-duplex Voice over ip (Voip) application service enables traditional walkie-talkie service over mobile network.. In this paper we will focus on the advantage of PoC service and PoC architecture firstly, and then describes the session flows of PoC service and its simple simulation. At last we make some conclusions.

Interconnection of wired Internet and wireless mobile ad hoc networks, called Integrated Internet-MANET enables communication between wired and wireless peers. Many strategies exist which provide Internet connectivity to the mobile ad hoc network nodes through one or more Internet gateways. Mobile nodes need to be registered with an Internet gateway in order to communicate across the Internet. A key issue in such strategies is to distribute the Internet bound traffic across the Internet gateways evenly. The problem of Internet gateway load balancing has been addressed by researchers in interesting ways. In this paper, we present a review of the gateway load balancing solutions under common parameters. In the second part of the paper, a new gateway load balancing strategy based on a load balanced routing protocol called Modified AODV is proposed and is simulated using the ns-2 simulator.

Fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) is the term used to describe a wide range of mobile services that converge elements of fixed communications infrastructure to complement the core mobile service. ip multimedia subsystem (IMS) is the approach towards merging the fixed and mobile worlds together with the Internet. It enables the efficient provision of an open set of highly integrated multimedia services, combining Web browsing, instant messaging, presence, Voip and multimedia content delivery etc. over a heterogeneous access network and technologies. Unfortunately, the adoption, support and interest on IMS are still protracted among various players such as operators, service providers, device manufacturers and developers. We believe these players were generally trapped in a vicious circle and hence felt uncertain on adopting IMS, besides having to accommodate the high setup cost, lack of proven business models and further was overshadowed by the web technologies. As the national research institute in Malaysia, we have taken the challenge to set up the OpenFMCtrade lab in Malaysia as to break the vicious circle and to develop an IMS Center of Excellence (CoE) ecosystem through opening up an IMS testbed for all parties to conduct their application development, R&D experiments and interoperability tests. This paper describes the objectives and benefits of establishing our OpenFMCtrade lab, our approach to break the vicious circle, our proposed IMS ecosystem program, the details on provisioning of lab equipments/components, and network topology.

Because of recent advances in both client devices and wireless communications, industry has started to look at the potentially relevant market of Location Based Services (LBSs). ip multimedia subsystem (IMS) and IMS-based presence service are putting together and standardizing the needed support for location data dissemination in industry-level LBS applications. However, the deployment of presence-based LBSs is still very challenging since frequent location updates have to be timely delivered to the (potentially many) subscribed LBS applications. The paper proposes a novel presence service solution with two original extensions to address the above challenging scalability issues: a load-balancing model working at both IMS infrastructure and service levels; a novel component to automatically de/activate new IMS infrastructure/presence service nodes by need, also by dynamically redistributing the incoming load. The prototype of this enhanced IMS presence service, fully-compliant with existing IMS standards, has been deployed and validated in our university campus wireless infrastructure: the reported performance results show improved scalability and limited load-balancing costs.

With the advent of future convergent systems consisting of an integration of different heterogeneous mobile and fixed technologies, the interconnection of mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) to infrastructured ip networks (Integrated MANET) is becoming of paramount importance. Integrating MANET with infrastructured ip networks, such as the Internet, can improve communication in mobile ad hoc networks, as well as enrich their users with multimedia applications through the realization of session set up and management protocol functionality. Two approaches of the deployment of session initiation protocol (Sip) in integrated MANET viz. centralized and quasi-decentralized approaches are presented in this paper. We have described the architecture of both approaches and evaluated its performance.

Presence services are not widespread because there is little interest in a closed presence application in the ip multimedia subsystem/next-generation network (IMS/NGN). A representational state transfer (REST) API for a presence service in IMS/NGN that can be easily used in a Web application has been proposed to encourage the use of presence services in IMS/NGN. Two problems with the conventional method for a presence REST API are presence authorization in Web applications and increased Sip processing within the IMS. This paper describes these problems in detail, proposes functions and analysis for solving them, and presents a prototype application.

As revenues from voice services continue to fall, telecommunication operators have begun to develop and acquire new services in an attempt to generate new revenue streams and to avoid losing customers to third party service providers. One such service that many, if not all, operators are investigating is Internet Protocol Television (ipTV). ipTV provides broadcast television channels as well as Video on Demand (VoD) content to subscribers, delivering the video content using the Internet Protocol (ip). The UCT Advanced ipTV v2.0 system is an open source implementation of an ipTV system based on ETSI TISPAN standards. The proposed system also incorporates multimedia content adaptation methods in order to adapt video to meet varying client terminal devices and access network characteristics. This paper describes the history of the project followed by the relevant ETSI TISPAN standards. It then goes on to discuss the software architecture of the developed system and provides results of several transcoding tests.

Phishing is a social engineering mechanism to steal the user's credentials which are then used for identity theft leading to financial benefit. Currently majority of Phishing attacks are very unsophisticated as they focus on collecting just the credentials and do not try to validate in real time whether the received credentials are correct. It is obvious that next generation Phishing attacks will, in real time, try to check the credentials and also try to exploit the same. It is easy for a Phisher to behave as a man-in-the middle (MITM) between the user and the targeted site which is being phished. The problem with MITM attack is all the heuristics like monitoring domain name for special characters, using blacklists, page analysis etc , fail to restrict the Phisher. One of the significant literature available in this area i.e., PwdHash, which is successful for attacks when the user is on a URL other than genuine website. In this paper, we have proposed and implemented a novel approach to solve MITM over SSL which uses the genuine website URL. To tackle such attacks we propose hashing the user password with the public key of the server's digital certificate. This approach beats the MITM, since the MITM receives the hash of the original password which cannot be reused. We prove our concept with a browser plugin.

This paper describes a novel media distribution model for headphone based spatialized audio conferences. In contrast to existing models, our approach permits high quality spatialized audio conferencing across low power terminals, without the requirement for centralized spatial processing functionality. The model is flexible in terms of the spatial processing techniques, though we focus upon one particular implementation which employs accurate binaural room impulse response (BRIR) filtering. Our model operates by performing a single binaural filter operation upon each user's audio at source, before encoding and transmitting the binaural signal to a centralized mixing location. Since only centralized mixing is required, this model can easily be implemented within the ip multimedia subsystem (IMS) using existing IMS components. A discussion on codec selection for this model is also offered. Finally, the impact upon network load for our proposed approach is analysed, using a traffic model based upon a hypothetical core network partition.

The diversity of terminals used by the user to access resources (personal digital assistant, mobile phone, etc.) using several types of networks (wireless, local, etc.) generates a growing need to adapt services dynamically to the user's context. In this article, we present our architecture that aims at adapting content and presentation of services to the user's context. We realize the content adaptation based on a new data modeling methodology. This methodology aims to take into account the different structures associated with the same data allowing a data representation in several viewpoints. The presentation adaptation is based on an automatic generation process of the interfaces service code. The context in our architecture is presented by a generic model for the user and the service. The adaptation process is detailed based on an e-learning scenario.
