With the prevalence of the Internet, we have been able to cross the geographical barriers, enjoy the convenience brought by information exchanges, and develop the unprecedented applications, such as the most typical example, e-commerce. NSS facing EC will be a very important subsystem during the process of EC development. This paper introduces the current research situation about NSS, stresses on the whole system architecture and key technologies, sets forth solution scheme about some important problem, such as multiparty cooperation text technology and inter-stream synchronization. Our goal is to develop a NSS prototype and to test its feasibility in the E-Marketplaces. It also creates a user-friendly interface for Graphic User's Interface (GUI). The implementation prototype system demonstrates excellent performance and the system can be easily implemented in a large bargain database of the EC marketplace for wide accessibility.

When a mobile node roams to another network/subnet, new resource reservation has to be made between the sender and receiver. If enough resources are not available, the Quality of Service may be disrupted and the connection may fail. If resources are reserved indiscriminately, then most of them would be unused and performance degradation would be the result. We would like to propose a pre-authenticated and adaptive micro-mobility management architecture in ip networks. We use pre-authentication to hasten the handoff process. Also the mobility predictor block used will help in reserving the resources aptly. The packets are generally classified based on the ToS field in ipv4 (or traffic class and the flow label fields in ipv6). Here we focus more on the special case of wireless local area networks (WLANs) installation within a building or in a restricted campus. In this paper, we propose a fast and adaptive ip micro mobility management scheme with mobility prediction for WLAN nodes. We also present some basic simulation on WLAN mobile node roaming. © 2006 IEEE.

From charging for QoS to charging for QoE: Internet economics in the era of next generation multimedia networks

Over the past years, telecommunications as a research area has grown far beyond pure communications engineering and today covers the entire economic value chain up to the end customer. As a consequence, "Internet Economics" has been established as a new and promising research area of its own, aiming at a fresh perspective on familiar problems. The basic idea of this interdisciplinary approach is to understand communication networks as economical rather than technical systems, and thus to describe and solve networking issues through the use of economic concepts and techniques. This tutorial gives an introduction into basic notions, concepts and results of this highly interdisciplinary field. We start with summarizing the fundamental framework, focusing on central concepts from operations research, game theory and micro-economics, and introduce basic concepts like equilibria, efficiency, competition models and fairness. This serves as starting point for a comprehensive review of traditional charging schemes like congestion pricing, smart market and Progressive Second-Price auctions, Paris Metro Pricing, effective bandwidth pricing, Cumulus Pricing and the Contract-Balancing Mechanism. The second part of the tutorial starts with a brief overview on relevant charging protocols and architectures, with a special emphasis on the 3GPP ip multimedia subsystem (IMS) as a promising candidate for an All-ip Next Generation Network architecture. Finally, we discuss the imminent paradigm shift from charging for Quality-of-Service (QoS) to charging for Quality-of-User Experience (QoE) and present two recent proposals as important examples of current research trends in this stimulating area. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2007.

-The evolution strategy of NGN laboratory towards the converged networks based on ip multimedia subsystem (IMS) as trends and aims for implementation of converged NGN network is presented in the article. This article describes actual implementation of NGN laboratory and future planned extensions and integration work for incorporating IMS core elements to our laboratory as unified service control subsystem. Existing NGN solution includes applications and our experiences with integrations of applications and their usability.

A scalable SIMD/MIMD mixed-mode parallel processor architecture called XC core is proposed to meet the high and diverse performance requirements of embedded multimedia applications. XC core supports both the SIMD and MIMD computing models at low hardware cost by dynamically reconfiguring itself into datapath circuits or control circuits, i.e., trading off between performance and flexibility. A control processor is used to broadcast instructions to a whole SIMD PE (Processing Element) array or to a part of it while assigning a separate program to each PU (Processing Unit), that is mainly composed of the hardware resources of several PEs. RTL synthesis results show that area overhead for reconfiguration is merely 10% of the total area. Benchmark results show that the SIMD mode is effectively achieving high performance towards the regular and massive data parallelism portions of applications, while the MIMD mode enables acceleration of the remaining part of applications whose implementation using a pure highly parallel SIMD architecture would otherwise be impossible. The results show that the XC core design is competitive against more complex processors, with respect to both its cost efficiency as a highly parallel SIMD processor and its flexibility as a multicore MIMD processor, against a wide range of applications. This paper presents a novel architecture for providing converged ip-based TV (ipTV) services specified by ETSI TISPAN standardisation for ipTV in ongoing NGN release 2 specifications. The described ipTV architecture is based on utilisation of the ip multimedia subsystem concept used by NGN architectural framework and its adaptation to provide the ipTV specific functionalities and services. Using the foundation provided by the IMS based architecture, we propose a new functional architecture to enhance the functionalities and features needed for scalable converged networks, flexible media delivery and advanced ipTV service scenarios. The proposed architecture, leveraging on the FMC architecture that operators may deploy to provide ipTV service across different access networks in future deployments (mobile, wireless, fixed) has prototypically been implemented in the ScaleNet* demonstrator testbed. This paper analyses in detail the main principles for such a converged reference architecture. The paper also presents the ipTV service scenario prototype called Click-to-multimedia which shows some basic features and advantages implemented on top of the presented architecture by prototyping demo applications as proof of concept reference.

As a standardized NGN architecture, the 3rd generation partnership project ip multimedia subsystem (IMS) defines standard service capabilities and interfaces, as well as a common ip-based infrastructure, which enable operators to introduce new services in an efficient and flexible way. In order to exploit the capabilities offered by an IMS operator, multimedia application developers face a business challenge to create applications which can run on a variety of user devices, and possibly adapt to various network conditions and user preferences. Our goal was to identify common generic functionality related to session-level QoS signaling for advanced multimedia applications and to design a high-level application programming interface (API), which invokes this functionality. The paper describes the dynamic service adaptation model on which the proposed API is based, the API specification, and its implementation in Java. A prototype multimedia application featuring a 3D networked game provides an example of using the API

ip multimedia subsystem (IMS) is a standardized service control overlay meant to offer rich ip multimedia services to the users in different networks. However, IMS service invocation as specified by 3 GPP encounters multiple issues and ambiguities including " service conflict " and " service composition " management. In this paper, we highlight these issues by focusing on the following question: How should IMS interact with multiple services during a single ip multimedia session while 1) detecting and resolving potential conflicts between these services and 2) ensuring the interoperability and cooperation between these services? Based on the requirements and characteristics of Next Generation Network (NGN) service architecture, we propose architectural and functional improvements to the service invocation mechanism of IMS in order to answer to this question.

There is much debate today on what should be the architecture of the next generation of networks. In this paper, we address this question from the perspective of applications. We examine current and emerging applications to identify the factors that lead to a successful deployment. In addition to new computing models, we also examine trends in the mainstream information technology and telecom service provider industry, namely, Service Oriented architecture and ip multimedia subsystem. We identify requirements of, and then present some views on what constitutes the future application-oriented networks architecture, and finally we propose a new model for future application-oriented networks and we discuss the research challenges.
