Declustering have attracted a lot of interest over the last few years. Except for a few cases it is not possible to find declustering schemes that are optimal for all spatial range queries. As a result of this, most of the research on declustering have focused on finding schemes with low worst case additive error. However, additive error based schemes have many limitations including lack of progressive guarantees and existence of small nonoptimal queries. In this paper, we take a different approach and investigate schemes that provide progressive guarantees. We investigate the threshold k such that all spatial range queries with /spl les/ k buckets are optimal. By dividing a query into nonoverlapping rectangles each with /spl les/ k buckets the guarantees of threshold can be extended to larger queries. Theoretical analysis shows that threshold k is bounded above by N/2 for N-by-N declustering system with N disks. We propose a number-theoretic threshold algorithm. Experimental results show that proposed algorithm returns schemes with high threshold and low worst-case additive error.

In this paper we propose an on-line TDMA slot assignment/graph coloring algorithm for wireless sensor networks with the help of a mobile agent. It is known that graph coloring problem is NP-complete and several heuristics have been developed. Many of them are centralized algorithms and assume global knowledge of the network. We developed a mobile agent based slot assignment (MASA) algorithm in which a mobile agent moves from node to node and assigns a slot to nodes using two-hop neighborhood information. MASA is close to degree based lower bound (d + 1). It requires d + 1 number of colors or slightly more than d + 1 number of colors depending upon the topology, where d is the maximum nodal degree of the graph.

Our work aims to address the challenging security issues in an important information infrastructure - large-scale and low-energy wireless actuator and sensor networks (WASN). Since WASNs have specific network constraints and data transmission requirements compared to general ad hoc networks and other wireless/wired networks, the security issues need to be tackled accordingly. We propose to seamlessly integrate WASN security with a promising routing architecture that is scalable and energy-efficient. To protect from active attacks in mobile sensor networks, we propose two-level re-keying/re-routing schemes that can not only adapt to a dynamic network topology but also securely update keys for each data transmission session. Moreover, to provide the security for the in-networking processing such as data aggregation in WASNs, we define a multiple-key management scheme in conjunction with the proposed tree-ripple-zone (TRZ) routing architecture.

As more and more organizations and companies increasingly outsource system development projects offshore the complexity of management and support increases proportionally. Traditional software development support tools are no longer sufficient to support a geographically and culturally diversified development team. Furthermore, to increase the chance of success, clients and stakeholders should be invited to participate in every step of the development. There is a need of a software development support portal (SDSP) to tie all the pieces together. In this paper, we propose a software development support portal that is designed and implemented based on a commercially available peer-to-peer (P2P) platform.

In this paper, we propose a methodology based on genetic programming to automatically generate hardware designs of substitution boxes necessary for many cryptosystems such as DES encryption system. We aim at evolving minimal hardware specifications, which minimize both space (i.e. required gate number), response time (i.e. encryption and decryption time) and dissipated power. We compare our results against existing and well-known designs, which were produced by human designers using conventional methods.

With the rapid increase of learning resources, the contradiction between learning content intelligent properties and its share and reuse becomes an outstanding event. In order to solve the problem, the authors probed into a way that is to integrate the DRM technologies and learning technology standards into the development of learning content management system. The authors also designed a novel online management system for broadcasting environments of virtual classroom or courseware on demand based on a browser/server framework, which carries out learning content management for reuse, share, interoperation and security. Particular emphases was placed on the strategies of integration of digital rights management and flexible commercial model by license services into applications, management, exchange and trade of Web-based learning content and try to solve the problem between reuse and protection.

Two main technologies that stand out for the implementation of enterprise applications and Web services are Sun Microsystems' Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) and Microsoft's .NET framework. These two are competing to become the platform of choice for enterprise application and Web services developers. Each platform provides specific development tools and APIs to assist developers. The purpose of this research is to provide an unbiased comparison of the two platforms based on their features and services offered from the viewpoint of developers in the context of building an enterprise or Web application from design right through to deployment.

In this paper, we present techniques to recover useful information from disk drives that are used to store user data. The main idea is to use a logging mechanism to record the modifications to each disk block, and then employ fast algorithms to reconstruct the contents of a file (or a directory) as it existed sometime in the past. Such a consistent snapshot of a file may be used to determine whether a given file ever existed on disk, to undelete a file that was deleted long ago, or to obtain a timeline of activities on a file. This can also be used to validate that a file with given contents existed at some time in the past or to refute a claim that a file existed in a time interval. information gathered using these consistent snapshots can be used as valuable digital evidence.

Verifying physical presence of a neighbor in wireless ad hoc networks is one of the key components in developing protocols resilient to replay-based attacks. For this, we first consider RTT-based and power-based approaches. We then couple them to design an effective neighbor verification protocol (NVP). In theory, we always see some room for replay-based attacks. However, our proposed protocol significantly limits the effectiveness of replay-based attacks by restricting the range where they might be launched and thus makes them practically impossible.

The business of content providers is being threatened by technology advances in hardware, software and IP networks resulting in an increasing amount of illegal copies available online as well as offline. Digital rights management standards are being developed for the digital content and digital watermarking, a popular technique for content authentication and forgery prevention is viewed as an enabling technology to protect distributed content from unauthorized reuse, or reuse with inadequate credit. This paper establishes the role of an administrative body, by the name of Central Watermarking Body, in sharing the responsibilities of the content providers, in securing the genuine content and in protecting the rights of the customers by allowing them to judge if the content they have paid for, is genuine. The paper also highlights the objectives, technological details, the economic feasibility, the issues pertaining to the practical implementation and the limitations of the watermark based DRM model.
