Laser acoustics refers to the phenomenon wherein lasers interact with water to generate sound waves.. Laser acoustics can be used to achieve wireless communication across media. Due to the physical mechanisms underlying laser acoustics, when the laser power density reaches the threshold of optical breakdown, the conversion efficiency is also significantly high. To ensure sufficient transmission distance, lasers with higher power densities are typically utilized. However, the repetition frequency of these lasers is often low, which significantly constrains the transmission rate. The information capacity of a single pulse can be increased to some extent through pulse position modulation. During transmission, when the position of the preceding pulse is biased backward and that of the subsequent pulse is biased forward, a "back-to-back" phenomenon occurs. This phenomenon causes the effective transmission frequency to be substantially lower than the repetition frequency, thereby significantly affecting the transmission rate. To address the issue of low transmission rates in cross-media communication, we propose a laser acoustic cross-media pulse position modulation technique based on 8B/10B coding. We employ 8B/10B coding to equalize the number of 0s and 1s in the data. We utilize eight distinct pulse positions to transmit three bits of data per laser operation. We employ a specific relationship between the modulation pulse positions and the corresponding data, along with adjacent pulse symmetric coding and the implementation of idle codes. This configuration induces the coding to produce continuous 0s or 1s during the "back-to-back" phenomenon. Clearly, after balancing the number of 0s and 1s, the encoding will not produce continuous 0s or 1s. With this configuration, if the position of the preceding pulse appears in the last three positions, the subsequent pulse will not appear in the first three positions.
