Network coding can improve the transmission performance and resource utilization of the network. However, in some networks, destination node has the limited arithmetic capability and storage capacity. The decoding operation will further consume the scarce resources of the node. It is not conducive to the enhancement of the network performance. This paper will propose a new decoding scheme of network coding that decoding operation in the destination node transfers to the source node to maximize the utilization of network resources. The simulation results show that the improved decoding scheme can effectively reduce the load of decoding in the destination node.

During the last decade, new mobile multimedia applications have emerged for mobile and network multimedia, wireless multimedia communication, audio/video teleconferencing, remote assistance, digital storage systems, secure audio transmission and so on. In order to meet these requirements, tremendous research efforts have been put in the development of efficient digital audio coding technologies. In China, AVS-M audio standard is such an audio technology targeting for mobile multimedia applications which is developed and owned by China Audio and Video coding Standard Workgroup. In this paper, AVS-M audio standard is discussed by revealing the technical principles of the en- and decoding, the standardization situation and the suitability of the codec in relation to technology available, economical feasibility and the market needs. Finally it concludes with a brief discussion of future research directions.

Recently, network coding and channel coding are widely applied for scalable video coding in order to achieve the reliable transmission of multimedia data. Network coding as hierarchical network coding (HNC) provides unequal erasure protection for scalable layers and addresses the process of decoding layer by layer from higher to less importance. Similar with that scheme, expanding window fountain (EWF) code is designed for flexible and efficient solution of real-time scalable video multicast. In this paper, we investigate the performance of EWF coding and HNC for scalable video coding over lossy packet networks. The experimental results show that EWF coding achieves better performance than HNC in both good and bad channels.

This paper presents the mastering signal processing with the residual coding scheme in spatial audio object coding. The proposed method can eliminate the difference between the original down-mix signal and the compensated down-mix signal and enhance the sound quality, successfully. Experimental result shows that the proposed method can greatly improve the performance of the original mastering signal processing and the sound quality of the proposed method is almost same with that of the output signal decoded with the original down-mix signal.
