This paper introduces an innovative method for low-complexity lossy source coding, according to duality between source and channel coding principles. Based on the Hamming code, we design hybrid Hamming code by utilizing the duality-based method. In the design process, it is shown that the syndrome of the hybrid Hamming code can be utilized as a complementary code to improve the reconstruction via the successive refinement link. This paper presents results of the simulations conducted to make a comparison in bit error rate (BER) performance between the hybrid Hamming code and the hybrid majority voting (HMV) code under different signal to noise ratio (SNR) in standalone links. Performance of hybrid Hamming code is also demonstrated in the case the coded sequences are transmitted over the refinement link.

Block matching algorithms (BMA) have been widely used as standard motion estimation (ME) techniques in video. coding practice. In this paper, we present an iterative but analytical motion estimation algorithm with attractive computational efficiency. Our work can be viewed as generalization of the celebrated work of Lucas and Kanade [1] on iterative image registration into the wavelet space. We will demonstrate that block-based motion estimation can be performed efficiently in a coarse-to-fine fashion by propagating the estimate across the scale in the wavelet space. Our solution often takes a fraction of the computations required by the conventional BMA methods and reaches comparable MSE performance of prediction residues (fractional-pel motion accuracy is achieved due to the analytical nature of the proposed scheme). In spite of the iteration in the proposed scheme, it converges fast especially with a good initial estimate passed on from the low resolution. Our new ME scheme is particularly useful to the speed-up of implementing a new class of wavelet-based scalable video coders.

information Centric Networking (ICN) achieves high efficient via in-networking cache and direct object retrieval, i.e., content can be replicated and cached at any network nodes. However, the content is out of owner's control after published. With access control issues becoming more prominent, we propose to combine the blockchain with traditional access control schemes in this paper. As all we know, blockchain has become one of the most popular technologies in recent years. This technology has been used in various cryptographic currency, such as Bitcoin, Litecoin and so on. Due to its decentralized and untempered paradigm, using blockchain in access control is an ideal scheme. We utilize xor-based encoding/decoding scheme to realize fast encryption and decryption, which would save content provider plenty of time. Especially, when the content provider is offline, our scheme could realize that legal users also can obtain decryption information related contents. The security analysis proves that our access control framework is pretty safe.

As the high-speed vehicular node passes the coverage area of a road side unit in the vehicular ad hoc network, it may not be able to receive all content information broadcast by the RSU during the short contact duration with the RSU. Hence, when the vehicular node leaves the coverage area of the RSU, it has to adopt the cooperative content distribution approach to share its received content pieces, which are encoded by the network codingtechnology, with all neighboring nodes. However, these approaches do not consider that vehicular nodes in reality may have different degrees of selfishness and interests on various types of content information, which in turn hinders those selfish nodes from sharing their contents with others. In this paper, we will propose the SocialCode scheme, adopting the content bitmap, for each node to calculate the number of different network-coded content pieces, its corresponding re-broadcast priority and the correct number of re-encoded NC content pieces with all neighbor nodes first. SocialCode then classifies vehicular nodes into four types and further integrates corresponding credit-based incentive protocols to stimulate nodes' willingness to re-broadcast their content pieces. Finally simulation results show that SocialCode outperforms over traditional NC-based cooperative content distribution schemes, if they adopt the credit-based incentive protocols without considering node selfishness and interests.

In this paper, a multilevel cross-layer feedback based adaptive video coding scheme is proposed to enhance the robustness of the wireless video transmission. Two level cross-layer feedbacks are developed in this work to achieve timely and accurate channel-aware: one is the feedback from physical (PHY) to applying (APP) layer, named PHY-APP feedback, which is used to get the available bandwidth of the physical channel using the feedback mechanism of adaptive modulation and coding (AMC);The second one is the feedback from data link (DL) layer to APP layer: an agent is deployed at the DL layer to predict the possible frame losses by analyzing the DL layer's automatic repeat request (ARQ), and then the frame losses information is sent to APP layer for proper reference picture selection (RPS). By exploiting the two-level feedback, the methods of rate control and RPS are combined to achieve channel-adaptive video coding. Experimental results show that: compared to the existed scheme without the multilevel feedback, the proposed method can get a significant improvement in Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) for the wireless video transmission.

Wireless Sensor networks (WSNs) require energy-efficient and robust communication protocols. Cooperative MIMO transmission is one of the new solutions. In this paper, we propose an Energy-efficient Cluster-based Cooperative MIMO transmission scheme using Network coding, termed as ECCM-NC. Network coding algorithm is applied to reduce the energy and time consumption in intra-cluster information exchange procedure. An optimization model is developed to find the optimum cooperative nodes number, clusters number and transmission rates. Simulation shows that tremendous energy saving is possible with application of network coding and judicious choice of designed protocol parameters even considering the local circuit energy cost and STBC training overhead.
