The in-depth understanding of the topography and geomorphologic features of the seabed constitutes the basis for human to fully understand the ocean, effectively explore the ocean and scientifically and rationally utilize the ocean. Our focus is on the optimization of line layout of multi-beam sounding technology in seafloor topographic mapping, aiming to explore the reasonable layout strategy under the dual objectives of ensuring comprehensive coverage and efficient measurement[1]. As a key tool to obtain basic spatial geographic information of water area, multi-beam sounding system has a direct influence on the selection of direction and location of survey lines, especially in the face of complex seabed topography, the change of strip coverage between adjacent survey lines may lead to regional missing survey phenomenon. Aiming at the overlapping rate control problem in the layout of survey lines, our research uses the sine theorem and other geometric principles to establish the coverage width and overlapping rate model under the specific situation that the survey line is along the isobath direction, and reveals the law that the coverage width of the multi-beam sounding system is positively correlated with the water depth under the condition of fixed survey line interval, and gives specific numerical results through empirical data. The paper further discusses the layout scheme of survey lines with optimal measurement efficiency, defines the area coverage index per unit slope length, and constructs the corresponding layout models for the two special terrain types projected as isosceles trapezoid and rectangular parallel to the isodepth line. Through the stepwise optimization calculation, it is found that the layout scheme based on trapezoidal projection cannot reach the effective solution when the overlap rate is set to 20% while meeting the requirement of full coverage. Urban traffic state estimation aims at providing accurate and reliable information about traffic flow characteristics, which can be used for urban traffic management. Traditional estimation approaches mainly use loop detectors and/or floating car data, which are labour- and cost-intensive. With the ongoing technological development in autonomous driving, more and more research focuses on the use of onboard sensor data. In this paper, a novel concept for the collection and utilization of traffic data is presented: Autonomous Vehicles as a Sensor. The proposed concept capitalizes on the advanced sensor technologies deployed in autonomous vehicles, particularly those employed in Mobility-on-Demand services, to collect link-level traffic states. These microscopic traffic states are further utilized by e.g., Mobility-on-Demand operators to estimate network-level traffic states. A first proof of concept was examined through a case study in a microscopic traffic simulation with a grid network and generic demand. The results demonstrate that both, moving and parked autonomous vehicles, can effectively contribute to the estimation of the macroscopic fundamental diagram. When the results from both are combined, the resulting estimation yields the most accurate fit compared to the ground truth. These findings underline the potential of the 'Autonomous Vehicles as a Sensor' concept for accurate and reliable traffic state estimation.

In today's urban landscapes, efficient traffic management is crucial for ensuring smooth vehicular movement and reducing congestion. Providentially, advancements in Deep learning has the potential to address this problem with various methods to implement adaptive traffic system. However, such solutions require large amounts of infrastructural expenditure to establish the connectivity of all intersections of a large road network. Although, such enormous investments have given only a few preliminary successes. In this paper, a cloud-based adaptive traffic control and management system that utilizes a set of Cloud services offered by a very well-known Cloud provider Amazon Web Services (AWS) such as Amazon Kinesis, a serverless flowing data service which streamlines the process of capturing, data processing and storing data streams, Amazon Rekognition, a high-powered video analysis service, for real-time detection and counting, Amazon Lambda and other services is proposed. This system can detect and count vehicles with more accuracy and optimizes the signal time by a custom-made algorithm to reduce overall travel time. This proposed system also helps emergency vehicles from being impassable by other vehicles during stop phase, reduce vehicular emission at intersections with minimal cost of setup.
