Within the scope of industry 5.0, mixed reality (MR) is an eminent technology for problem solving and process optimization. The present research aimed to assess how users perceive an augmented reality (AR) application for diagnosis and intervention on industrial equipment. 18 participants with 3 different professional and technological backgrounds (general users (GU), information technology users (SD) and human centered design experts (HF)) took part in this study. Generally, the developed system was valued as slightly positive and some improvement points were identified. The results also revealed differences in the perceived User Experience (UX) between different user profiles. Also, there are important differences in perception depending on the person's analysis experience, with less rigor for new users and higher rigor for people who work with human factors, for example. This reinforce the concept of user centered design and the importance to understand the human being in its relation with the novel user interface and tendency to new technologies. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

The developer's mechanism for finding substantial models, including models with different viewpoints, various iterations, and various implementations. Without an efficient reused mechanism, it can result in a system similar to the previous one, leading to duplicate artifacts and wasted time and money. The user interface, usually designed as part of a system integration effort, is described in general terms as part of the physical architecture and data management layers. Data Entry Form is one way to interact between users and applications. With Entry Forms, users can visualize and interact when storing data in tables in the database. In an application called Penguin, an Entry Form for Recording Entry Transactions and Classes is used to model database table designs. There is a connection between a User Interface Entry Form and a Class. It can be observed that every Data Entry activity in a Form will submit its data to the Class. There are text information extraction results in Entry From, which refers to visual usability tools to produce four documents (D1 to D4). In addition, extraction on Class produces four documents (D5 to D8) for the results of the highest suitability of text data obtained from Documents D3 and D6 with a value of 0.819 (Almost perfect). The recommendations for artifacts that can be reused are based on the highest validity values, namely 'Entry Form Income Category' (document D3) and 'Class Income Category Page' (document D6). © 2023 IEEE.

In order to find out the road sections that may have traffic safety hazards in the design stage of expressway, this study carried out the design of expressway safety evaluation system for the design stage. Based on the analysis of system requirements, requirements objectives and workflow, the safety evaluation system of highway design stage is designed, including database module, specification compliance review module, design consistency evaluation module, accident prediction module, map operation module and user operation module. In this study, a safety evaluation model based on design consistency and accident prediction factors is presented, utilizing the integration of MapInfo and SQL Server database. The model library is constructed, and subsequently, standard compliance review and design consistency evaluation are conducted. The system can realize visualization and docking with road design software. The adjustment of design scheme and data statistics and analysis can be realized by using the callback technology of MapInfo. The design, evaluation and optimization of expressway can be coordinated synchronously, and the safety of expressway in design and operation stage can be evaluated. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

With the continuous development of tennis tournaments, the Tennis Ball Boy (TBB) mechanism has been gradually improved, the Eagle-Eye Vision system has been maturely applied in tennis tournaments, and TBB has been moving towards intelligence. In this paper, the concept of an intelligent TBB robot system is proposed, and a TBB robot based on a quadrotor Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) is developed to address the problems of long working hours, high intensity and the safety hazards of standing for TBB in tennis tournaments. Based on the modular design method, the intelligent TBB robot includes robot hardware design, visual tennis ball object detection, visual localization and navigation, and overall robot control system design. The tennis ball clamping mechanism is designed based on a symmetric single Degree-Of-Freedom (DOF) pawl mechanism. The tennis ball object detection system is designed with the YOLOX deep learning object detection framework, and this model is deployed through the OpenVINO platform, which enables the robot to detect tennis balls in real-time. The visual localization system based on the VINS-FUSION framework is constructed with a binocular vision fusion IMU. On this basis, a SE(3) positional controller, a 3D A∗ path planning algorithm and Minimum Snap trajectory optimization are developed to enable the robot to have navigation and obstacle avoidance functions. An advanced decision control system based on the Finite State Machines (FSM) is designed for the Robot Operating system (ROS) platform. Finally, the experiment verifies the reliability of each module of the robot, and this paper can provide a basis for further research. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents the effectiveness of Kamishibai audits use in restructuring the audit system on a daily basis in the aeronautical sector. This lean tool has a strong visual component allowing to verify if the numerous processes and activities are in accordance with the company's standards, triggering improvement opportunities in all audited areas. The paper objective is to present how this tool was developed and implemented, being described the audit framework, requirements to be audited, the many cards guiding the auditor, the operating method and how useful this tool can be even in large productive process audits. In order to demonstrate this tool effectiveness, an application example to four pilot areas in the company is presented, taking into account some pre-established restrictions. There is a practical motivation due to the existence of numerous non-conformities registered in previous audits. With this tool, company gains were: less audits, audit reduced cost of 5.000 (sic)/year, more non-conformities corrected, reduced time performing the audits. These audits can be successfully used to assess industry standards and increase internal control.

This paper proposes a simulation method for Tactical Targeting Network Technology (TTNT) data chain system based on a Network simulation technology software package (OPNET)and MATLAB to address the shortcomings that the current research only focuses on the specific functional model of TTNT data chain system and cannot evaluate the whole element and process of TTNT. This paper proposes a TTNT data chain system simulation method based on OPNET and MATLAB, which can realize the comprehensive system simulation and performance evaluation of TTNT data chain system by fully utilizing the features of OPNET network-level simulation and MATLAB signal-level simulation. This paper firstly introduces the basic principles of system simulation, then describes in detail the design and implementation methods of the three functional modules of application protocol, networking protocol and transmission waveform in the node model, and finally verifies the effectiveness of the proposed system simulation method for evaluating the key functional performance indicators of TTNT system through system simulation. To address the practical needs of campus security management in private universities, this paper proposes an intelligent access control system based on facial recognition. To enhance the accuracy of the model in Asian facial recognition tasks, we designed a data augmentation strategy tailored to Asian facial features, thereby increasing the diversity and richness of the training data. By integrating edge computing technology, we optimized the facial recognition model through methods including model pruning, quantization, and knowledge distillation, achieving efficient deployment on edge devices. Experiments conducted on a subset of Asian faces from the VGGFace2 dataset demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms traditional approaches such as LSTM and CNN in terms of accuracy, inference time, model size, and energy consumption. This success enables real-time and efficient facial recognition on edge devices. The research findings provide effective technical support for smart campus security management in private universities. ©2024 IEEE.

With the continuous development of embedded system-on-chip, it has become a trend to add MicroBlaze soft core to Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) to complete the design and development of system communication and external interface control. The Multi-boot function of the FPGA provides a multi-mirror boot solution. It can realize the remote update of the FPGA configuration image without modifying additional hardware circuits on the premise that the device is powered on continuously. In addition, if the image switchover fails, the FPGA can return back to a secure image to ensure the remote update security. Based on MicroBlaze soft core, DDR3 external cache device and FLASH peripheral memory device, the multi-boot of the underlying algorithm program and application program is realized on Kintex7 FPGA. The detailed steps of software design are given for how to realize the multi-boot of the underlying logic program and the processing system application program respectively. The method has been verified in the infrared photoelectric system. © 2024 SPIE.

This paper introduces XMeta-OS, a meta-operating system specially designed with Linux as its foundation to unify and optimize resource management for the distributed edge-cloud when dynamic use of GPU resources is possible. This approach offer a new GPU abstraction layer and dynamic edge-cloud allocation model that offer enhanced flexibility and resource utilization over existing systems like Kubernetes and OpenStack. By using likely sensitive data, the model applied cloud-pushed deployment model. XMeta-OS manages computer resources in real-time. Therefore, fulfilling high performance various needs. It allocates CPU and GPU in real-time to workloads requiring massive parallel processing, such as machine learning, scientific simulations, real-time data analytics, and transportation tasks. Fabrication in the laboratory of an edge-cloud environment can help to assess the scalability, fault tolerance and efficiency of the system. It showcases the overall architectural design of XMeta-OS. Changes to the kernel and security solutions for safe and effective distribution are suggested. This article presents the design of the XMeta-OS. The future of XMeta-OS entails usage and testing with which we see latency, energy, computation and other such measurements in labs. XMeta-OS is a solution to cost performance, emerging application, large-scale edge-cloud deployments, and distributed GPU-enabled infrastructures. The article explores the use of Model-Based design (MBD) to develop a detailed electro-thermal (ETDM) model for the Smart Latch system (SLM) in next-generation vehicle door automation. Ensuring model accuracy is essential for enhancing design verification, validating requirements, and simulating specific failure scenarios. The article also investigates the impact of minimizing feedback branches in the engine control system to determine the optimal configuration, focusing on cost reduction. Additionally, it examines the effects of feedback anomalies from the integrated Hall effect sensor and how the microcontroller processes current feedback via a shunt resistor. Various parametric simulations assess the control system’s robustness against model uncertainties. Finally, processor-in-the-loop testing validates the operational logic and response times, facilitating rapid design adjustments, reducing prototyping time, and enhancing industrial production efficiency. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.
