The aim is to make appropriate reflections on artificial intelligence AI through the differences in cognitive systems between intelligent digital libraries and well-trained experts, especially scientists. The method is: first, compare the difference and connection between data structure and knowledge reserve, then compare the difference and connection between query, retrieval or search algorithm path, finally, compare the difference and connection between cognitive computing and cognitive ability. Its characteristics are: data query or search algorithm and logical reasoning or cognitive computing, knowledge graph and cognitive graph are all conducive to the construction of intelligent digital library. The result is: it is found that whether it is based on rules or statistics or a combination of the two cognitive systems, there are limitations in cognitive computing and cognitive ability or intelligence. Its significance lies in: from this we can at least reflect on the theoretical limits of AI and some worthy questions, such as the calculability problem and Turing test problem and the Chinese Room Argument of the intelligent digital library. The problem of isomorphism with the information processing mode of the intelligent digital computer, and why can’t the intelligent digital library become a well-trained expert or even a scientist, and so on are worthy of the philosophy of logic and mind with Cognitive Science. © 2021, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

In order to optimize the pattern synthesis of multiple input and multiple output (MIMO) radar, immune mechanism is adopted to overcome the premature risk of differential evolution (DE) algorithm, namely immune differential evolution (IDE). Firstly, the modeling of MIMO radar is introduced by encoding the position of array in the binary. Secondly, the immune mechanism is employed to improve the DE. In IDE, two parameters are self-adapted for the mutation operator by immune mechanism to enhance the convergence ability of DE, including scaling factor and crossover rate. Several experiments are conducted to analysis the performance of IDE. The simulation results show that the IDE with variable parameters can get optimal results in MIMO radar with lower the peak side-lobe level (PSLL) and maintain the diversity with stronger convergence ability and shorter calculation speed. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The First international Workshop on "Intelligence Cross-data analytics and Retrieval" (ICDAR'20) welcomes any theoretical and practical works on intelligence cross-data analytics and retrieval to bring the smart-sustainable society to human beings. We have witnessed the era of big data where almost any event that happens is recorded and stored either distributedly or centrally. The utmost requirement here is that data came from different sources, and various domains must be harmonically analyzed to get their insights immediately towards giving the ability to be retrieved thoroughly. These emerging requirements lead to the need for interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary contributions that address different aspects of the problem, such as data collection, storage, protection, processing, and transmission, as well as knowledge discovery, retrieval, and security and privacy. Brain tumour is one of the major causes of the increasing mortality rate. There is an emerging need for precise diagnosis from the pathology, as human prediction is prone to errors. Brain pathology is captured using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) which gives high quality images of the blood vessels. These MRI images can be used to extract features and predict the tumor. The extracted features can be classified using Machine leaning (ML) algorithms. In this advanced and emerging deep learning era, images can be fed directly to the prediction system and the system itself extracts features at higher level of abstraction and classifies the images. This article presents a comparative analysis for classifying the MRI images of Glioma (a type of brain tumor) and healthy brain using convolutional neural networks (CNN) and ML algorithms like support vector machines (SVM), random forests, and bagging. CNN and the ML algorithms were implemented on BRATS 2013 challenge dataset and it is found that CNN has achieved highest accuracy of 95%. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The advent of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies in the 21st century has led to exciting achievements. IoT smart medical devices along with wearables are generating and communicating high volume and high-velocity of heterogeneous data. Consequently, services provided by traditional methods such as cloud computing to manage these data become insufficient. Fog computing is seen as being the most effective solution for IoT-based healthcare. The stringy demand of this model was principally driven by a growing need for real-time analysis and low latency. It is apparently envisioned that the medicine field expects to draw enormous interest in combining IoT and fog computing. This in turn, improved the patient treatment, staff satisfaction, and operational efficiency and showed positive influence on all aspects of healthcare. This paper has reviewed fog computing in the context of medical IoT while comparing it with cloud computing and has attempted to present the three-layer architecture of fog-based healthcare system containing: edge, fog and cloud. It has also highlighted challenges facing IoT-driven healthcare in an ever-changing world.

Incomplete or missing data is a significant challenge in real-world information systems that can lead to flawed decision-making. The rough set theory has limitations when dealing with incomplete information systems, and researchers have proposed alternative approaches. This paper proposes a new similarity relation that utilises probable equivalent value sets to improve the accuracy of incomplete information systems. The approach enhances the quality of decision-making and provides reliable results. Experiments conducted on various datasets with different levels of missing data show that the approach can improve the accuracy of incomplete information processing by up to 90%. Compared to existing methods, the proposed approach can handle both categorical and continuous attributes, address problems of non-uniqueness and redundancy of probable equivalent value sets, and is not dependent on any specific data distribution. In conclusion, the proposed technique provides an effective solution to the challenges of incomplete information systems. By using probable equivalent value sets, the approach improves the accuracy of incomplete information processing and enhances the quality of decision-making. It has potential for applications in data science and related areas, and further research is needed to explore its limitations and applicability to real-world problems. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
