Nowadays, transportation companies look for smart solutions in order to improve quality of their services. Accordingly, an intercity bus company in Istanbul aims to improve their shuttle schedules. This paper proposes revising scheduling of the shuttles based on their estimated travel time in the given timeline. Since travel time varies depending on the date of travel, weather, distance, we present a prediction model using both travel history and additional information such as distance, holiday, and weather. The results showed that Random Forest algorithm outperformed other methods and adding additional features increased its accuracy rate.

As the limited processing power and energy of mobile terminals, the QoS of delay-sensitive service cannot be guaranteed. This paper proposes an SDN-based task caching and offloading strategy (SD-TCO) by mobile edge computing technology. The strategy mainly includes two algorithms: SDN-based mobile edge computing network (SD-MEN) task caching algorithm and branch-bounding algorithm based on greedy strategy. The SD-MEN task caching algorithm is used to increase the cache hit ratio by saving the frequently called task results on the edge server, and the branch-bounding algorithm based on greedy strategy is used to offload the task reasonably, which can ensure the QoS of users and minimize energy consumption. Simulation results show that SD-TCO has achieved effective improvement in stable delay and energy consumption.

Due to the disruption in the cycles of rainfall, increasing atmospheric temperatures and a rise in CO2 emissions, food security is at a risk globally. This has posed severe threats to food availability, quality, quantity and livelihoods of the stakeholders in the agricultural industry. Thus, an integration of smart and environment friendly systems is inevitable to sustain the natural resources, livelihoods, food production and distribution to thereby ensure food security and mitigate climate change risks. To that end, smart Agriculture (SA) and Climate smart Agriculture (CSA) augment the existing agricultural systems to adapt to and mitigate changing climatic conditions while ensuring resource utilization optimization. Through the use of latest technologies, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence, Geo-informatics and Big data analytics, SA and CSA have been widely studied to determine optimal crop health and increase food safety. However, there is a need to analyze the role of SA and CSA in reducing the impact of climate change on food security. This paper presents an analytical review of SA and CSA along with a thorough CSA architectural taxonomy. We also highlight the limitations in the existing literature, and present recommendations to address the open issues. © 2020 IEEE.

With the rapid proliferation in population of the big cities, numbers of vehicles are also growing with proportionate pace. People prefer to use private transport rather than public transport which results an increase in the number of vehicles. Thus, finding vacant parking place becomes cumbersome, resulting in several issues like increase in consumption of fuel, time and energy. Thanks to the Internet of things (IOT) that has advanced so much and opened a new spectrum of technologies that were previously considered as science fiction. Almost every field is inclined to get benefits from IOT. Big cities or metropolitan cities are also on the track of smart cities by exploiting IOT and addressing issues such as traffic congestion, limited car parking facilities and road safety. In this paper, we have reviewed some research papers from the recent work carried out in the year 2018 to 2019 related to IOT based smart parking. In their investigations different models augmented with sensors, integrating cloud and mobile application are presented, which subsequently yields in a smart parking system which saves time, energy, fuel and subsequently carbon footprint. It is noticed that disabled people are ignored to be addressed in their systems and there is no single global parking solution exists so far. The rapid development in miniaturization and robustness of processors, sensor and coupling with machine learning added to the potential of smart and single global solution feasible for future researchers to address parking issues exists in both indoor and outdoor parking lots.

One of the most important points to improve the profits in an industrial process lies on the fact of achieving a good optimisation and applying a smart maintenance plan. Under this circumstances an early anomaly plays an important role. Then, the implementation of classifiers for anomaly detection is an important challenge. As many of the anomalies that can occur in a plant have an unknown behaviour, it is necessary to generate artificial outliers to check these classifiers. This work presents different one-class intelligent techniques to perform anomaly detection in an industrial facility, used to obtain the main material for wind generator blades production. Furthermore, artificial anomaly data are generated to check the performance of each technique. The final results achieved are successful in general terms.

Increasing urbanization is one major trend that shapes tomorrow's society;by 2050, more than 85% of the developed world's population will live in a comparatively small number of ever-growing cities. Within such cities and their commuter belts, reliable high-rate wireless communication will not only be required for (quasi-) static users but also for hosts of people moving in public and private transportation networks. Yet, wireless connectivity is not restricted to people;frictionless functioning of such a society in motion is supported by intelligent Mobility, where each connected transportation vehicle (car, train, bus, ship, aircraft, motorcycle, and bicycle) is expected to be a smart object equipped with a powerful multi-sensor platform, communication capability, computing units, and Internet protocol (IP)-based connectivity, such as to be highly efficient in various vehicular and transportation applications. This vision requires a more pervasive and ubiquitous communications and networking core, which will not be only driven by the existing research on 5G but also enabled by future mobile wireless communications that employ new concepts, such as data analytics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and cloud computing. Therefore, this IEEE Access Special Section focuses on various theoretical and experimental views on researching and developing the required technological enhancements of 5G and beyond mobile wireless communications, to efficiently support the vision of intelligent mobility, providing mobility as a service, and enabling dependable Internet services. Employers who expose their workforce to hazardous vibration from mechanized tools need to develop an understanding of the health risk their employees face as a consequence. ISO 5349-2 was developed as an international standard to define how vibration exposure should be measured to quantify the risk to the individual. The authors would contend that the standard does not facilitate the economic collection of data across a range of tool users on a routine basis. In this paper, the Current Situation of Monitoring equipment for Hand-Transmitted Vibration Measurement is summarized with a review of the equipment's functionality. The paper then examines evidence from a time in motion study of a group of skilled operators repeatedly performing a single task to highlight the broad variability in monitored exposure levels relative to that expected. The authors conclude with the benefits the wearable sensor offers as a practical everyday assessment relative to existing methodologies.

At present, the amount of data generated by high-energy physics experiments is increasing. When Hadoop, a large data processing platform, is used to process high-energy physics data, it is faced with the actual needs of data migration. However, the existing migration tools do not support data transmission between HDFS and other file systems, and their performance has obvious defects. Starting from the requirements of synchronization and archiving of high energy physical data, this paper designs and implements a universal mass data migration system. By extending the access mode of HDFS data, MapReduce is used to migrate data directly between HDFS data nodes and other storage systems/media. In addition, the system designs and implements the dynamic priority scheduling model, and evaluates and chooses the dynamic priority of multi-task. The system has been applied to data migration in large high altitude air shower Observatory (LHAASO) cosmic ray and other physical experiments. The actual operation results show that the system has good performance and can meet the data migration requirements of various experiments.
