With the growth of population specifically in market areas and industrial areas, the traffic-related consequences such as congested roads, finding vacant parking space, traffic congestion at major traffic points in the town, etc. are also increasing particularly at office hours, business hours, and peak hours. Drivers of the vehicle just keep on circling in parking lot to find the vacant parking space. Due to this, people are facing a lot of problems like delay in traveling time, getting frustrated as well as health hazard caused due to vehicular fuel pollution. To overcome this problem, many parking management systems have been introduced which helps in providing information about exact real-time car parking space availability to drivers. In this paper, we are considering real-time smart parking system for collecting data of smart parking lot occupancy and parking restrictions on each lot from field sensor devices and then forwarded to servers for processing as well as usage for application which are on Google Play store and iOS users from App store. The main objective of this analysis is to help end users such as citizens and parking manager to ease traffic congestion and reduces time by using real-time bay sensor data and application to show driver exact location in parking lot. The focus of this paper is to analyze statistics of maximum stay of each car in parking lot, influencing traffic in parking restriction lot depending on the weekdays.

When the traditional method is used to warn the students’ mentality transition data, the weight of the sample set is ignored, which leads to large warning errors. An intelligent early warning algorithm for student mentality transformation in psychological database is proposed. Obtain the sample set of the training sample of the student’s mentality transformation data data, obtain the weight of the initial sample set, construct a strong classifier to classify the data samples of the student’s mentality transition, and establish an early warning optimization algorithm for the student’s mental state transition data. The experimental simulation proves that the proposed method has high early warning efficiency and can provide strong support for ensuring students’ health psychology. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2020.

Agriculture is now a trillion-dollar industry, making significant contributions to the growth of several developing as well as developed countries. The huge rise in the growing demand of food and making it sustainable for people is encouraging the need for smart farming. There is a great potential to transform traditional farming profoundly by integrating Internet of things (IoT), Blockchain, and Geospatial technologies to emerge as smart Farming. Blockchain based farming provides farmers various instant agricultural data at one secured platform, represents a unique opportunity to bring greater efficiency, sustainable crop production, tackle food scarcity, and adds transparency and traceability to the exchange of data related to farming management. Uses of Blockchain in farming management is not only improving the food traceability but also making farming safer for farmers as well as consumers involved, less uncertain and more profitable to the farmers. This paper describes the use of Blockchain technology in farming to manage the practices in a smarter as well as sustainable way, by presenting the decentralized infrastructure with added immutable geospatial technology and IoT sensors capabilities. Our proposed system architecture will explain how Blockchain technology with GIS & IoT will revolutionize the traditional farming practices. Moreover, Blockchain preserves the stakeholders privacy by enhancing IoT framework with more reliable and secure data. Likewise, geospatial technologies create the greater impact by providing visualization and decision making through analytics by transforming traditional farming into sustainable farming. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2020.

With the advent of growing digital technology, large amount of video data is being generated, making video analytics a promising technology. Human activity recognition in videos is currently receiving increased attention and activity recognition systems are a large field of research and development with a focus on advanced machine learning algorithms, innovations in the field of hardware architecture, and on decreasing the costs of monitoring while increasing safety (Guo and Lai in Pattern Recognit 47:3343-3361, 2014, [1]). The existing system for action recognition involves using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN). Videos are taken as a sequence of frames and frame-level CNN sequence features generated are fed to Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) model for video recognition. However, the abovementioned methodology takes frame-level CNN sequence features as input for LSTM, which may fail to capture the rich motion information from adjacent frames or multiple clips. It is important to consider adjacent frames that allow for salient features, instead of mapping an entire frame into a static representation. Thereby, to mitigate this drawback, a new methodology is proposed wherein initially, saliency-aware methods are applied to generate saliency-aware videos. Then, an end-to-end pipeline is designed by integrating 3D CNN with LSTM, followed by a time series pooling layer and a softmax layer to predict the activities in video.

The implementation of Sensor Network is a vital area of research in achieving accurate data transfer for automated hand hygiene systems. Sensing devices is also called host or end systems, they provide a service to collate data and can access the internet. The investigation of the entire sensors which include Infrared, water, ultrasonic, distance and motion sensor are based on the Internet Protocol Stack. Internet Protocol Stack consist of five layers such as physical, link, network, transport and the application layer, these layers work together to transmit data across the network. Public building is considered vital to be protected from the spread of infection through poor hand hygiene. In this sense an automated system is required to encouraging people to mitigate the spread of infections in such environment. In this context, this paper proposes a Sensor Network Automated Hand Hygiene Systems in public building (SN-AHHS). Sensor Network Automated Hand Hygiene Systems was designed to prevent spread of infection occurring in public building facilities by prompting users. The designed system uses smart devices (sensors and actuators) for SN-AHHS system. Internet of Things (IoT) platform is employed to process and analyze the collected data from these smart devices in the facility. SN-AHHS has been tested and evaluated, the results show that all component can communicate effectively which is vital to activate the require functionality to alert the user to perform good hand hygiene, it means SN-AHHS is activated when the user step into the facility.

At present, China is in the rapid development stage of population aging, home care service model in the care system in the basic position, but this model is fraught with problems. The transformation and upgrading of the traditional home-based care service model can not only improve the quality of life of the elderly in their later years, but also is of great significance to the healthy and sustainable development of the service industry. Starting from the connotation and demand of endowment personalized service that occupy the home, in the data mining technology for technical support, analysis of data mining application in home endowment personalized service demand and the demand of the platform, is proposed based on data fusion of the wisdom of the endowment the overall architecture of the platform, wisdom endowment platform can be divided into infrastructure layer, data layer and application layer. The infrastructure layer includes hardware resources such as intelligent pension terminal and network deployment, and the data support layer includes data and data fusion. The research of this paper also shows that the personalized service system for home-based elderly care based on data fusion can meet the actual needs and has strong practicability. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2020.

College students must not only master the professional knowledge they have learned, but also learn to interact with others. Due to various pressures, the psychological burden of students is also increasing. The service to students’ mental health is imminent. In the era of big data, information is diversified, so it is necessary to mine the information suitable for students’characteristics from the massive information. In view of the above problems, in the era of big data, this paper proposes data mining technology and mental health self-service system in Colleges and universities to achieve innovative service effect. By applying K-means clustering algorithm to data mining, it is found that 58.6% of the students choose self-resolution or let it go naturally when they encounter psychological problems. This paper further gives suggestions on the object-oriented, content and technology of mental health self-service in order to realize the innovation of mental health self-service system in Universities in the era of big data and provide reference for mental health service. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2020.

Fog computing is now emerging as the dominating paradigm bridging the compute and connectivity gap between sensing devices and latency-sensitive services. However, as fog deployments scale by accumulating numerous devices inter-connected over highly dynamic and volatile network fabrics, the need for self-healing in the presence of failures is more evident. Using the prevailing methodology of self-stabilization, we propose a fault-tolerant framework for control planes that enables fog services to cope and recover from a very broad fault model. Specifically, our model considers network uncertainties, packet drops, node fail-stops and violations of the assumptions according to which the system was designed to operate (e.g., system state corruption). Our self-stabilizing algorithms guarantee automatic recovery within a constant number of communication rounds without the need for external (human) intervention. To showcase the framework's effectiveness, the correctness proof of the self-stabilizing algorithmic process is accompanied by a comprehensive evaluation featuring an open and reproducible testbed utilizing real-world data from the smart vehicle domain. Results show that our framework ensures a fog system recovers from faults in constant time, analytics are computed correctly, while the control plane overhead scales linearly towards the IoT load.

The analysis of data collected from the interaction of users in the virtual learning environment attracts much attention today as a promising approach for advancing the current understanding of the learning content development, learning process in general as well as VLE stakeholders' behaviour. The learning analytics research has not frequently focused on analysing of time-based trends in VLE stakeholders' behaviour or their preferences in the same VLE over different years of deployment, as well as on analysing of temporal trends in the selection of different activity types over a typical period. Therefore, the paper deals with several methods, which can be used for analysing VLE stakeholders' behaviour over several academic years. The paper introduces a case study, which shows that several analytical and data mining methods can give useful insight into the changing behaviour of the stakeholders of the VLE over a longer period. Finally, the paper summarises the obtained results and discusses possible implications and limitations of the applied approach from different perspectives in the context of the management of the virtual learning environment, VLE stakeholders and educational content improvement at the institutional level.

Around the world, producers across a variety of industries need tools and models for better measuring and monitoring water in order to guide decision making and improve productivity. Nowhere more is this the case than in irrigated agriculture. The purpose of this research is to develop a technology that integrates farmer costing data with on-site physical data provided by intelligent systems and technology to provide an account of on-farm water use. Currently, farm accounting technologies are not at the level of sophistication required to deeply consider the financial impacts of water use or loss. Water accounting technologies are not able to easily link to and integrate business systems and data to provide necessary monetary decision-making data, nor the context to support a smarter approach to cost-informed water management. Linking of soil moisture sensed data and local and remote weather station data to farm accounting in a potatoes case study demonstrates how smarter farm decision making can be supported by linking business systems and sensing technology.
