Modern cloud orchestrators are generally designed to make efficient use of resources in the data center, by consolidating the servers workload. Recently, energy efficiency has become critical factor to sustain the growth of cloud services;thus, more effective resource allocation and management strategies are required. The situation is exacerbated by introduction of HPC-oriented cloud services, where other aspects of the application execution are critical, such as the minimisation of the makespan. Although a short makespan allows for a rapid application execution, often the overall energy consumption of the whole cluster suffers, growing out of all proportion. Starting from the growing attention paid in recent years to the concept of "green computing" (or ICT sustainability), in this paper we propose a different type of resource scheduler, whose main objective is to maximise the (energy) power efficiency of the computational resources involved, while taking into account the overall application execution time. An artificial intelligence (AI) technique, in the form of population-based evolutionary algorithm, was used to develop the proposed scheduler, in order to find the best possible combination between tasks to be performed and usable nodes able to guarantee lower (energy) power consumption and, at the same time, the fulfilment of possible constraints related to tasks' execution. This paper focused on the implementation and evaluation of an evolutionary algorithm for efficient task scheduling. Experimental evaluation of such algorithm is discussed.

People aged 65 and above are considered to be the fastest-growing population in the world. It is believed that the majority of elderly people will be living alone and hence need to receive health services to ensure their well-being. One promising way is to provide caregivers access to the elderly daily activities (e.g., eating, cleaning, exercising patterns, etc.) through non-intrusive means. Therefore, recognizing and tracking their daily activities play a key role in providing timely health and emergency services that foster better day-to-day care. The solution proposed in this paper is based on analyzing and recognizing the daily activities based on the energy consumption of appliances inside homes. To ensure that elderly people's data are protected and accessible by authorized personnel within the healthcare ecosystem, blockchain technology is used as a means for maintaining and sharing daily activities patterns with healthcare providers. The main challenges of this paper are as follows: (i) How to recognize relationships between appliance usage and daily activities from concurrent streams of smart meter data;and (ii) how to construct profiles of daily activities and upload them to the blockchain system. For addressing these issues, we develop our model based on Bayesian network to recognize daily activities based on the energy consumption of appliances. To ensure that elderly people's data are protected, we use Hyperledger blockchain technology as a trustworthy mechanism for creating profiles, in order to protect data and prevent scams or frauds that might jeopardize people's privacy.

Although the Electronic Records Management System (ERMS) is necessary for organizations to enhance their performance, many organizations are yet to embark on its implementation, while some others attempt at implementing it without model, thus leading to an ineffective and erroneous implementation. On the other side, researchers have already started applying cloud computing in ERMS implementations of education sector for its benefits. Therefore, this paper aims to propose a model for cloud ERMS implementation in an attempt to improve the Yemeni public sector educational institutions competency, using Technology Acceptance Model 3 (TAM3). The study used the quantitative approach through questionnaire that was used as instrument to gather data from 350 respondents working in the education sector of Yemen. Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) was used to predict the relationship between the constructs. The findings revealed that both dimensions of ERMS and Cloud are important in implementation of ERMS. The results also showed that ERMS has a significant relationship with the competency of the public sector educational institutions. This has arises implication whereby the public sector needs to pay attention to the factors found in the model in order to promote a successful implementation.

The digital clothing mall is the product of the rapid development of 5G virtual reality technology and network technology. It surpasses the existing Internet e-commerce platform and realizes the "human-machine integration" of e-commerce and the immersive three-dimensional effect. The analysis of the differences and similarities between the dynamic VR display of digital clothing display design and traditional animated clothing design provides a theoretical basis for the combination of VR and clothing display system design, which has important theoretical and practical significance. This article analyzes the advantages of 5G virtual reality technology based on the current status of product display on the Internet, attempts to apply the traditional display design concepts to the network-based virtual display system, builds a network-based digital clothing store virtual display system, and creates A new three-dimensional product display method. In this paper, on the Virtools development platform, the user’s autonomous roaming in the scene and the interactive script of the product are designed in detail. Secondly, the principle of the core collision detection technology in 5G virtual reality technology is explained, and a script program for collision detection is added to the interactive function program of the clothing mall to avoid distortion and distortion. In-depth research was conducted on the display and dissemination methods of VR for apparel malls, building a display and dissemination model of apparel malls based on VR technology, and combining design elements of user experience to derive relevant design principles and communication strategies. Based on RFID technology, the key technologies of smart meter life cycle management system are researched. Through RFID and cloud platform technology, the purpose of closed-loop management covering the entire life cycle of RFID smart meter design, production, parameter setting, factory inspection, warehouse management, on-site meter reading and maintenance scrapped was realized. RFID features include anti-collision mechanism and contactless, etc. are used to achieve multi-radio chip, multi-channel smart meter factory settings, factory testing, on-site meter reading, data backup and other functions. The cloud platform big data analysis mechanism is utilized to guide the watch factory in material selection and optimization design to improve the quality of the meter and reduce the failure rate of the meter so as to ensure the safety of the key data in the table and the purpose of fast and accurate data exchange with RFID intelligent meter is realized. The RFID tag antenna is optimized and simulated. The simulation results show that the maximum antenna gain is 1.6304 dBi, and the coverage characteristic reaches 360° along the θ direction, which can effectively improve the data reading rate and distance. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The concern of the industrial sector about the increase of energy costs has stimulated the development of new strategies for the effective management of energy consumption in industrial setups. Along with this growth, the irruption and continuous development of digital technologies have generated increasingly complex industrial ecosystems. These ecosystems are supported by a large number of variables and procedures for the operation and control of industrial processes and assets. This heterogeneous technological scenario has made industries difficult to manage by traditional means. In this context, the disruptive potential of cyber physical systems is beginning to be considered in the automation and improvement of industrial services. Particularly, intelligent data-driven approaches relying on the combination of Energy Management Systems (EMS), Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Internet of Things (IoT) and data analytics provide the intelligence needed to optimally operate these complex industrial environments. The work presented in this manuscript contributes to the definition of the aforementioned intelligent data-driven approaches, defining a systematic, intelligent procedure for the energy efficiency diagnosis and improvement of industrial plants. This data-based diagnostic procedure hinges on the analysis of data collected from industrial plants, aimed at minimizing energy costs through the continuous assessment of the production-consumption ratio of the plant (i.e. energy per piece or kg produced). The proposed methodology aims to support managers and energy-efficiency technicians to minimize the plant's energy consumption without affecting the production and therefore, increase its competitiveness. With the development of grid distribution network planning technology, it has become a reality to carry out reliability investment analysis through big data of distribution network operation. The risk cost quantification of power shortage based on grid distribution network planning makes the development of grid change from the traditional goal-oriented to problem-oriented. Through the reasonable quantification of cost caused by shortage of electric supply, the user portrait characteristics of grid planning are brought into play, and accurate positioning of distribution network investment planning is made. The research and application of the cost quantification of short power supply can integrate the quality of power supply into the evaluation of investment requirement and provide a reliable theoretical basis for the establishment of a reasonable electric transmission and distribution price. With the increasing rate of urbanization worldwide, cities have been deemed places where the "battle for sustainability" will be either lost or won. intelligent infrastructure and increased capabilities for data collection through wearables, ubiquitous computing and IoT offer the opportunity to better understand (un)sustainable behavior at a city scale. They can also help study the effects of urban design on individual behavior. My research contributes to a growing body of work in the field of persuasive cities, which aims to reshape the way people behave in urban areas. I aim to identify ways of integrating data from different sources such as crowdsourcing, apps, analytics and sensors to understand individual behavior and place-based qualities. Based on these, I will design and implement nudging interventions for more sustainable behavior. These interventions will be based on personalization through mobile applications and in-thewild experiments. The outcome of this work will be used to draw conclusions about designing interventions at a city scale and the possibilities of integrating persuasive technology and urban interaction design. © 2020 CEUR-WS.
