With the rapid growth of the population, the resulting amount of pedestrian traffic puts greater pressure on the traffic management and travel services of cities. The original-destination analysis of residents' travel can effectively promote the optimization of urban regional traffic planning and the release of accurate traffic information. The rapid construction of the cellular network and the expansion of the personal smart phone, with which the user terminal interacts with the cellular network, generate a large amount of communication data, including additional time for the intelligent terminal to transmit the carrier base station. This paper proposes a mobile phone signaling-based user travel feature recognition and road network traffic monitoring system. This solution uses mobile phones as a probe to collect vehicle signaling data along the road to evaluate vehicle distribution and road traffic flow. It reflects the congestion status of the road, simultaneously analyzes the user's travel characteristics and regional distribution in the area through user trajectory, and dynamically evaluates the running status of urban road traffic.

The trend of IoT is increasing day by day, making each and everything related to daily life a smart thing. Making things smart also reduces the need for manpower;in addition, the work is done appropriately as it decreases human intervention. The garbage management is one of the major problems as it causes many diseases if the garbage is not collected on time. smart bins are used to collect all the garbage from a particular area until the bins are filled up to a threshold level. When the bin is 80% filled, the location of the bin is displayed to the garbage collector on his mobile application using the GPS module attached to the bin. With respect to the above theory, we are proposing an idea in which there is a prototype that the bin when gets filled up to a threshold level, i.e. when 80% of the bin is filled, the GPS module attached to the bin will show an alert to the garbage collector truck of that area that the bin in his vicinity needs to be emptied. A shortest path to empty all the filled bins or the bins with the threshold level is also displayed on the mobile application that saves fuel and time and more work can be done. When the bin is filled or senses hazardous gas using a gas sensor, it will close the lid until the garbage truck arrives to empty it. Once the lid is closed, only the garbage collecting truck assigned to that area can open the lid. The garbage is then dumped to the garbage collecting truck, which in turn is composed of a unit that comprises individual machines that have the ability to segregate different types of waste using robotic arm by detecting the properties of that waste. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2019.

Blockchain is developing rapidly in various domains for its security. Nowadays, one of the most crucial fundamental concerns is internet security. Blockchain is a novel solution to enhance the security of network applications. However, there are no precise frameworks to secure the Internet of Vehicle (IoV) using Blockchain technology. In this paper, a blockchain-based smart internet of vehicle (BSIoV) framework has been proposed due to the cooperative, collaborative, transparent, and secure characteristics of Blockchain. The main contribution of the proposed work is to connect vehicle-related authorities together to fix a secure and transparent vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication through the peer-to-peer network connection and provide secure services to the intelligent transport systems. A key management strategy has been included to identify a vehicle in this proposed system. The proposed framework can also provide a significant solution for the data security and safety of the connected vehicles in blockchain network.

Many cities around the world implement the intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) concept to reduce road traffic congestion. This concept implies the usage of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies to ensure a better traffic flow, especially in crowded urban areas. Sensors networks became part of road infrastructure and have as main responsibilities to collect real-time traffic data and to send them to Traffic Management Centres (TMCs) which control further the traffic lights timings. Today's technologies meet some limitations in terms of efficiency. This paper starts with an overview of these limitations to create a path for discussing the challenges that the development of ITS will meet in the context of Future Networks (FN) 2030 concept. Based on this development path, the identification of current limitations and possible future challenges consists of an important step of this research. Further, the main contribution in this research is to show how the ITS shall adapt to meet the requirements of FN 2030 by providing an architecture for Future ITS 2030 that meets the general ITS needs.

Wrist-worn smart devices are providing increased insights into human health, behaviour and performance through sophisticated analytics. However, battery life, device cost and sensor performance in the face of movement-related artefact present challenges which must be further addressed to see effective applications and wider adoption through commoditisation of the technology. We address these challenges by demonstrating, through using a simple optical measurement, photoplethysmography (PPG) used conventionally for heart rate detection in wrist-worn sensors, that we can provide improved heart rate and human activity recognition (HAR) simultaneously at low sample rates, without an inertial measurement unit. This simplifies hardware design and reduces costs and power budgets. We apply two deep learning pipelines, one for human activity recognition and one for heart rate estimation. HAR is achieved through the application of a visual classification approach, capable of robust performance at low sample rates. Here, transfer learning is leveraged to retrain a convolutional neural network (CNN) to distinguish characteristics of the PPG during different human activities. For heart rate estimation we use a CNN adopted for regression which maps noisy optical signals to heart rate estimates. In both cases, comparisons are made with leading conventional approaches. Our results demonstrate a low sampling frequency can achieve good performance without significant degradation of accuracy. 5 Hz and 10 Hz were shown to have 80.2% and 83.0% classification accuracy for HAR respectively. These same sampling frequencies also yielded a robust heart rate estimation which was comparative with that achieved at the more energy-intensive rate of 256 Hz.

At an era of Industry 4.0 revolution, when it is said that the automation is buzzword among the all the devices/applications available. Still automation in Hospital Management System are far from reality in most developing nations. Automation in the field of Healthcare is the need of today's generation. This would help in providing a lot of functionalities to a patient with the help of a mobile application and other devices (Wearable devices to complex devices in testing centers). Here in our framework, patient details, which can be collected regularly from wearable devices and/or collected from Testing Centers (Clinics) and the case history from any hospital visited previously, all these vital details are stored in central repository irrespective of the hospital he/she visits. At the case of emergency, the patients case history which is stored in Central repository(Cloud). These details at any point of time if made available in any hospital, it can fast track the process in handling the patient. Also, understanding the secrecy level to be maintained in the Electronic Health Record and the way the HSM operates nowadays. This research work proposes to have a framework wherein, Patient related data collected from the wearable devices to the data stored in the CR (Cloud), utilizes Audio-Steganography as tool for Security aspect. The framework proposed would be an ideal solution during the current pandemic COVID-19 situations, with Doctors Forum proposed in the framework would be utilized to the most extent possible way to benefit each citizen at large.

Gene regulatory network provides an effective way to study functional genomes. Reconstruction of gene regulatory network can better help us to reveal the regulatory relationship and complex mechanism between genes, thus exploring the essence of biological systems and lives. At present, the modeling methods of gene regulatory network either solve the problem of accuracy or scale of gene regulatory network by optimizing the model or combining various models. However, with the continuous increase of network scale and the computational complexity, the reconstruction of the network has exceeded the ability of single machine. Thus, we presented the Distributed Local Bayesian Network (D-LBN) method based on MapReduce framework to solve this problem. D-LBN is based on LBN algorithm which uses mutual information method, k-nearest neighbor algorithm, Bayesian network model and conditional mutual information method to reconstruct gene regulatory network. D-LBN realizes distributed computing using MapReduce framework at the step of regulatory direction learning with Bayesian network model to achieve the purpose of reconstructing large-scale gene regulatory network. Experiments based on two scales of dataset is done to verify the performance of D-LBN in reconstructing gene regulatory network at different scales. The results show that D-LBN is consistent with LBN in evaluation index and much more efficient than LBN on large-scale network reconstruction. And the scale of the network that can be reconstructed is also greatly improved.

In the new era of innovation, the ordinary strategy which is the conventional method is still been employed to measure rubber. In the conventional method, the settler needs to bring the rubber to be measured, calculate the result and physically recorded the data into the logbook before bringing the logbook into the FELDA office. Besides, the rubber officer needs to ensure that the weight in which the settler shows match with the recorded data. This routine may lead to misinformation or the information can be faded, lost and misplaced. It takes a lot of time, energy and cost since the settler needs to get the result of total rubber information every day, week and month to be reported to the FELDA office. Therefore, the smart Rubber Scale (SRS) System is proposed which inspired from the conventional process and it was made into the cloud system where it is measured by using the Arduino platform and all the data will be sent automatically into the database using Internet of things (IoT) technology. The SRS hardware devices consist of load cell sensor, scale sensor, Arduino UNO R3, sensor module HX711, Bluetooth module and LCD display. The SRS website is develop by using notepad++ programming, PHP, CSS, SQL, and HTML language. In this system, the staff in the FELDA office and the settler can use it for their convenience. The system will help the staff to automatically store all the rubber weight into the system and it would prevent misinformation, unlike the conventional method whereby the information needs to be recorded manually in the logbook. The settler can see the information anywhere and anytime. The system will record rubber details and the total of rubber collected by settler for every month.

Privacy-preserving reversible watermarking, as a subfield of secure signal processing, has received a growing research attention in the recent years due to privacy concerns in cloud computing. In this paper, we propose a novel reversible watermarking scheme for data exfiltration prevention. This scheme enables the cloud to embed labels that indicate the degree of confidentiality into the encrypted documents in such a way that the network administrator can monitor the document exfiltration through detecting the labels in the encrypted domain without compromising data privacy. An efficient watermarking algorithm is devised primarily based upon the concept of lexicographic permutations. In addition to this, a content-adaptive signal estimation mechanism is constructed for assisting host media recovery. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme outperforms the state-of-the-art with regards to watermarking capacity, fidelity, and recoverability. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2019.

Green technology for economically viable engineering designs and sustainable environment is highly desirable for future smart city applications. An intelligent system for operating and controlling lighting in order to save energy is developed and presented in this article. The system is implemented on Alibaba Cloud IoT platform on STM32 development board using STM32 medium-density performing microcontroller with high performance ARM ® Cortex ® -M3 RISC core. It includes communication between wireless sensors and actuators, and control of light sources. The HC-SR501 human infrared sensor is also used for detecting people and BH170 photosensitive sensor for synthetic brightness detection. The system includes indicators to represent three orders of magnitude of temperature sensor reading. The system developed in this work also features (i) an OLED display unit enabling users to view sensed data easily and (ii) Web platform-based User Interface (dashboard) for allowing users to easily interact with the system. The overall system provides a practical and interactive solution for data visualization and to remotely control light sources.
