This paper presents the results of a new teaching approach applied to a postgraduate programme conducted at a state university in Sri Lanka. The study reviews the change of teaching approaches from the onsite delivery to virtual learning during the pandemic and how it evolved in the post-pandemic era. Albeit remote learning was imperative during the pandemic, the universities were given the flexibility to decide on the mode of delivery and redesign their teaching approaches once the world returned to new normal. With the novel experience gained through virtual teaching and learning during Covid-19, higher education institutions across the world did not fully return to analogue teaching as before. The numerous advantages of virtual delivery resulted in the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes continuing with the online teaching or adopting the blended mode. This study presents the results of conducting Master of Arts in Linguistics programme in different modes, how the teaching approaches changed over the years during pre-pandemic, pandemic as well as post-pandemic eras. The research design contained mixed method approach which included a survey and recorded feedback obtained during the sessions. The new learner centred approach adopted during the post-pandemic times yielded more benefits and positive feedback when analysing the survey results and the comments given by the students.

Digital education curricula underwent substantial changes worldwide in the last decade, emphasizing computational thinking and problem-solving skills, as introduced in Austria in 2018 for students aged 10-14. This study evaluates the effectiveness of a novel learning environment in promoting these skills and facilitating the implementation of new curricula. The research utilized the BBC micro:bit device for physical computing and block-based programming, alongside an open educational resource textbook. A quasi-experimental pre- and post-test design, based on tasks from the Bebras international Challenge, assessed four units of learning activities conducted over 5-8 weeks. Results demonstrate the potential of the learning environment materials to foster confidence in computational thinking among teachers and students, suggesting a successful promotion of the Computational Thinker in middle schools through practical everyday classroom application aligned with new digital education curricula.

Low-code programming has significantly increased software development efficiency, becoming an international trend amidst the rapid advancement of technology. Low-code development platforms (LCDPs) feature an intuitively understandable interface, enabling developers and non-technical users to quickly grasp their functionality and create programs. Implementing low-code development in engineering education is considered to be an effective way to foster engineering students' ability to deal with the continuous improvement and adaptation of industrial and business processes. In addition, introducing LCDPs in learning practice can greatly enhance student engagement in teamwork and project management concepts, by overcoming their lack of programming experience. Thus, this article highlights the pedagogical approaches and advantages of integrating LCDPs into students' team projects focused on creating digital solutions. We also aim to present our ongoing experience using Google Apps Script in teaching the "Project Work Technology" course for engineering students and their perception of low-code development.

This article presents a study on the design and implementation of a teacher training course titled "teaching Strategies for the Development of Active learning Spaces in the University Classroom" (TSDAL), offered by the teaching Unit of the Faculty of engineering at Universidad de la Republica, Uruguay. The course aims to equip faculty teachers with theoretical knowledge and practical tools for designing proposals that promote active learning (AL). Participants engage in synchronous and asynchronous activities, collaborating and developing their AL-based proposals. Course evaluation was conducted by analyzing the enrollee's participation and administering a final survey to assess their experience. The research questions guiding this study focused on identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the participant's performance and understanding the advantages and challenges they encountered when incorporating AL into their course design. The study results offer valuable insights into the effectiveness of the TSDAL course and provide recommendations for future iterations. The research emphasizes the importance of pedagogical training and support for university faculty in adopting AL approaches. It highlights the need to transition from traditional instructional methods to a learning paradigm where students construct knowledge through higher-order thinking and collaboration. Furthermore, the findings underscore the significance of institutional policies, faculty motivation, and continuous professional development in successfully implementing AL approaches in higher education. The knowledge gained from this evaluation can inform the design of future pedagogical training initiatives and support the adoption of AL strategies in university classrooms.

This paper recounts our experiences with the 'ScrumBoard', a custom-built open-source digital project management tool specifically designed for software engineering project courses. We discuss how it has supported experiential learning pedagogy and assessment over multiple iterations of a two-semester, 3rd year project course, having now been used extensively by more than 200 students. While offering a similar experience to commercial software project management tools, we reflect on how the ScrumBoard has supported our ability to assess students more accurately and efficiently, and how the tool has enabled us to identify problematic work practices in real-time, allowing for earlier interventions from teaching staff and an improved learning experience for students.
In recent years, machine learning courses have been widely introduced in undergraduate and graduate programs such as Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science and Technology, Data Science and Big Data Technology at ma...
