Anatomy teaching forms a fundamental part in undergraduate medical and dental education. Gross anatomy teaching using post-mortem bodies at the same time causes extensive high infrastructural and personnel resources. Dissection rooms and related mortuary facilities are expensive to operate, hence technical capacities are limited by the logistics involved for providing the basis of high-quality teaching. Virtual tools offer a realistic and immersive learning experience, thereby supporting to better prepare students for their hands-on teaching experience, and hence allowing to enhance the dissection course in an effective way. Furthermore, students can translate their knowledge to other fields in medicine such as radiology or surgery. Even though virtual tools cannot replace hands-on-teaching, it was hypothesized that as a result of using virtual tools accompanying teaching, student learning experience and knowledge gain will be enhanced, thus providing a more effective approach towards teaching delivery. The starting point for the here given project was to evaluate emerging virtual technology with the potential to be deployed in anatomy teaching. We assessed three technical scenarios driven by suitable use cases for individual teaching processes, which will aim to enrich the classical way of anatomy teaching approach by taking advantage of virtual tools. Two scenarios are hybrid, one scenario is virtual asynchronous (but can also be used in a classroom lesson). All three scenarios can also be applied to other fields of science teaching, e.g. engineeringteaching by simply replacing the content. In this paper we describe the seven-dimensional use case definition, the technical design of the scenarios and first pilot trials.

Project-based learning (PBL) is a methodology in which students learn concepts by carrying out real projects. PBL involves the direct participation of students in the practical application of the contents they are learning, promoting engagement and the development of various skills that would not be acquired through passive or individual studies. This article aims to analyze the use of PBL in teaching industrial automation concepts to 43 undergraduate Computer engineering students. The case exploited was the concept of an industrial automation system. To support this project and validate the methodology used, data from a computing college and a partner company are considered. The technology college employs an innovative teaching methodology fully based on PBL, while the partner company has proposed a real industrial automation project to be carried out by undergraduate students. The results of this research are relevant for investigating new teaching methodologies in engineering education.

Microelectronics is the major with multiple characteristics of new engineering, practical disciplines and interdisciplinary disciplines. In today's information era, the improvement of the training system for microelectronics majors is an urgent problem to be solved. Combined with the innovative concept of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education, this paper will carefully analyze the problems existing in the development of China's microelectronics major as an emerging engineering discipline. Views on the need to reform microelectronics professional education with the concept of STEM education will be put forward, including the core competencies that graduate students need to pay attention to in STEM education, and how to use a more complete school-enterprise cooperation education mechanism to strengthen STEM education. Finally, an educational evaluation system and a student assessment system based on learning output are proposed.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has revolutionized various domains, including education. It has the potential to transform traditional educational models and provide personalized learning experiences. Lifelong learning and continuing education have become essentials pillars for expanding personal growth and skill profiles in the professional world. This paper outlines the basis of lifelong learning and continuing education and presents assumptions, analyses, and a framework for the development of an Ai-based, cross-Platform cOmpanion-app [for] Lifelong learning Optimization (acronym: APOLLO) as part of a 36- month funding project kindly supported by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and supervised by the German Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) as part of the funding guideline of the innovation competition INVITE. It outlines the project idea, describes the motivation and the problem in the field of education.

Remote classrooms are increasingly taking a bigger role in student learning as the world transitions into a postCOVID era. There is hence an increasing need to explore more avenues to improve the learning experiences in such remote classrooms. To provide an initial understanding of the disparities in learning experiences between virtual reality (VR) and traditional mediums, this paper presents a study with 11 participants in team-based classroom learning tasks across three conditions - face-to-face, video conferencing and VR. The findings highlight several benefits and limitations of VR-based classrooms, e.g., the expressivity of avatars and customizability of learning environments in VR allows for a more personalized experience, but excessive interactivity sometimes lead to distractions. These findings shed light on how VR may be best designed to enhance remote classroom experiences.

On average, students exhibit low motivation and confidence in mathematics, a trend that prevails even in engineering schools. Teachers often struggle to comprehend each student's learning status and find it challenging to monitor their progress consistently. To address this issue, our study introduced a blended teaching approach, documented students' weekly online engagement and learning accomplishments, and developed a weekly performance-engagement (PE) chart (learning dashboard). Utilising principal component analysis, virtual analysis, and qualitative interviews, we established the PE chart to identify the correlation between learning engagement and achievement. Furthermore, the study conducted a t-test comparing pre-and post-test scores to determine if the PE chart-guided instruction significantly enhanced students' learning achievement. Our findings revealed substantial improvements in learning outcomes, offering valuable insights for instructional designers and educators to evaluate the effectiveness of blended learning approaches in mathematics, assess students' learning status, and refine teaching methodologies.
The COVID-19 pandemic has sharply highlighted the issues associated with keeping students engaged in online learning environments. In response, we introduce a real-time system for detecting and analyzing student atten...
