In this paper, a new method for online learning of Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) model from input-output data is presented. It is based on a novel learning algorithm that recursively updates T-S model structure and parameters by combining supervised and unsupervised learning. The rule-base and parameters of the T-S model continually evolve by adding new rules with more summarization power and by modifying existing rules and parameters. To reduce the complexity of fuzzy models while keeping good model accuracy, some approximate similarity measures and simplification methods are presented. Using these methods, the redundant fuzzy rules are removed or merged. The simplified rule base is computationally efficient and linguistically interpretable. The consequent parameters of the T-S model are identified and optimized by Kalman filter. The approach has been successfully applied to T-S models of non-linear function approximation and dynamical system modeling.

Due to customers' demands, network intrusion detection systems (NIDS) are required more real time. Since traditional intelligent NIDS are constructed on the basis of historical network data and system logs, they are expensive and not real time in a network stream environment. This paper presents an improved real time model that based on sequence mining to accelerate the accuracy and efficiency. In this paper, multidimensional item set is used to describes network events, sliding window is used to gather network data stream, and sequence mining algorithms are applied to discover intrusions from normal network stream. Analysis and study on this model indicate that it provide a more accurate and efficient way to building real-time NIDS.

Software development is becoming a more and more complicated task, and traditional client/server based software engineering management methods may not be suitable for large-scale software development. With the rapid development of the network technologies solutions have been emerged. This paper proposes a software engineering management method based on the peer-to-peer infrastructure. By exploring the characteristics of P2P, our system takes "peer group" as the unit to build up services such as source code management, task assignment, and software visualization. Our framework overcomes the bottleneck existed in the server in the traditional C/S structure, and transfers the loads of the server to the network boundary. Our method takes full advantages of the computation resources, and increases the system's performances. A performance test using our method in software development for practical applications is also shown in the paper.

Recently robust tracking of nonrigid objects is becoming a more and more interesting and important research topic in computer vision research community. However the traditional methods of optical flow estimation have a number of problems, such as huge computation cost for the inverse of time-varying Hessian matrix estimation, aperture phenomena for the points with 1D or little texture, drift phenomena with long sequence and hard to estimate the points with depth discontinuity. A novel algorithm namely inverse component uncertainty factorization subspace constraints optical flow based tracking is proposed in this paper, which resolves the above problems and achieves fast, robust and precise tracking. The proposed algorithm has been evaluated by both the standard test sequence and the consumer USB camera recorded sequence. The potential applications vary from articulated automation, structure from motion, computer surveillance to human-computer interaction.

This paper presents a novel blind video watermarking method based on the stability of the direct current (DC) coefficient values in blocks transformed by discrete cosine transform (DCT). The frame is randomly selected to embed watermark, and then its luminance is blocked by 8-by-8 and transformed by DCT. The watermark is embedded in the high frequency coefficient of some consecutive DC coefficients which have been transformed by DCT. During the detection process, the correlation between the watermark and the high frequency coefficients of the DC coefficients transformed by DCT is computed to judge whether the frame has been embedded watermark. The experimental results indicate that the correlation curve peaks emerge at the watermarked I frames and P frames which suffered MPEG-4 and H.264 compression. The proposed watermarking method has strong robustness against some attacks such as frame deleting, frame inserting, frame shifting, frame statistical average and collusion attack.

The temporal difference method can fast extract moving objects, but easily causes small holes and is generally not an effective method for extracting the entire shape of the moving object as well; the background subtraction method can extract the regions covering the moving objects preferably but easily to be affected by stationary objects in the scene that start to move. What's more, the adaptive subtraction of the background is very difficult to achieve. This paper proposes a new detection method for moving object with complex background. First of all, the filtering is done in both the temporal field and the spatial field to reduce the influence of noise. Secondly, the probable moving regions are fast subtracted by the temporal difference method. Finally, the object is precisely fixed by using Gaussian distributions of the adaptive mixture model (GMM). The experiments show that the method given in this paper is more efficient in extracting the moving object compared with temporal difference and GMM.

Generally, we get probability distribution quantile by looking through numerical tables, however, it is not only easy to make mistake, but also limited in precision, no more than 0.0001. And programming techniques up to now are either too restrictive to be applied to general cases, or too complicated to be implemented for practical use. Therefore, there is a need for robust procedures to estimate quantities, which can be applied to relatively generic processes and easy to implement. The paper briefly discusses the algorithm and the implement of some familiar probability distribution quantiles, such as, standardized normal distribution, /spl beta/ distribution, X/sup 2/ distribution, t distribution and F distribution. Especially, we use Newton dichotomy here to improve the precision, in the case of t and F distributions which is insufficient by approximate formulae only, because of the accumulated error. An experimental performance evaluation demonstrates the validity of these procedures to calculate probability distribution quantiles.

Analysis of how to extract medical diagnosis rules from medical cases. Based on the rough set theory, a way of acquiring knowledge is introduced. Using this theory, we analyze the data, propose some possible rules and reveal an optimized probability formula. The steps of implementation, which includes the continual information discretization system, information reduction system, decision acquirement rules, decision model generation, etc., are explained through case study. In the end, the whole process of knowledge acquirement is discussed, which can effectively solve the choke point problem of acquiring knowledge in the expert system. At the same time, it also provides a new way to solve the application of artificial intelligence technology in the field of medicinal diagnosis.

Mobile agent and web service are promising new technologies with bright future, and have wide application in aspect of scientific study as well as in engineering industry. Meanwhile they both have deficiencies. The paper first analyzes the similarities and differences between these two technologies by example, then engages in attempting to integrate these two technologies into a totally new technology, called agenice (agent and service), a kind of intelligence service. These are aspects’ discussion: 1) VM and IL, translate the agent classes which are programmed by other languages such as Java to interface language for running on multi-OS and multi-platform; 2) AML, the agenice description language based on semantics; 3) mobility, the way to transfer agenices code and state.

Interpolative reasoning method is a reasoning technique, which is designed to deal with reasoning in sparse rule-based systems. This paper proposed a weighted fuzzy interpolative reasoning method by using a like-gravity-centre of fuzzy sets whose shapes are trapezoidal. This method allows the conditions appearing in the antecedent part and the consequence of the rules, the certainty factors of the rules, and the weights of the conditions appearing in the antecedent part of the rules to be represented by trapezoidal fuzzy numbers. We use scale and move rate transformation operation to support such reasoning. The presented method are constructing a new inference rule first by manipulating two given adjacent rules and next by exploiting similarity information to convert the derived inference result into the conclusion.
