Long-term learning exploiting historical RF information benefits CBIRS in both effectiveness and efficiency. However, distinguishing specific user understanding of image is a key issue deserving much attention. Based on the Bayesian framework in PicHunter, we propose a probabilistic model incorporating long-term learning to estimate a dynamic user model. By using RF sequence as the user pattern, our approach can gradually update the prediction of current user based on matching the current user pattern with the user patterns in Log according to Edit Distance. Compared with the invariant user model in PicHunter, our model is capable of dynamically adjusting when more user actions are observed, thus provide more accurate prediction for probability distribution. Experimental results show that our approach can improve the retrieval effectiveness apparently.

Comparing with the traditional host virus, the network virus has more attack ability and is more infectious in open network environment. So it is necessary to set a national virus precaution system to detect and control the network virus epidemic situation. In this paper, a distributed broadband network virus precaution model is introduced. It analyzes the data in the network and discovers the coming virus epidemic situation in time. The quantitative analysis of broadband network virus epidemic situation is given, too. According to the result, we can collect the scale, the speed and the direction of the epidemic situation. Consequently, we can establish effect control policy to reduce harm.

Shortest path tree (SPT) computation is an important combinatorial optimization problem with numerous applications. A novel neural network model called accumulative competition neural network (ACNN) is proposed in this paper to compute the SPT in a given weighted graph. Comparing with the other neural network based search algorithms, the algorithm presented here features in much less number of neurons needed, much less iterations of the network needed, the simplicity of neuron model, the simplicity of the topology structure of the network and the global optimal solution result. Finally, examples for searching the shortest path tree in weighted graphs are given. All the results have shown the high performance of the ACNN in searching the SPT in weighted graph.

According to the requirements of decision analyses and the limitations of current prediction methods in China railway train ticket system (CRTTS), a novel method TTDTPA, which is based on decision tree induction, is presented. TTDTPA extracts a kind of instructive rules that collect the advantages both prediction and statistic, therefore it is suitable for supporting multi-level requirements of the decision-makers for predictive analysis in CRTTS. In this paper, firstly, the authors describe TTDTPA, and then through the detailed analysis on the application about passenger seat type, we prove the efficiency and the validity of TTDTPA in CRTTS. Finally this paper concludes the predictive analysis problems that is faced in CRTTS.

Applications designed to execute on "computational grids" frequently request the simultaneous co-allocation of multiple resources in order to meet performance requirements. In this paper, a new approach via agent coalition formation is presented for resource co-allocation in computational grids. Firstly, we describe an agent-based resource management architecture of computational grid, which is divided into five layers: resource layer, resource agent layer, lookup services layer, job service layer and end user layer. Then a coalition formation model is designed for efficient resource co-allocation.

In this paper, we have presented a feature importance ranking methodology based on the stochastic radial basis function neural network output sensitivity measure and have shown, for the 10% training set of the DARPA network intrusion detection data set prepared by MIT Lincoln Labs, that 33 out of 41 features (more than 80% dimensionality reduction) can be removed without causing great harm to the classification accuracy of denial of service (DoS) attacks and normal packets (false positives rise from 0.7% to 0.93%). The reduced feature subset leads to more generalized and less complex model for classifying DoS and normal. Exploratory discussions on the relevancy of the selected features and the DoS attack types are presented.

Topic distillation on the Web, namely, given a user query to find quality information sources related to the query topic by using hyperlink analysis, has been shown to be useful in Web IR. Based on the analysis of three deficiencies of classical topic distillation algorithm HITS (i.e., failing to meet users' site-granularity information needs; tending to produce unreasonable results; topic drift), this paper presents an improved model and algorithm named s-HITSc (site-granularity HITS enhanced by content analysis). Given a query topic, the new algorithm can model a neighborhood graph at site granularity, compute the relevance weights of the nodes to the topic with content analysis, and apply weighted I/O operations in its iterative hyperlink analysis. Theoretical analysis and experimental results show that the new algorithm can control topic drift and identify more reasonable and meaningful authority and hub sites on a given query topic.

Occlusion relation is the topological relation between the images of two bodies from a viewpoint. Qualitative representation of occlusion relation has been investigated in qualitative spatial reasoning. This research is important for computer vision and robot navigation. The previous models such as LOS and ROC-20 are all based on RCC (the famous topological theory). But those models couldn't support abstract objects such as point and line which are very common in real applications. To deal with this, multi-dimensional spatial occlusion relation (MSO) is put forward. The foundation of MSO is MRCC which is the multi-dimensional extension of RCC. So MSO is suitable for both real and abstract objects. The conception neighborhood and composition of MSO is given. Finally MSO is extended to spatio-temporal relation by adding time feature. MSO is an appropriate frame to express spatio-temporal knowledge.

With the large amounts of digital sports video increasing day-by-day, effectively analyzing sports video content has become more and more important. In sports video, replay scene often represents the highlight or interesting event of the video. The detection of replay boundary in the sports video is an important step in analyzing sports video content. In this paper, we present a model of replay boundary detection, and we address a new technique of identifying the replay boundary directly from MPEG compressed domain. It uses MPEG feature including macroblock and motion vector that is easy extract from MPEG video, then applies the rule of macroblock and motion vector to the detection of replay boundary. For working on features directly from the MPEG compressed domain, it performs faster than real time decoding. The experiment results show our model-free method is effective and low complex.

Inspired by the natural features of the variable size of the population, an improved genetic algorithm with variable population-size (VPGA) is presented in this paper. Based on the VPGA, a novel synthetic computational-intelligence-based method (SCIBM) is proposed and applied to the identification of water-flooded zones in the oil field. This method integrates evolutionary neural networks and recognition technique for multi-point-data neural networks. Simulation results applying the SCIBM to actual logging data in Daqing Oil Field show that the proposed method works well in the identification of water-flooded zones.
