This research is intended to develop a multimedia application Development, specially a Puzzle Game model for a multimedia course. This learning model should encourage student's ability to integrate all information resources from CD-ROM to develop a puzzle game application. The learning model focuses on how learners can develop a puzzle game application following the instructions in the CD-ROM. This research consists of 7 steps such as research and information collecting, planning, develop preliminary product, preliminary field testing, preliminary product revision, main field testing, and operational product revision. Subjects of the research are visual communication and computer experts in preliminary field testing, the informatics students at a university for implementation of the revised model in main field testing. The data were analyzed using the analytic descriptive method and interpreted in a narrative way based on the research findings. Based on the data of process and product competencies taken from the main field testing, 92.6 per cent of students were competent in puzzle game application development. The results indicate that students increase their ability to develop puzzle game application by following the instruction in the CD-ROM.

In human's daily life, more and more objects are connected with Internet. The objects can delivery sensed data and information through digital communication. The emerging Internet of Things usage also brings many applications. When the number of network connected devices increase, the volume of information and data is getting huge with time. Cloud technology supports to process large scale data and enhances the rapid elasticity. Cloud computing can be regard as the core technology to process these data. It is used to support the large scale data and applications for Internet of Things. The application of Internet of Things and cloud computing is undergoing changing in our life. It turns from simple research and concept to realistic usage, which brings the related business model. The usage of Open Data saves the time to people for getting data, which is convenience to access different data and information. In this research, six services are proposed to integrate cloud application, open data and internet of things. The specialized app at mobile device are developed. The whole services are deployed at two shopping call. The new application model and business service model are created in this research.

In each communication system an identification of the transmission channel between the transmitter and the receiver, it is necessary to identify the parameters of channel. Several methods exist, the most commonly used methods are learning by sending occasionally a known sequence between the transmitter and the receiver. In order to solve the problem of channels identification and save the resource of bandwidth, we use blind techniques which are a great interest to have the best compromise between a suitable bit rate and quality of the information retrieved. In this paper we describe tree blind algorithms witch are based on high order cumulant (HOC). In order to identify the impulse of two selective frequency fading channels called Broad Radio Access Network (BRAN A and BRAN E). Our contribution in this work is to make a comparative study between different algorithms of blind identification, compared with a supervised such as RLS algorithm. The simulation results are in a noisy environment with different SNR, demonstrate that the proposed algorithm is better to estimate blindly the impulse response of these channels (without any information about the input).

Usability has greatly been considered as one of the significant quality attributes to determine the success of mobile application. Mobile banking application is increasingly recognized as an emergent m-commerce application which dignified to become the giant killer mobile application arena. However, prominent usability evaluation models for mobile applications are too general and do not adequately capture the complexities of interacting with m-banking application platform. Similarly, there are no sufficient descriptions concerning the relationship between phases and appropriate usability measures for a specific application. Some banks do not offer m-banking application, while those that offer have inadequate functionalities and this shows that their interfaces are still insufficient and not user friendly. To date, usability and measurements for mbanking application in particular is very limited or even isolated and this makes usability evaluation of m-banking more of challenging. Consequently, this report proposes to address this matter by proposing a suitable and an appropriate set of usability dimensions and measurements for m-banking evaluation. The systematic literature review was employed to review relevant journals and conference proceedings. Seven hundred and eight papers were downloaded but merely forty nine papers have been selected and fully reviewed/analysed. Five usability dimensions and twelve relevant criteria (sub-dimensions) have been created that can be used to evaluate m-banking application.

The social web and huge growth of mobile smart devices dramatically increases the performance requirements for web services. State-of-the-art Web application Frameworks (WAFs) do not offer complete scaling concepts with automatic resource-provisioning, elastic caching or guaranteed maximum response times. These functionalities, however, are supported by cloud computing and needed to scale an application to its demands. Components like proxies, load-balancers, distributed caches, queuing and messaging systems have been around for a long time and in each field relevant research exists. Nevertheless, to create a scalable web service it is seldom enough to deploy only one component. In this work we propose to combine those complementary components to a predictable, composed system. The proposed solution introduces a novel class of web frameworks called Web Scaling Frameworks (WSFs) that take over the scaling. The proposed mathematical model allows a universally applicable prediction of performance in the single-machine- and multi-machine scope. A prototypical implementation is created to empirically validate the mathematical model and demonstrates both the feasibility and increase of performance of a WSF. The results show that the application of a WSF can triple the requests handling capability of a single machine and additionally reduce the number of total machines by 44%.

This paper presents a technique to improve anti-theft for android based mobile phones by using different services like MMS instead of SMS. As the use of smartphones, tablets, phablets based on android operating system is increasing, many scenarios related with anti-theft have already been proposed and many software based on anti-theft have also been developed, but most of these software are not freely available and it's difficult to identify the thief by using these software's e.g. GPS Tracking. We put forward a new scheme, which enhances the present scenario, based on new technologies like multimedia Messages. The scenario proposed in this work is totally dependent on the hardware of your smartphone like camera (front & back) and support for multimedia messages. Once this software is installed, it will work in the background, stores the current SIM number in a variable and keeps checking continuously for SIM change, whenever SIM gets changed from mobile, it will take snapshots and record a video in the background i.e., without taking user permission and then it will send an MMS, and number of snap shots, to an alternate mobile number and an email id, which was provided during installation. The enviable advantage of this software is that it is very easy to configure and it keeps running in the background without interrupting the user. To some extent it helps the owner to identify the thief.

Servers and network contribute about 60% to the total cost of data center in cloud computing. How to efficiently place virtual machines so that the cost can be saved as much as possible, while guaranteeing the quality of service plays a critical role in enhancing the competitiveness of service cloud provider. Considering the heterogeneous servers and the random property of multiple resources requirements of virtual machines, the problem is formulated as a multi-objective nonlinear programming in this paper. Virtual machine cluster with higher traffic is made staying together. This reduces the communication delay while saving the inter-server bandwidth consumption, especially the relatively scarce higher level bandwidth, by exploiting the topology information of data center. At the same time, statistic multiplex and newly defined “similarity” techniques are leveraged to consolidate virtual machines. The violation of resource capacity is kept at any designated minimal probability. Thus the quality of service will not be deteriorated while saving servers and network cost. An offline and an online algorithms are proposed to address this problem. Experiments compared with several baseline algorithms show the validity of the new algorithms: more cost is cut down at less computation effort.

Video coding is used for lot of multimedia purposes like video conferencing, digital storage media, Internet streaming and television broadcasting. This paper presents a new design for the implementation of Full-Search (FS) Variable Block Size (VBS) Motion Estimation (ME), which is a key issue of different video compression standards such as MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 Visual, H.261, H.263 and H.264. The FS algorithm is widely used for implementation of ME in video compression algorithms. This design is fully parametric in terms of block size, which is variable, and the Sum of Absolute Differences (SAD) is presented by re-using the outputs. The design features high efficiency in terms of operating frequency and reduction in hardware complexity. These architectures are designed using Verilog Hardware Description Language (HDL) and the functionalities are verified using ModelSim Simulator. For two different designs, namely 1-D and 2-D systolic architectures are analyzed in terms of frequency, gate count, total power. The design is synthesized using CADENCE RTL compiler with TSMC 90nm standard cell library. The operating frequency of 1-D design is 323.20 MHz and 2-D design is 166.67 MHz and the gate count for 1-D is around 5k and for 2-D is around 21k gates and these designs can treat up to 41 Motion Vectors.

Media types in heterogeneous source are usually represented in different dimensions; this makes cross-media retrieval hard to process. In this paper, we utilize a new domain adaptation to solve Heterogeneous domain adaptation (HDA) problem in cross-media retrieval using Heterogeneous Feature Augmentation (HFA). First, different dimensions of features are transformed into a common subspace by learning an intermediate variable, and augmented the transformed data with their original features and ones; second, in retrieval stage, we compute the similarity and rank the query results by bag-based reranking method. Experiments on two real-world large-scale image datasets and one text document dataset were conducted; we set two search tasks in the experiment, one is from image to text, and the other is from text to image, the experiment results demonstrate the superiority of our method compared with several newly proposed cross-media retrieval methods.
