Mental stress in academic settings significantly impacts students' health and performance. Physiological signals such as Electrodermal Activity (EDA) and Heart Rate Variability (HRV) offer valuable insights for stress classification. However, the multidomain nature of these signals often introduces redundancy and irrelevant data, reducing both classification accuracy and computational efficiency [1]. Hence, this paper proposes an efficient feature selection algorithm, CorLMI-FSA (Correlation-Logistic Mutual Information Feature Selection Algorithm), which dynamically adjusts redundancy weights through a logistic function to capture nonlinear dependencies among features. The proposed algorithm achieves accuracies of 96.82% and 95.84% for binary and three-level stress classification tasks using Gradient Boosting (GB), enhancing computational efficiency by selecting only the most relevant features. These results underscore CorLMI-FSA's potential as a low-complexity solution for realtime stress monitoring in wearable devices, facilitating timely intervention. © 2025 IEEE.

Worldwide, plant diseases pose a severe threat to agricultural productivity, leading to monetary losses and food shortages. Improved crop health and successful response depend on timely and precise disease identification. This study presents the creation of a mobile application intended to identify plant diseases in the three main crops - corn, tomatoes, and potatoes. The program classifies plant leaves as either healthy or unhealthy by using a a convolutional neural network (CNN) trained on a huge photo collection. For easy deployment on Android devices, the model was transformed into TensorFlow Lite format after being developed using the user-friendly Teachable Machine platform. Users may take pictures directly or upload them from the gallery using the Android Studio-based software, and the CNN model that has already been trained will classify them in real time. The app recognizes the illness, lists certain symptoms, and suggests fertilizers and treatment techniques for leaves that are afflicted. The efficacy of CNN-based methods for plant disease diagnosis in mobile settings is demonstrated by this work. Crop health and agricultural output can be enhanced by the application, which gives farmers and agricultural experts an easy-to-use tool for early disease diagnosis. © 2025 IEEE.

With the proliferation of e-government, e-commerce, and other applications, the demand for secure and accurate time information services has become more and more urgent in various industries. The traditional time distribution service has some risks regarding the security of time information. To cope with this demand, a secure time distribution system based on blockchain oracle is designed and implemented to provide secure and trustworthy time distribution services for internet applications. In the system, the oracle mechanism is used to introduce external time source data into the blockchain to ensure that the time information is accurate and traceable, and the time saved in the blockchain is distributed to the clients through the time synchronization protocol. To address the time delay problem introduced by software operation, a software delay smoothing algorithm is designed to smooth and optimize fluctuating and uncontrollable software delays. The experimental results show that the software delay smoothing algorithm has a smoothing effect of 72.7% on software delays, and the systematic error caused by software delay in this system is 718.0 μs,and the accuracy of the timestamps distributed to clients reaches the microsecond level. Compared with traditional methods, the secure time distribution system based on blockchain oracles significantly improves the accuracy of blockchain timestamps, and utilizes the decentralized and tamper-proof characteristics of blockchain to add a "traceable" feature to each timestamp, which can provide trustworthy time services for financial transactions, e-government affairs, and other key areas. © 2025 The Authors.

Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) are essential for contemporary applications involving timing, navigation, and positioning. With an emphasis on the navigation processing session - where signals acquired from satellites are converted into user position, velocity, and time information - this study focuses on designing and implementing a software-based GNSS receiver. Signal acquisition, tracking, and processing of navigation data are the three main phases of GNSS receiver operation. To ensure dependable satellite signal reception, signal acquisition and tracking are crucial. However, this study goes deeper into the navigation session, which includes position estimate techniques, decoding navigation messages, and computing pseudo-range measurements. Advanced methods including extended Kalman filtering and least-squares placement are incorporated into the navigation module to improve accuracy and dependability in difficult situations, such as signal-rich areas and urban canyons. Through the development of an adaptable software architecture, the receiver may handle several GNSS constellations, such as BeiDou, GPS, Galileo, and GLONASS. Modularity, scalability, and interoperability with a wide range of applications - from autonomous navigation to geospatial mapping - are given top priority in the system architecture. The software's ability to achieve sub-meter-level positioning precision is demonstrated through performance validation utilizing both simulated and real-world GNSS data. By highlighting the significance of the navigation session and offering creative methods for reliable and accurate position determination in a variety of operational settings, this work advances GNSS receiver technology. © 2025 IEEE.

Nowadays, the amount of software in modern cars as well as its complexity increases rapidly due to applications such as autonomous driving. Consequently, more powerful computing platforms are employed and software applications are developed in a distributed manner, e.g., by applying the widely established microservice pattern. Microservices introduce additional complexity regarding the communication between the individual services. Solutions that address these challenges have been developed. One of these solutions that is specifically designed for an application to the automotive domain is the CARISMA approach. The main idea of CARISMA is to employ a service mesh architecture that is adapted to the design of future electric/electronic (E/E) architectures. In this paper, we present an approach to describing a topology of services deployed based on CARISMA including their relationships regarding service-to-service-communication using the Topology and Orchestration Specification for Cloud Applications (TOSCA). This way, a complex CARISMA topology can be described using a model-based approach relying on abstract and reusable components. This increases the understandability of the modeled topology and enables an automated deployment and management. Furthermore, because only desired service-to-service communication paths are established, the complexity of the resulting CARISMA configuration is reduced. © IFIP international Federation for Information Processing 2025.

Person re-identification (Re-ID) has been widely used in public security and surveillance. Due to the influence of different shooting times and locations, can lead to lighting variations in the images captured by the camera, and the lighting variations seriously affect the Re-ID performance. Existing methods utilize images under different lighting conditions to transform to uniform lighting conditions to eliminate the effect of lighting on Re-ID. However, these methods ignore the fact that different illumination metric distances have different recognition performances. Therefore, we propose the optimal illumination distance metric, by analyzing different light distances for pedestrians in different light conditions, we find that there exists an optimal light condition in which the distance between image pairs is smaller than the distance in other light conditions. The distance under the optimal lighting condition is used in the retrieval process as the distance between its final sorted image pairs. To verify the effectiveness of our method, Market-1501-IA and Duke-MTMC-IA datasets are constructed, and a large number of experiments are conducted under different lighting conditions to verify the existence of the optimal lighting conditions and the effectiveness of the proposed method. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

This study presents an empirical comparison of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based unit testing tools, focusing on their usability, reliability, and the challenges of integrating them into existing software testing frameworks. As AI-driven testing tools emerge as solutions to the limitations of traditional manual testing, particularly within agile methodologies and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, their effectiveness remains an area of active research. The research evaluates the potential of these tools to automate test generation and execution, thereby improving test coverage and bug detection while minimizing manual intervention. However, significant usability challenges persist, as developers often find these tools difficult to configure and deploy, especially in projects with varying complexities. Additionally, concerns about the reliability of AI-generated tests, particularly regarding consistent bug detection across different environments, are addressed. Integration into legacy systems poses further obstacles, as many organizations hesitate to overhaul established testing frameworks. The findings of this study offer insights into the current state of AI-based unit testing tools and provide recommendations for overcoming barriers to their widespread adoption in real-world development environments. © 2025 IEEE.

This paper examines the adoption of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in the degree of Computer engineering at the Faculty of engineering. The study presents the degree structure and the curriculum that integrates competencies aligned with the European Higher Education Area, promoting both technical and transversal skills. The case study focuses on the third year of the Computer engineering degree, highlighting subjects, languages, faculty involvement, and PBL phases. The semester project, a central element, spans multiple weeks, emphasizing interdisciplinary group work and progressive skill development. The semester coordinator plays a pivotal role in managing and evaluating these projects, aligning with continuous and global assessment principles. The academic assessment model includes continuous feedback and aims to enhance students' academic and personal growth. The results indicate positive perceptions of PBL effectiveness, emphasizing active engagement, interdisciplinary skills, heightened motivation, and comprehensive skill development. Participants express a desire for enhanced resources and support systems, particularly in training, to optimize PBL implementation. As this educational model continues evolving, obtained insights advocate for ongoing adjustments to ensure the continued efficacy of PBL methodologies in preparing students for the challenges of the 21st century workplace.
