The progress of wireless technologies in recent years has tipped the automotive industry towards the digital world with multiple communication systems forming Internet of Vehicles (IoV). These communication systems are subject to disturbances and alterations due to the wireless and dynamic characteristics of vehicles. IoV aims to integrate new information services, safety applications, and internet services, based on the benefits of cloud computing, It tries to improve safety and comfort on the road. The deployment of these services requires messages to be exchanged between the vehicles in a secure manner. Consequently, routing and security topics are crucial to provide a quality of services and to preserve the data integrity. The Software Defined networking (SDN) architecture is the way that can guarantee these two issues. The purpose of this paper is, firstly, to present the impact of SDN architecture in a vehicular network. Besides, as the robustness of the routing protocols depends on the integrity and authenticity of the routing rules, an improvement of the HSDN-GRA vehicular routing protocol is also described. This improvement develops a distributed trust model and aims to secure the communication between the control plane and the data plane. The goal is to secure the southbound interface between the defined semi-centralized controller and the other vehicles, as well as the Vehicle to Vehicle (V2V) communication.

MATLAB has been widely used for providing a variety of functions and tools in engineering computing, numerical analysis, modeling and visualization. In particular, through 3D animation, MATLAB has advantages for M&S (Modeling & Simulation). High Level Architecture (HLA) is a general standard for interoperability and reusability in M&S. 3D animation has been used in the distributed simulations for the simulation analysis. In the distributed simulations, objects or entities continuously occur changes. Each change requires modifying its 3D animation objects or entities. It would be a problem in larger simulation environment. This paper proposes the method of an automatic-generate-3D-animation builder in MATLAB. The 3D-animation builder supports advantages of the HLA based distributed simulations. In this paper, we introduce design of a 3D-animation builder. We also present the example of an HLA-based simulation with the 3D-animation builder that could fully support the advantages of HLA simulation.

A distributed data compression algorithm for low-power wide-aria networks is proposed. The algorithm is based on prediction of observed process on server side with controlling prediction error on the end device side. The prediction is completed by recursive linear prediction algorithm using Levinson-Durbin recursion. The algorithm provides obtaining the estimated values in real time on server side with no sending any data through the network until prediction error exceeded threshold. It allows to use wireless transceiver less intensively saving the battery budget this way, and to reduce number of packets and its length saving the wireless channel capacity. The efficiency of algorithm is investigated on end device and server models using the real data collected by CO2, humidity and light sensors.

Smart grids are key enablers for creating sustainable energy systems. On the other hand, they introduce a grid management challenge as power grids become more complex and dynamic. Evolving power grids towards smart grids requires combining electric energy technology with communications and information technology. In a distributed network, time synchronization is often one central question. This paper studies limitations of utilizing the widely used Network Time Protocol (NTP) in current 4G cellular networks for smart grid management. As a specific contribution, an improved, NTP based clock adjustment algorithm is proposed to provide more accurate timing information. Finally, the paper studies capabilities of emerging 5G cellular networks to further improve accuracy of timing provided to user equipment (UE).

As the use of the IoT becomes widespread, the speed of data aggregation from end devices and data linkages between clouds becomes critical. In IoT services, vast amounts of data are often aggregated from tiny amounts of data generated from a large number of end devices. Therefore, if an IoT service is adopted in the current network infrastructures, a significant overhead is inevitable, such as through activities including name resolution using DNS in IP. In addition, as the header size in HTTP packets is relatively large, the load on the network further increases. To solve these problems, Information Centric networking (ICN) is being widely studied. Unlike the IP, the ICN aims to reduce the load on the network and shorten the data access time from the clients by distributing the data. In this study, we examined the mechanism of data linkage by using the following: (i) the MQ telemetry transport (MQTT) included in the ICN and (ii) shared memory blocks in the interworking points. From the experimental results obtained, we confirm that the clients in the proposed network configuration can acquire data with a uniform data access time independent of the number of interworking points.

Cloud computing is expanding to distributed edge computing(or known as fog computing). Connecting edge and cloud open great potential for real-time and mobility support workflow applications. However, scheduling workflow on a hybrid edge-cloud environment is an NP-hard problem. This paper proposes the Geo-Aware Multi-Agents-System-Based Workflow Allocation Approach(GMAS). Leveraging a novel geo-aware negotiation mechanism, GMAS addresses resource location caused transmission delays, which are the primary sources of workflow bottlenecks. In Multi-Agents-System(MAS), this paper proposes a geo-aware cost model and a dynamic workflow re-structuring strategy that decrease the impact of resource locations on workflow cost. Finally, this paper evaluates GMAS on Cloudsim, and the result shows that GMAS decreases the workflow makespan and traffic overheads.

In-memory data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark) make big data analysis greatly simpler and efficient. However, stragglers that take much longer to finish than other tasks significantly degrade performance. There exist multiple factors that cause stragglers, either from the hardware resource layer or application layer, e.g. hardware heterogeneity, interference, data locality and data skew. While state-of-the-art straggler mitigation techniques have presented partial solutions on data skew and data locality, we find that the other factors can also result in serious problems. We present Clio, a cross-layer interference-aware optimization system that can effectively mitigate stragglers for data processing frameworks. Clio supports the scheduling of both map and reduce tasks. It heuristically dispatches intermediate data in proportion to the actual computing ability of each worker node, which is estimated considering various straggler factors, to balance the completion times of tasks in a much finer way. We implement Clio in Apache Spark, and evaluate its performance using both synthetic and real datasets. Experiment results show that, Clio can speed up the execution of applications by up to 67%, compared with the existing algorithms.

As things currently stand, the blockchain industry is siloed among many different platforms and protocols resulting in various islands of blockchains. Restrictions regarding assets transfers and data migration between different blockchains reduce the usability and comfort of users, and hinder novel developments within the blockchain ecosystem. Interoperability will be the main topics of next-generation blockchain technologies. In this paper, we focus on how to enable interoperability between two heterogeneous blockchains in the context of data migration. We first build an cross-chain data migration architecture based on data migration oracle. Second, we design a data migration mechanism based on former architecture. By employing the proposed data migration architecture, it is equivalent to opening a secure channel between two heterogeneous blockchains allowing secure data migration. By applying data migration mechanism, the confidentiality, integrity and security of migrated data can be well guaranteed.

In this paper, we present O 3 , a social link based private storage cloud for decentralized collaboration. O 3 allows users to share and collaborate on collections of files (shared folders) with others, in a decentralized manner, without the need for intermediaries (such as public cloud storage servers) to intervene. Thus, users can keep their working relationships (who they work with) and what they work on private from third parties. Using benchmarks and traces from real workloads, we experimentally evaluate O 3 and demonstrate that the system scales linearly when synchronizing increasing numbers of concurrent users, while performing on-par with the ext4 non-version-tracking filesystem.

To deal with the security challenges and optimize the system communication quality, this paper focuses on introducing the concept of social networks to improve the physical layer security of D2D networks. The paper transforms the social relationship between nodes into a trust relationship. The node who is communicating can use free trusted D2D users as jammer to improve the physical layer security of D2D network. A trust update mechanism is used to encourage free D2D nodes to participate in the communication of D2D nodes that need to send information as jammer. Trust update mechanism will compensate for node power consumption. Paper uses game theory to model the system, and finally get the jamming decision of D2D nodes to improve the security of the physical layer of the system.
