Manual reconfiguration of a distributed real-time communication system by humans is error-prone and time consuming. To avoid errors, which may result in latter failures of the system, the reconfiguration of the communication resources should be carried out automatically by the system itself. This paper introduces a new broker model which enables the system to respond dynamically to changes in the system composition, like newly added network nodes or services. Further, we introduce a new client model that implements protocols for the agreement and coordination of the reconfiguration phases of the network nodes. Besides the support for ARINC 615A-3 (ARINC615A), the client model also provides a new way for data loading for devices that are not compatible with this standard. Our introduced models are finally implemented and evaluated within an experimental setup for TTEthernet. The main contribution of our approach is to adapt to both changes within the system's service compositions (e.g., new services, changed timing requirements) and changes within the network composition (e.g., newly added switches or nodes).

Fog computing is an emerging paradigm that distributes computing and networking services closer to where user data is generated. The Fog presents a new architecture that "takes processing to the data". The fog will resolve in the Internet of Things such as bandwidth and cost constraints and performing data fusion, etc. Considering the "distributed" property, this paper proposes to exploit the multi agent system technology for the development of the fog system. To demonstrate its feasibility, we adopt an open source platform for a multi agent system, VOLTTRON. Then, four types of fog agents are developed that collaborate to conduct building energy management tasks in an autonomous manner. The agents can reduce the energy waste in a building by managing the brightness of lights, power status of the HVAC systems, and various energy loads. They also receive weather data and price data from Korea Meteorological Administration and Korea Power Exchange and present the data on the web. This helps user to recognize the information easier. © 2019, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

The highly development of Mobile Cloud computing (MCC) expose many limitations and critical challenges to traditional host-centric IP networks. This paper presents the design of Software-Defined Service-Centric Networks (SD-SCN) to facilitate the networking requirement of MCC. SD-SCN provides a service-level abstraction of communication endhosts to enable name-based routing and explores recent emerging Software-Defined networking (SDN) concept to enable service-oriented customizable network management. We illustrate some significant benefits taken by SD-SCN to MCC.

Keeping patients' sensitive information secured and untampered in the e-Health system is of paramount importance. Emerging as a promising technology to build a secure and reliable distributed ledger, blockchain can protect data from being falsified, which has attracted much attention from both academia and industry. However, with limited computational resources, medical IoT devices do not have efficient ability to fulfill the functionalities as a full node in wireless blockchain network (WBN). Facing this dilemma, Mobile Edge computing (MEC) brings us dawn and hope through offloading the high resource demanding blockchain functionalities at the IoT devices to the MEC. However, aiming to maximize the mining profit, most of existing offloading strategies have ignored the other needs of wireless devices, e.g., faster transaction writing. In this paper, according to different needs, blockchain nodes are firstly divided into two categories. One is blockchain users whose needs are faster transaction uploading, the other is blockchain miners whose goals are maximum revenue. Then, to maximize both the utilities of blockchain users and blockchain miners, a Stackelberg game is introduced to formulate the interaction between them. From the simulation results, this game is proved to converge to a unique optimal equilibrium.

We formulate an optimization problem for maximizing the data rate of a common message transmitted from nodes within an airborne network broadcast to a central station receiver while maintaining a set of intra-network rate demands. Assuming that the network has full-duplex links with multi-beam directional capability, we obtain a convex multi-commodity flow problem and use a distributed augmented Lagrangian algorithm to solve for the optimal flows associated with each beam in the network. For each augmented Lagrangian iteration, we propose a scaled gradient projection method to minimize the local Lagrangian function that incorporates the local topology of each node in the network. Simulation results show fast convergence of the algorithm in comparison to simple distributed primal dual methods and highlight performance gains over standard minimum distance-based routing.

PageRank has a wide applications in online social networks and serves as an important benchmark to examine graph processing frameworks. Many efforts have been made to improve the computation efficiency of PageRank in shared-memory platforms, where a single machine can be sufficiently powerful to handle a large-scale graph. Existing methods, however, still suffer from synchronization issues and irregular memory accesses, which will deteriorate their overall performance. In this paper, we present an accelerated parallel PageRank computation approach, named APPR. By investigating the characteristics of parallel PageRank computation and degree distributions of social network graphs, APPR proposes a series of optimization techniques to improve the efficiency of PageRank computation. Specifically, a destination-centric graph partitioning scheme is designed to avoid the synchronization issues when concurrently updating the common vertex data. By exploiting power-law structure of social network graphs, APPR can intelligently schedule the computations of vertices to save computing operations. The vertex messages are adjusted by APPR for transmission to further improve the locality of memory accesses. Empirical evaluations are performed based on a set of large real-world graphs. Experimental results show that APPR significantly outperforms the state-of-the-art methods, with on average 2.4x speedup in execution time and 16.4x reduction in DRAM communication.

Health Data Records Fragmentation across hospitals, labs, pharmacies, and general caregivers has been hurting medical services quality and patient outcome. The problem is getting worse as we have even more healthcare accesses from different sources such as mobile phones, wearable devices, etc. In an attempt to defragment health data, we are proposing the utilization of distributed transaction ledgers (DTL) technology by IOTA-Tangle which facilitates communication between patients and care providers. Through this technology the gap between health-care delivery and population health can be bridged so the quality of health services and patient outcomes may be improved. Our approach provides complete picture for each patient by sharing data between healthcare participants.

Data is generated by humans every day via various sources such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Google, etc at a rate of 2.5 quintillion bytes with high volume, high speed and high variety. When this huge volume of data with high velocity is handled by the traditional approaches, it becomes inefficient and time-consuming. Apache Spark technology has been used that is an open-source in-memory clusters computing system for fast processing. This paper introduces a brief study of Big Data Analytics and Apache Spark which consists of characteristics (7V's) of big data, tools and application areas for big data analytics, as well as Apache Spark Ecosystem including components, libraries and cluster managers that is deployment modes of Apache spark. Furthermore, this also presents a comparative study of Python and Scala programming languages with many parameters in the aspect of Apache Spark. This comparative study will help to identify which programming language like Python and Scala are suitable for Apache Spark technology. As result, both Python and Scala programming languages are suitable for Apache Spark, however language choice for programming in Apache Spark is depending on the features that best suited the needs of the project since each one has its own advantages and disadvantages. The main purpose of this paper is to make things easier for the programmer in the selection of programming languages in Apache Spark-based on their project.

The extensive use of smartphones and wearable devices has facilitated many useful applications. For example, with Global Positioning System (GPS)-equipped smart and wearable devices, many applications can gather, process, and share rich metadata, such as geolocation, trajectories, elevation, and time. For example, fitness applications, such as Runkeeper and Strava, utilize information for activity tracking, and have recently witnessed a boom in popularity. Those fitness tracker applications have their own web platforms, and allow users to share activities on such platforms, or even with other social network platforms. To preserve privacy of users while allowing sharing, several of those platforms may allow users to disclose partial information, such as the elevation profile for an activity, which supposedly would not leak the location of the users. In this work, and as a cautionary tale, we create a proof of concept where we examine the extent to which elevation profiles can be used to predict the location of users. To tackle this problem, we devise three plausible threat settings under which the city or borough of the targets can be predicted. Those threat settings define the amount of information available to the adversary to launch the prediction attacks. Establishing that simple features of elevation profiles, e.g., spectral features, are insufficient, we devise both natural language processing (NLP)-inspired text-like representation and computer vision-inspired image-like representation of elevation profiles, and we convert the problem at hand into text and image classification problem. We use both traditional machine learning-and deep learning-based techniques, and achieve a prediction success rate ranging from 59.59% to 95.83%. The findings are alarming, and highlight that sharing elevation information may have significant location privacy risks.

Stencil computations are at the core of various Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) applications and have been well-studied for several decades. Typically they're highly memory-bound and as a result, numerous tiling algorithms have been proposed to improve its performance. Although efficient, most of these algorithms are designed for single iteration spaces on shared-memory machines. However, in CFD, we are confronted with multi-block structured girds composed of multiple connected iteration spaces distributed across many *** this paper, we propose a pipelined stencil algorithm called Pencil for distributed memory machines that applies to practical CFD problems that span multiple iteration spaces. Based on an in-depth analysis of cache tiling on a single node, we first identify both the optimal combination of MPI and OpenMP for temporal tiling and the best tiling approach, which outperforms the state-of-the-art automatic parallelization tool Pluto by up to $1.92 \times$. Then, we adopt DeepHalo to decouple the multiple connected iteration spaces so that temporal tiling can be applied to each space. Finally, we achieve overlap by pipelining the computation and communication without sacrificing the advantage from temporal cache tiling. Pencil is evaluated using 4 stencils across 6 numerical schemes on two distributed memory machines with Omni-Path and InfiniBand networks. On the Omni-Path system, Pencil exhibits outstanding weak and strong scalability for up to 128 nodes and outperforms MPI+OpenMP Funneled with space tiling by $1.33- 3.41 \times$ on a multi-block grid with 32 nodes.
