Software defined networks (SDNs) represent new centralized network architecture that facilitates the deployment of services, applications and policies from the upper layers, relatively the management and control planes to the lower layers the data plane and the end user layer. SDNs give several advantages in terms of agility and flexibility, especially for mobile operators and for internet service providers. However, the implementation of these types of networks faces several technical challenges and security issues. In this paper we will focus on SDN's security issues and we will propose the implementation of a centralized security layer named AM-SecP. The proposed layer is linked vertically to all SDN layers which ease packets inspections and detecting intrusions. The purpose of this architecture is to stop and to detect malware infections, we do this by denying services and tunneling attacks without encumbering the networks by expensive operations and high calculation cost. The implementation of the proposed framework will be also made to demonstrate his feasibility and robustness.

In this paper, we investigate the impact of network load on the Direct Acyclic Graph (DAG) consensus process for the blockchain enabled Internet of Things. Specifically, Markov chain model has been adopted to illustrate the dynamics in the consensus process for DAG based blockchain networks. The key performance metrics including cumulative weight and transaction confirmation delay are analysed under the unsteady state caused by the fluctuation of transaction arrival rate. The analysis is based on one of the most typical DAGs, Tangle, and the results show that the performance will be affected when the transaction arrival rate fluctuates widely.

Conventional methods for data analysis demands data be moved across networks for analysis. Along with it being highly network intensive, data owners are also reluctant to provide their data due to security and privacy breaches. In order to overcome these issues, we proposed TOTEM: Token for controlled computation, that combines both blockchain technologies and big data systems. The objective is to allow computation to be taken to the data, rather than moving the data to the computation. A third-party user uses the TOTEM SDK to create a MapReduce code for computation, which will be executed within the data owner's environment. This computational system prevents the execution of any malicious functions in the user code, by putting constraints on computational operations. A pre-defined totem will be assigned to authorised users, based on their computational needs. A smart contract performs pre-checks on user-submitted code and associated totem value, by using a totem estimator to determine the required totem for executing the given code. A Totem manager and updater is introduced to coordinate computation of user code until it exits gracefully, or the assigned totem gets exhausted. The TOTEM project ensures data security by allowing organisations to open their data centers and allow disruptive business models.

Nowadays, the technology surrounds every corner of our lives and produces a huge amount of data about people and things' behaviours. This leads to a new sector of data analytics and decision making known as Big Data analytics era. In that era, the Internet of things (IoT) and the wireless sensor networks (WSNs) play a vital role and allow to monitor a wide number of applications, zones and environments. However, the limited resources of devices along with the redundancy among collected data makes big data collection is a major challenge for such networks. In this paper, we propose a distributed round-based prediction model dedicated to hierarchical large-scale sensor networks. First, we divide the network lifetime into a set of rounds where each round consists of several periods. At each round, each sensor collects data for some periods of the round then it sends them to the next node then, it enters into sleep mode for the other periods of the round. Upon receiving the data from each sensor, the sink uses a prediction model based on the long short-term memory (LSTM) time series in order to expect sensor data during the sleeping mode. We applied our approach on real sensor data while the obtained results show its relevance in terms of reducing data transmission and saving network lifetime.

Cyber group event is one of the vital objects of cyber information content management. The study of user influence in cyber group events is of great significance to the analysis of user responsibility and the management of cyberspace. Aiming at the problem that the user influence rank algorithms existing in current research do not apply to cyber group events, this paper proposes a user influence rank algorithm based on interaction behaviors (IB-UIR) to measure users' influence in cyber group events. Based on PageRank, the IB-UIR algorithm comprehensively considers users' behaviors and the time interval between behaviors and calculates user influence iteratively in the user interaction network. Based on the real Sina Weibo data, experimental results show that the IB-UIR algorithm can effectively calculate users' actual influence in cyber group events, and it outperforms other related algorithms in the coverage, precision, recall, and F1-measure.

For delay-sensitive applications in mobile edge computing (MEC), task admission approach is of vital importance, and there has been a lot of researches in this field. But previous works focus on the situation with only one MEC server that is a simplification of the real world. In multi-servers situation, some devices may be within the service range of multiple MEC servers, so that they could choose which MEC server to offload. We formulate this problem to a multiple-choice integer program (MCIP) and utilize Ben's genetic algorithm to solve it. The simulation results show that our approach can significantly reduce energy consumption and every task can catch its deadline under almost all experiments.

With the advent and proliferation of post-PC era devices (ex: smartphones and tablets), the desktop printing is beginning to decline. However, with the proliferation of the mobile devices, and acceptance of the BYOD concept in the enterprises, employees want to print from anywhere, anytime and using any device. And, enterprises want to ensure security in the printing while enabling anytime, anywhere print access. This need in the market has prompted us to create Internet Gateway (IG) to provide secure location independent connectivity as a service, without MDM (Mobile Device Management) or VPN (Virtual Private Network). We have proposed IG as a connectivity service, for providing mobility to the services hosted in the cloud. We believe that this innovation would help in turnaround by saving the huge costs being spent on MDMs (more than 20,000 USD for each MDM instance), and as well provide a value to customers for printing from anywhere, anytime.

How to quickly and consistently update a network is among the most fundamental and common challenges in software defined networking (SDN) systems. Current approaches heavily rely on the (logically) centralized controller to initiate and orchestrate the network updates, resulting in long latency of update completion. In this paper, we present DDP, a system for fast, distributed network updates while preserving various consistency properties. The key technique in DDP is a novel primitive named datapath operation container (DOC), where each DOC is encoded with an individual operation and its dependency logic. DDP adopts the simple, but powerful DOCs to configure the network, so that network updates can be triggered and executed at the data plane in a distributed and local manner. Novel algorithms are designed to compute and optimize the DOCs for consistent updates. We implement DDP to evaluate its performance in various update scenarios. Experimental results show that DDP significantly improves network update speed by up to 52.1% for the real-time updates initiated by the controller, and further improves the speed by 55.6-61.4% for the updates directly triggered at the data plane, such as failure recovery.

This paper investigates the performance of millimeter wave communications in clustered device-to-device (D2D) networks. The locations of D2D transceivers are modeled as a Poisson Cluster Process. In each cluster, the active D2D receiver (D2D-Rx) utilizes mmWave to communicate with one of proximate D2D transmitters (D2D-Txs). More specifically, we introduce two serving D2D-TX selection scenarios: 1) Uniformly distributed D2D-Tx model;2) Closest line-of-site (LOS) D2D-Tx model. Moreover, we derive new analytical expressions for the coverage probability and area spectral efficiency (ASE). Monte Carlo simulations are provided to corroborate the theoretical results and show that: 1) The coverage probability is mainly affected by the LOS-interference;and 2) There exists an optimum number of simultaneously active D2D-Txs in each cluster for maximizing ASE.
