The tracking of objects is an important practical application of sensor networks. A key challenge in this domain is to track multiple targets accurately and to disambiguate them correctly in case of temporary interference. In our work, we present a novel object tracking mechanism for binary proximity sensors, where sensors are grouped into cliques based on the objects they are tracking. The use of cliques allows for effective disambiguation in case of target interference since overlaps in cliques can be separated as long as each clique has at least one unique sensor. While prior work has made use of clique-based object tracking techniques, our work is the first to perform such object tracking in a fully distributed fashion. Using distributed approach makes our solution simpler, more robust to sensor failure, and less energy-consuming due to lower communication overhead. In addition, our simulations show that tracking accuracy and multiple-target location disambiguation accuracy is higher than in other approaches.

As the absence of a centralized control in mobile ad hoc networks (MANET), the tradition public key infrastructure (PKI) model is not fully applicable in MANET scenarios. In this paper, we have implemented a fully distributed Certificate Authority (CA) which based the Identity-Based Encryption (IBE) combined with distributed secrete sharing algorithm [1], and integrated it with an OLSR MANET. With the advantage of less computing and communication loss, the proposed scheme is more suit the MANET environment.

In the past decades, various concepts of peer-to-peer (P2P) systems have been realized in desktop applications for stationary PCs. Last recent years show that computers have evolved to handy devices which can be used nearly everywhere, not only at home. For this reason, location-based services which allow to associate peers in a network with geographical positions, e.g. to track a device in emergency cases, become interesting. In this paper, we introduce LobSter, a lightweight location-based service over unmodified DHTs like Chord [24], Kademlia [14] and Pastry [21] which supports the mobility of peers. Our evaluation compares LobSter to related work in stationary situations and gives insights about the general limits of distributed location-based services in mobile environments.

Cloud computing is an utility computing paradigm that allows users to flexibly acquire virtualized computing resources in a pay-as-you-go model. To realize the benefits of using cloud, users need to first select the suitable cloud services that can satisfy their applications' functional and non-functional requirements. However, this is a difficult task due to large number of available services, users' unclear requirements, and performance variations in cloud. In this paper, we propose a system that evaluates trust of clouds according to users' fuzzy Quality of Service (QoS) requirements and services' dynamic performances to facilitate service selection. We demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of our system through simulations and case studies.

In this paper, we propose Wall Pass Algorithm (WPA). WPA presents a function to forward the messages to a neighboring area. We evaluate the performance of a geographic location-based distributed routing (GDR) system when the mobile terminals are moving. The results show that GDR and CAN have the same mean and the variance of the path length and the relay length when storing data, while the mean and the variance of the path length and the relay length of GDR are smaller than those of Chord and Kademlia. On the other hand, when sending query, GDR, Chord and Kademlia have the same mean and the variance of the path length, while the mean and the variance of the relay length of GDR are smaller than those of Chord and Kademlia. Furthermore, while GDR and CAN have the same mean and the variance of the relay length, the mean and the variance of the path length of GDR are smaller than those of CAN. In addition, WPA can decrease the communication overhead of the system.

This paper describes the essential role of Knowledge Management (KM) in transforming Moroccan public administration, underlining the fusion of ethical leadership with the push for digital modernization. It showcases KM as a pivotal tool in dismantling bureaucratic barriers and facilitating digital transitions, thereby streamlining public service delivery. By analyzing existing KM frameworks relevant to the public sector, this research formulates a customized set of implementation guidelines tailored to the Moroccan context. These guidelines strategically integrate ethical governance with KM practices to overcome the unique challenges faced by the Moroccan public sector, aiming to enhance service efficiency, transparency, and responsiveness. The study progresses from reviewing significant KM literature to spotlighting key factors for successful KMS deployment, culminating in specific, actionable recommendations. This concise exploration contributes to the discourse on KM's capacity to revolutionize public administration, providing a blueprint for future research and practical applications within Morocco and potentially other similar contexts.

In this paper, we investigate the video stream distributed transmission problem for the emergency communication over heterogeneous wireless networks. The key issue of the transmission problem is how to guarantee the quality of service, when the video stream is transmitted by multiple wireless access networks. According to observed available bit rate (ABR) and round trip time (RTT) over each access network, we propose four distributed rate allocation algorithms with different optimization objectives, in term of the average packet loss rate, the maximum delay, the proportional fairness and the benefit fairness of networks. Simulation results show that these four proposed algorithms can perform well both in fairness and effectiveness. Furthermore, the video distortion minimization algorithm and the maximum delay minimization algorithm tend to be more practical since the video quality is important in the emergency communication.

Software defined networking offers a capability of separating control plane from data plane. The control plane is the key component of a network which ensures smooth management and operation of the entire network. However, network's resiliency and availability offered by SDN single centralized controller architecture is prone to single point of failure. Network operators are rather looking at distributed controllers' deployment to ensure better network resiliency and availability. This paper gives a brief overview of approaches available for distributed controller deployment and also highlights some of the challenges experienced in the SDN distributed controller environments.

Tensor contractions are extremely compute intensive generalized matrix multiplication operations encountered in many computational science fields, such as quantum chemistry and nuclear physics. Unlike distributed matrix multiplication, which has been extensively studied, limited work has been done in understanding distributed tensor contractions. In this paper, we characterize distributed tensor contraction algorithms on torus networks. We develop a framework with three fundamental communication operators to generate communication-efficient contraction algorithms for arbitrary tensor contractions. We show that for a given amount of memory per processor, the framework is communication optimal for all tensor contractions. We demonstrate performance and scalability of the framework on up to 262,144 cores on a Blue Gene/Q supercomputer.

Mobile IPv6 and its extensions including Proxy MIPv6 employ a centralized mobility anchor to handle mobility management of the mobile nodes. The mobility anchor is in charge of mobility routing, location management and home address allocation functions. Having all of these functions bundled in a single network entity brings performance issues such as non optimal routing via this centralized anchor, traffic bottleneck and single point of failure. distributed mobility management is an alternative approach to overcome these issues. A network-based distributed mobility management scheme that co-locates the mobility routing function to distributed access routers with a mobility client function in different networks is presented. It provides an optimal path for both handover traffic and new traffic of the mobile nodes, and releases the burden from the centralized mobility anchor. The paper presents in detail the scheme and its principle of operation. Furthermore, it develops an analytical model to evaluate the performance of the scheme. Numerical results are presented to demonstrate better performance in terms of packet delivery cost, tunneling cost and total cost.
