Virtual machines offer unique advantages to the scientific computing community, such as Quality of Service(QoS) guarantee, performance isolation, easy resource management, and the on-demand deployment of computing environments. Using virtual machines as a computing resource within a distributed environment, such as Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), creates a variety of new issues and challenges that must be overcome. Traditionally, parallel task scheduling algorithms only focus on handling CPU resources. Using of a virtual machine, however, requires the monitoring and management of additional resource properties. Additionally, CPU, memory, storage, and software licenses must also be considered within the scheduling algorithm. The objective of this paper is to address these challenges of a multi-dimensional scheduling algorithm for virtual machines within a SOA. To do this, we deploy a testbed SOA environment composed of virtual machines which are capable of being registered, indexed, allocated, accessed, and controlled by our new parallel task scheduling algorithm.

Grid systems are emerging as new large scale distributed computing paradigm aiming to manage and allocate geographically distributed computing resources such as processing power, memory, storage and networking to applications and users in an efficient and transparent manner. Grid systems, however, are new paradigms as regards their infrastructure, specific software and deployment, making thus their use very difficult and complex for experimental studies of large-scale distributed applications. The simulation of such systems is therefore a de facto approach. Although the simulation field is mature and there are fundamental results for the simulation of distributed computing systems, recent developments in large-scale distributed systems such as Grids, are raising issues not tackled in the simulation of the traditional distributed systems.

Most research on distributed space-time block coding (D-STBC) has assumed that cooperative relay nodes are perfectly synchronized, for the delay destroys the required spacetime signal structure. However, in most practical distributed scenario, perfect synchronization is hard to achieve. To deal with it, this paper applies front end prefilter (FEP) as a delay synchronization scheme which accomplishes both delay synchronization and compensation. In the cooperative diversity strategy, the relay node exploits amplify-and-forward (AF) and decode-and-forward (DF) relaying patterns to assist the source node. Based on the platform of 2-hop cooperative relaying system, the results of Monte-Carlo simulations prove that FEP can make contribution to good bit error rate (BER) performance.

In large scale production environments, the information sets to perform calculations on come from various sources. In particular, some computations May require the information obtained as a result of previous computations. Workflow description offers an attractive approach to formally deal with such complex processes. Vine Toolkit [1] solution addresses some major challenges here such as the synchronization of distributed workflows, establishing a. community driven Grid environment for the seamless results sharing and collaboration. In order to accomplish these goals Vine Toolkit offers integration on different layers starting from rich user interface web components, integration with workflow engine and Grid security and ending up with a built-in meta-scheduling mechanisms, that allow IT administrators to perform load balancing automatically among computing clusters and data centers to meet peak demands. As a result of this particular project a complete solution has been developed and delivered.

With the development of Grid technology and the extension of Grid application areas, it needs to provide core infrastructure platform and the necessary functional components for large-scale resources sharing and collaboration. Based on the previous implementation of interactive Grid visualization system, this paper extends its runtime environment layer to provide Grid supports for the existing distributed simulation support platform and parallel graphics rendering system based on PC cluster, consequently realizes dynamic resource allocation and scheduling. Additionally, we present and implement a Grid-based distributed simulation and parallel rendering system which provides large-scale distributed simulation service and parallel rendering as well as high-resolution multi-screen tiled display service of massive complex scene to end users through an extended Grid portal.

The construction and the deployment of the service bearer network contain multiple network nodes. So it needs to do a unified operation. In the deployment processing, the whole service instance will fail if one operation fails. So it is a distributed transaction with ACID properties. This paper has done some research on the distributed transaction in a service bearer network. In addition to the basic concepts of distributed transaction. It has done a deep research on the following three aspects: the parallel mechanism of the subtransactions, the processing of the subtransaction failure and priority deployment strategies for the subtransactions. The key point is the designation of a more effective resolution algorithm for the preparation failure of the subtransactions, and then combined with relative examples to validate the efficiency of the algorithm.

Abstract-distributed generation (DG) can be used to generate a customer's entire electricity supply; for peak shaving; for standby or emergency generation; as a green power source; or for increased reliability. In this paper, analytical approaches for optimal placement of DG with unity power factor in power systems are presented. Placement of DG in a radial feeder is analyzed and the theoretical optimal site (bus) for adding DG is obtained for different types of loads and DG sources. The proposed methods are tested by a series of simulations on radial feeders to show the effectiveness of the proposed methods in determining the optimal bus for placing DG.

We propose a practical and efficient minor subspace tracking (MST) algorithm to implement distributed Interference Alignment (IA) based on Cognitive Radio (CR) that employs Interference Subspace Tracking (IST). The proposed MST algorithm utilizes the parallelizable matrix-vector products instead of the back and forward substitution in the existing MST algorithm for IST-IA, which is an inherent serial process unsuitable for the parallel implementation. Thus the proposed MST algorithm is more suitable for the practical parallel implementation than the existing MST algorithm for IST-IA. The proposed MST algorithm also requires less computational complexity than the existing MST algorithm for IST-IA.

In RFID systems, some readers will suffer from RF interference, which can lead to reader collision. Consequently, an anti-collision algorithm based on distributed power control (DPC) scheme was proposed as a solution for the problem in this paper. The proposed algorithm dynamically adjusts power output of a RFID reader based on the signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) of RFID reader receiver, minimizes the reader collision ratio while maintaining a desired read range. The simulation results shown that the proposed algorithm reduces the collision ratio greatly while ensure overall coverage area of the RFID system.
