Mobile IPv6 and its extensions including Proxy MIPv6 employ a centralized mobility anchor to handle mobility management of the mobile nodes. The mobility anchor is in charge of mobility routing, location management and home address allocation functions. Having all of these functions bundled in a single network entity brings performance issues such as non optimal routing via this centralized anchor, traffic bottleneck and single point of failure. distributed mobility management is an alternative approach to overcome these issues. A network-based distributed mobility management scheme that co-locates the mobility routing function to distributed access routers with a mobility client function in different networks is presented. It provides an optimal path for both handover traffic and new traffic of the mobile nodes, and releases the burden from the centralized mobility anchor. The paper presents in detail the scheme and its principle of operation. Furthermore, it develops an analytical model to evaluate the performance of the scheme. Numerical results are presented to demonstrate better performance in terms of packet delivery cost, tunneling cost and total cost.

Owing to the similarity between biological immune system and intrusion detection system, a four-layer model for network intrusion detection system based on Dendritic cells (DC) in danger theory is constructed . DC detectors are introduced and a DC-based algorithm is proposed in this model. It involves comprehensive evaluation and improves the detection ability of undefined intrusion.

In distributed object-oriented computing, a complex set of requirements has to be considered for maintaining the required level of reliability of objects to give higher level of performance. The authors proposed a mechanism to analyze the complexity of these underlying environments and design a dynamically reconfigurable architecture according to the changes of the underlying environment. The replication should have a suitable architecture for the adaptable fault tolerance so that it can handle the different situations of the underlying system before the fault occurs. The system can provide the required level of reliability by measuring the reliability of the underlying environment and then either adjusting the replication degree or migrating the object appropriately. It is also possible to improve the reliability with shifting to a suitable replication protocol adaptively. However, there should be a mechanism to overcome the problems when "replication protocol transition period" exists. This will also find a client-server group communication protocol that communicates with objects under both different environmental conditions and different replication protocols.

The objective of many applications with the surveillance missions in wireless sensor networks is to provide long-term monitoring of the specific environments, such as disaster-hit regions. These applications usually perform continuous monitoring without any maintenance, even if some sensor nodes fail. A significant challenge when designing the data collection approaches for such systems is that the conventional communication protocols for wireless sensor networks would present low efficiency, since the network topology changes rapidly due to the node failure. Thus the sensor nodes in such systems should use an automatic transmission approach to disseminate their sensed data to the sink in a distributed manner. In this paper, we propose a novel Coding-based Probabilistic Routing (CPR) to address this specific problem of data collection for distributed surveillance sensor networks in disaster-hit regions. CPR dynamically adapts to node failure to collect the maximum data in any given time and chooses an optimal probabilistic routing to decrease the transmission consumption. The extensive simulation results are presented to show that CPR outperforms other strategies.

Electronic textile research often centers on the concept of introducing electronics to apparel such as shirts jackets, gloves, and health vests. Another less researched concept incorporates electronics into large textile surfaces such as carpets and upholstery. In this paper we explore methods and challenges of building a large surface area electronic textile floor for cooperative mobile device interaction. We systematically construct both a 100 ft by 50 ft textile simulation and a 3 ft by 8 ft working prototype using readily available materials. We introduce the broadly applicable embedded workload of human gait tracking as a means to defining the requirements for the textile physicals, networked computing node, and distributed execution environment subsystems. Through this effort we begin to establish a working model for combining inexpensive electronic textiles with a scalable execution environment that supports mobile device to floor interactions.

Call admission control plays an important role in international Telecommunication Union-Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) Quality of Services (QoS) architecture of next generation network (NGN). We extend both BPC and BPC-IF call admission control [23] to exploit their capability of robustness and fairness in response to the variation of network status. Simulation results show that the modified BPC and BPCIF algorithm is effective in supporting robustness in terms of utilization, while achieving good fairness of network resources.

To solve the problems due to the restriction of the handheld devices and the improperness of traditional steganography schemes in m-commerce applications, a secure steganography scheme based on (N,t) threshold is proposed and its security is analyzed. This scheme can significantly reduce the computing complexity and the requirements for the communication devices. It also improves the security. This scheme enables clients to securely conduct m-commerce transactions and carry out steganographic communication using their handheld devices. The proposed scheme can resist various attack methods.

The communication and information technologies have revolutionized the collaborative work making it more acces- sible. Electronic collaboration systems are more and more used in the domain of research community, for education systems and in societies to insure the collaboration between employees. We note also that the use of social networks continues to increase: Facebook and Twitter are very known examples of electronic collaboration. But, these systems are faced with a big security challenge. In fact, they are exposed to malicious intrusions, identity usurpation and data falsi cation. Those security problems are a barrier for electronic collaboration, that's why Trust management must be established to insure and maintain cooperation between distributed nodes. In this paper, we propose a model that can be applicable for any collaborative platform. It is based on a multi level architecture: authentication, analysis, security and monitoring levels. Each level is managed by agents. Each access to the collaborative platform must be controlled by an authentication agent. Analysis agent must identify collaboration type and estimate trust level. Security agents decide then if collaboration can take place. Decisions are taken following a Case Based Reasoning method. During collaboration, monitoring agents check any malicious behavior.

To cope with limited capabilities of mobile devices, task offloading in distributed edge computing (DEC) environments is perceived as a promising solution. However, the mobility of devices makes the task offloading a more challenging issue. In this paper, we investigate mobility-awareness for optimal task offloading in DEC environments. To this end, we formulate an optimization problem to minimize the response time of offloaded tasks. Simulation results demonstrate that the mobilityaware task offloading scheme can reduce the response time by 14% ~ 21% compared with the conventional task offloading schemes without any mobility-awareness.
