Conservation Voltage Reduction (CVR) technology optimizes distribution grid voltage to reduce power demand and losses, improving power system efficiency and stability. Effective real-time monitoring and control of power system voltage and load need a reliable communication network. Ensuring time-sensitive stability in measuring and sharing extensive data from distributed power resources is crucial, especially in unpredictable electrical environments. This paper proposes a solution in the form of a High Reliable Redundancy Communication (HRRC) network. HRRC aims to enhance the network performance and reliability of CVR technology for future power grid systems. The design and implementation of HRRC involves Ethernet-based High Availability Seamless Redundancy (HSR), parallel Redundancy Protocol (PRP), and Merging Unit (MU), offering robust solutions for CVR.

In this article, we propose a distributed medium access control (MAC) protocol for the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) network with directional antennas. It uses a distributed learning algorithm to control each node's communication parameters (such as sending rate) according to the observations of only 1-hop neighbors. Because of the asynchronous and decentralized nature of multi-agent deep distributed reinforcement learning (MADDRL), we adopt Multi Agent Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (MADDPG) [3] to generate discrete actions for the MAC layer protocol. Under the individual and distributed observations of the environment, each node/agent can update their own states and rewards locally. Moreover, two major communication quality evaluation metrics - throughput (THR) and delay (DEL) are used to show the effectiveness and scalability of the distributed algorithm. From the results, the protocol using MADDPG shows more advantages than the general MAC schemes, including higher end-to-end THR, lower queuing DEL, and lower communication message exchange.

A practical decoder for quantum error correction must decode a dynamic decoding graph comprising all logical qubits in the system in real-time, a challenging task due to resource limitations. We report HeliosNet, a first-of-its-kind decoding system that overcomes resource constraints through a distributed multi-FPGA architecture. It employs a hybrid tree grid topology to minimize latency for lattice surgery operations distributed across multiple FPGAs. Furthermore, HeliosNet introduces fusion-Union-Find, a novel approach to decoding merged logical qubits that avoids redundant computations associated with traditional window decoders. Additionally, we designed HeliosNet architecture to overcome the IO limitation and minimize data movement latency when integrating with existing quantum control systems. Our exploratory prototype of HeliosNet consists of five Xilinx VMK-180 FPGAs and can decode 100 logical qubits (d = 5) faster than the rate of measurement. Thus, we believe that HeliosNet is a promising candidate for the logical qubit decoding layer in the quantum computer control stack.

In fog computing, to ensure Quality of Service (QoS), we need to specify a placement plan for distributing IoT applications among computing devices for processing;this is the IoT application placement problem. With a potentially huge number of computing devices and applications, solving the IoT application placement problem can be decentralized, i.e., independent optimization can be performed in parallel across diverse clusters, thus mitigating the networking and computing overhead and enhancing the QoS consequently. However, deploying applications in clusters based on available resources at the time of placement decision may lead to the propagation of undeployed applications among clusters, in which case ensuring the QoS constraints of those applications is not guaranteed. This paper proposes an algorithm that can be integrated into any existing placement algorithm to enhance the QoS of undeployed applications through postponement rather than immediate propagation among clusters. Initial experimental results from integrating this algorithm into an existing placement algorithm show an improvement in the percentage of applications satisfying QoS.
