Inspired by the structure of the human leg, a bionic leg with the constant posture of the endpoint and capable of omnidirectional legged locomotion is proposed. The structural layout of the bionic leg is introduced. The flexibility of the leg mechanism is analyzed using the condition number of the Jacobian matrix as a performance index. The static model of the leg mechanism is developed based on the virtual work principle. The bearing capacity performance index and the force equilibrium performance index are established by the vector extremum method. Furthermore, the static performance of the leg mechanism is analyzed. In order to verify the applied feasibility and the performance of omnidirectional legged locomotion, the motion simulation of the quadruped robot based on the proposed design is carried out as it moves along seven different directions. A prototype is developed to serve as the foundation for the next phase in the improvement and practical implementation of omnidirectional bionic legs.

Detection of concrete cracks plays a vital role in structural defect analysis. Classification using machine learning techniques is one of the ways to perform the process. This paper discusses the performance analysis of light-weight models used to detect concrete cracks. The Concrete Crack Images for Classification (CCIC) dataset is used in the training and testing phases of NASNetMobile, MobileNet V2, DenseNet121, and VGG-19. Modifications in the networks include layers for binary classification of the data. The quantitative analysis proves the ability of NASNetMobile as a light-weight model while MobileNet V2 can be opted if training time is the constraint. The experimental results validate a trade-off between the usage of light-weight models, especially, NASNetMobile as against regular networks. To prove the tradeoff, the performance of light-weight models is compared with VGG-19 which is a regular model. analysis proves to waive off the usage of regular models in comparison with the NASNetMobile model.

Modern IoT ecosystems face many security issues. An aspect often neglected concerns covert channels, which allow for exfiltrating data or preventing detection. To this aim, the Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) protocol can be abused to create various hidden communication paths, mainly due to its textual nature. Alas, simpler detection metrics could be ineffective and their optimization requires a vast number of test cases. Therefore, this paper proposes to use a small language model trained over real MQTT topics to automatically generate the required test cases. Results indicate the need for optimizations to make popular detection metrics usable "in the wild".

The rapid penetration of electric vehicles (EVs) provides notable opportunities for the EV charging industry. However, the frequent occurrence of EV overstay results in the underutilization of charging piles, leading to the low overall efficiency of charging stations (CSs). To address this issue, we present a Cooperative Pricing Scheme for Multi-Type CSs (CPSMT) integrating single-output multi-port (SOMP) CSs. Besides, the bounded rational user behavior facing new SOMP CSs is meticulously analyzed and modeled to tackle obstacles such as users' low acceptance of these emerging CSs. Numerical experiments are conducted to illustrate the effect of bounded rationality on user selection. To derive optimal pricing strategies for CPSMT, we propose a reinforcement learning-based method, creatively utilizing customized statistical data to track the status of each CS. The simulation results show that this advanced scheme remarkably enhances the profitability of CSs, greatly outperforming the system only with traditional CSs.

This study proposes a soft wearable robot that supports scapular adduction and abduction to rehabilitate respiratory diseases. For the elderly, the decrease in the range of thorax movement due to aging increases the risk of respiratory diseases. Although adduction and abduction exercise of the scapula effectively improves the movement range of the respiratory muscles around the thorax, it is difficult for the elderly owing to reduced voluntary upper-arm mobility, and hence a physiotherapist's support is required. The proposed robot has a simple mechanism with a small degree of freedom that supports the elderly in stretching their thorax on their own at home. We first describe the design concept of the proposed soft robot with a shoulder brace with elastic components to constrain shoulder movement. Then, we conduct a pilot study to determine appropriate design parameters based on a therapist's kinematic analysis of the glenohumeral joint during the stretching. The evaluation experiment with eight healthy participants to validate the supporting function of the system is described. Hence, we confirm that the proposed system can provide scapular adduction and abduction movement similar to what physiotherapists provide.

We propose a method of identifying the human constitution with how to apply bioelectricity pattern signals based on traditional Korean medical theory. Through the proposed method, it will expect to care for health conditions. With this visualization, we may possibly identify the abnormal area of the human body with internal organs, such as liver, heart, lung spleen, kidney.
