Educational gamification can improve student engagement, motivation, or performance;however, educators face challenges in aligning game elements with learning objectives. This article presents the Game Design Storytelling (GDS) process, developed to assist professors in creating gamified lessons that integrate game elements with learning objectives. The process uses a narrative structure as a guide for developing the elements, aiming to increase student engagement and motivation. A two-stage study was conducted to evaluate the ease of use of the process. In the first stage, education experts participated in focus group sessions to provide feedback on the process. Based on this feedback, an improved version of the process was developed. In the second stage, this new version was evaluated by more experts, who provided positive feedback on the implemented improvements. The results indicate that experts felt more inclined to use the new version of the process, with some expressing a desire to use the gamification generated in this study. This paper delves into the mathematical foundations of the Newton-Raphson load flow analysis and its implementation within a MATLAB framework for simulating a 33-node distribution network. An admittance matrix is meticulously constructed, encapsulating the impedance characteristics of each branch and the power specifications of generators, thereby laying the groundwork for iterative computational processes. The nodes and branches are precisely defined by their respective contributions in terms of active and reactive power, which facilitates detailed simulations. The study intensively examines the repercussions of integrating distributed photovoltaic (PV) systems into the distribution network. It addresses three distinct dimensions of PV integration: the effects of varying capacities, the impact of different locational deployments within the network, and the influence of diverse power factors. By conducting robust simulation analyses, the research provides both a theoretical framework and a practical toolkit for anticipating and validating the operational performance of power systems under varied configurations and conditions. The insights derived from this analysis prove indispensable for the strategic planning and optimization of power systems, enhancing decision-making capabilities pertinent to system enhancements and the integration of renewable energy sources. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

Technologies have changed how students engage and participate during remote classes, whether by encouraging interaction via chat on platforms such as Google Meet or by using voting features such as Poll. Our research aims to better understand the role of these tools in the educational context and how their interactive features influence student experience through the lens of engagement, participation, and liveness. In this sense, we address the following question: How can educational technologies be classified by the Engagement, Participation, and Liveness lens? To explore the relationship between the lens and the interactive features of Mentimeter, Google Meet, and Google Presentations, we conducted a study with three independent evaluations, measuring agreement using Cohen's Kappa coefficient. Our results suggest that these interactive features can be used as a lens to understand different types of experiences and how they can be applied to promote various dynamics, such as competitive and collaborative activities. Our results expand the professor's perspective on the student experience, providing ways for professors to understand the emotional and student behavioral reactions from using interactive tools in remote learning environments. Cloud computing is now inevitable in most of the enterprises, as it offers high flexibility and availability. However, with more data kept in the cloud, the security problems like unapproved access and data loss have become a highly significant issue too. Keeping all those access controls in mind; this paper delves into various ways of securing sensitive data in cloud applications. The approaches includes the technologies like Identity and Access in Cloud Management using IAM, Blockchain Technology and Artificial Intelligence algorithms. The solutions that are in existence today do help, but there are issues that must be solved. To address the constraints that are put on cloud environments, this paper proposes an integrated model of security by bringing these methods together.

The PI controller is often used for DVR control. One drawback of this traditional controller is that it may not provide the necessary control performance when operating circumstances or system parameters change since it uses preset gains. The issue of the quality of electricity is beginning to capture the attention of both end users and suppliers as a result of the widespread use of numerous complex electrical and electronic devices, including laptops variable speed drives, programmable logic controllers, and many more. An adaptive PI controllers based on FOPID control logic is suggested as a solution to this issue. FOPID control logic and PI controllers make up the controller. FOPID control logic controllers may adapt to changing operating conditions by online adjusting the PI controller’s two parameters in accordance with FOPID control logic control rules and the control system’s error as well as error rate. When compared to the traditional PI controller, the hardware results show that the suggested control approach greatly enhances the DVR’s performance.

The Internet of Things (IoT) has disrupted home automation with device integration, real-time control, and better user comfort. Scalability, connection, and usability limitations plague traditional GSM-based home automation systems. IoT allows smartphones, tablets, and other smart devices to control electrical equipment remotely, ensuring energy efficiency, convenience, and security. IoT-based automation uses communication protocols, cloud computing, and sensors for intelligent functionality and real-time feedback. Modern smart home ecosystems are more flexible, scalable, and interoperable with IoT platforms like Zigbee, Wi-Fi, and MQTT than GSM-based systems. This study creates an IoT-based home automation system using microcontrollers, sensors, and IoT cloud platforms for smart homes that is cost-effective, user-friendly, and sustainable. This study shows how IoT is transforming home automation and can produce more sustainable, intelligent homes than conventional systems. As they evolve, IoT technologies could make home automation more efficient, safe, and user-friendly, enabling a more intelligent and connected future.

Dynamic graph representation learning aims to capture the evolution of graph structures and obtain accurate node embeddings, a crucial task in graph machine learning. The Hawkes point process, a mathematical framework effective for modeling the influence of historical events on future occurrences, has been validated as a powerful tool for capturing the dynamics of graph evolution in dynamic graph representation learning. However, existing dynamic graph representation learning methods based on the Hawkes point process primarily model excitation at the individual node level, failing to adequately account for structural influences during graph evolution. This limitation restricts their ability to comprehensively capture network evolution patterns. To address this limitation, we propose a Hawkes Point process-enhanced Dynamic Graph Neural Network (HP-DGNN) model. This model leverages the Hawkes point process to model both individual node histories and structural histories, capturing their respective influences on future node interactions. By integrating individual and structural influences in computing Hawkes conditional intensity, the model comprehensively captures the impacts of both layers on future node interactions. We evaluate our proposed model on two downstream tasks of dynamic graph representation learning: dynamic link prediction and future node degree prediction. Compared to 12 state-of-the-art methods, our model consistently demonstrates superior performance, underscoring its effectiveness in capturing the complexities of graph evolution. © 2025 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

An open-source software application, QRame has been developed for applying QRevInt post-processing, quality control and uncertainty computation procedures to a large number of ADCP measurements. This is the first user-friendly software tool for applying the empirical computation of discharge measurement uncertainty based on repeatedmeasures experiments. Its main functions are illustrated through the example of the international ADCP intercomparison organized in 2022 in Vranov, Czech Republic. QRame was also used to process an international database of 58 ADCP intercomparisons organized by professional hydrological services. The empirical uncertainties were compared with uncertainties computed with OURSIN and QRev-UA uncertainty propagation methods. QRame is also useful to a hydrological service willing to re-analyze existing ADCP measurements at one or several hydrometric stations to get updated discharges and uncertainty estimates. © 2025 The Author(s).

Reflective learning in education offers various benefits, including a deeper understanding of concepts, increased self-awareness, and higher-quality project work. However, integrating reflective learning into the syllabus presents challenges, such as the difficulty of grading and the manual effort required to provide in-dividualised feedback. In this paper, we explore the use of Large Language Models (LLMs) to automate formative feedback on student reflections. Our study is conducted in the CS4350 Game Development Project course, where students work in teams to develop a game through multiple milestone assessments over the semester. As part of the reflective learning process, students write reflections at the end of each milestone to prepare for the next. Students are given the option to use our automated feedback tool to improve their submissions. These reflections are graded by Teaching Assistants (TAs). We analyse the impact of the tool by comparing students' initial reflection drafts with their final submissions and surveying them on their experience with automated feedback. In addition, we assess students' perceptions of the usefulness of reflective writing in the game development process. Our findings indicate that students who revised their reflections after using the tool showed an improvement in their overall reflection scores, suggesting that automated feedback improves reflection quality. Furthermore, most of the students reported that reflective writing improved their learning experience, citing benefits such as increased self-awareness, better project and time management, and enhanced technical skills. Generative AI can considerably speed up the process of producing narrative content including different media. This may be particularly helpful for the generation of modular variations on narrative themes in hypermedia, crossmedia, or transmedia contexts, thereby enabling personalized access to the content by heterogenous target groups. We present an example where GenAI has been applied for image creation and translation of a text to multiple languages for a crossmedia edutainment project transferring IT security knowledge to vulnerable groups. GenAI still seems inadequate to produce interesting narrative text integrating dedicated educational content. AI-generated illustrations often require manual rework. However, LLM support in multilingual translations displays more intelligent solutions than expected, including the implementation of a password generation process from a narrated description.
